I don't know, it's probably a case of the Wallabies being so inept. I still expect us to struggle against the intensity and class of the All Blacks at Ellis Park.
I am also very thrilled that rugby league is gradually becoming more popular than union in NZ, especially with the younger generation Christchurch will soon have its own NRL franchise which will do wonders for the code's popularity.
I agree with the sentiment that union is boring and archaic with most games decided by penalties and yellow cards.
I'm one of the few South Africans who prefers league to union.

    • @DeftPol
      @DeftPol 26 дней назад

The Australian sports market has progressively been getting harder for Rugby Union to survive in over the last 20 years. During Australian Rugby Union’s heydays of the 90s and early 00s the AFL barely existed in Sydney and Brisbane and Rugby League was wrapped up in and then recovering from the highly destructive ‘Super League War’ which split the game and fans.
But now the AFL is now an 18 team competition with 2 pro teams in both Sydney and Brisbane/Gold Coast respectively built largely off supplanting Union’s place in its traditional private school nurseries, whilst the NRL is now a 17 team competition and so strong that it is also about to expand to 18 and then has plans to go to 20 teams (which will also likely see it add another NZ team).
That’s a LOT of competition from other contact oval ball football codes for a relatively small population of 26 million people. Add to that, Rugby’s one defining appeal - its international presence - has been undercut somewhat by the growing success of soccer in Australia. The socceroos and the A-League have their problems, but they’ve built a significant profile of their own and if having high profile internationals is your thing, then soccer just scratches that itch better than Rugby.

South Africans reign supreme against the Wallabies. What a display against a side devoid of ideas and unable to tackle. The scoreline flattered the Aussies who scored with South Afrixa having two men in the bin.

It wasn't that long ago the All Blacks bet you 50 something nil, everyone has their ups and downs. Sth Africa on a roll granted, but no need to be so cocky.

@@ljawgtn1393 that's not cocky he is just giving back what they received over the years; and that same springbok team who received 50 against AB went on to be back 2 back world champions. So shut the F up.

This variation rules, WR is going to revisit it, with the possibility of changing it because of the Springboks being the only team used it.

New Zealand will give them all they can handle. I expect two games settled by a single score margin, much like the Irish tests.

The Wallabies cannot afford to go into a Lions series and home Rugby World Cup like this. For the sake of rugby union. This is worrying. We have been here as South Africa, so we can empathise.

I from Mexico and following the Wallabies the last deacade 2014 decaying, infamous whena i start to play and watch Rugby The Wallabies were rugby scoundrels, smart, strong, old school rugby like I read in a comment from a Wallaby fan, what's happening in Aus, is it the economy or they just don't like rugby as much as it seems internationally, I've also heard that it has little advertising and dissemination and it is also beginning to be noticed that Australians love the AFL and NRL.
    Let's go Wallabies.
i can see a difference in Asutralian Rugby, last year super rugby has the must number of wins by aussie teams like brumbies its a powerfullhome team, so i hope the australian Rugby comeback stronger, tackles vs Sprinboks first test 2024 looks agressive, Still loss, South African Rugby #1 it's a luxury to see

1} Where did you want him to go??
2} A yellow card before a team warning??
3} Aussies have been rolling out penalties and no card??
4} I really don't know why the ref did that, probably just to close the score so that world rugby wouldn't be mad.
