I got same psi as you. But driving at a middle rebound. Not tooo fast but slow enough not to pop out. For very hard trails perfect. But sometimes to slow. It is very hard to find a perfect solution for everything on the trail.
Excellent tips. Thank you! You said you set five clicks of low-speed compression on every single fork. I assume that's clockwise from fully open on the 38 Grip2, so about 11-12 out of 16 clicks counter-clockwise from fully closed. Correct? Fox recommends 10 clicks out from closed/slow to start so 12 is perfectly reasonable and is what I run.
Not all 38s come with a quick release - 38 that came with my 23' Megatower doesn't have the sleeve, the axle has a large head with a 6mm Allen key, gets tightened in then tighten the pinch bolt

Can't get enough of your vids. I think I can relate to your riding style from what you say...and I weight also around 210lbs...I have a Levo gen 3 with a Fox 38 Elite and a X2... Seems that I can't bring them to the ride quality of my other Enduro bike (Rockshox Zeb Ultimate Charger 3 (170mm) with coil shock at the rear). I have even rent two Shockwiz to help me to set them up, but I still have a feeling of harshness. I'm starting to think to switch them since I mostly use the Levo now. I'm beginning to think that the fight is uneven between both forks. I know I'm not giving you much data, but I would still like to know your opinion or direction to help me out.
Listen up, I am working on a new setup guide, make sure there is 2 tokens in the fork, about 120 psi, they also loose air in 2 weeks so except it to go flat to 100 psi in that time, go full fast rebound and full on compression low and high thank me later 🤙 skip shock wiz it does not work good on forks
The rebound is the harnesses not the compression.

So it's the opposite of what I have. You want me to try full open Rebound and full close compression?
@@mart63789 Yes try it. I am heavier than you and that is what I run now, before I ran 7 clicks from slow rebound 5 clicks low and 5 clicks high both work,

I remember you saying 36 spacers fit the 38 and obviously just seen the lylic tokens there but being told they don't fit on other video i trust your opinion more but just to double check with you? I got 3D printed tokens sent when ordered some never noticed they weren't genuine but scared incase they chip and destroy the inner bladder or something id just rather get rhe genuine ones plus PETG filament is pouros so will maybe be squishy i dont know but not risking it! I am a 3D printer do it daily for models and stuff but I use stong abs resin and the latest 8k and 12k printers and still wouldn't trust us8ng a volume spacer in a shock! The materials are still to brittle for this type of application and it will end up causing you a massive repair bill or worse a system lockout when landing or blowout if a small peace does break loose! Its not hard even if it bends in the clips that clip together they will shatter! Rant on that over jsut anyone thinking of using 3D printed tokens please don't not yet anyway!

The 36 ones clip right in. Don’t use aftermarket stuff they are super cheap
What are your thoughts on less tokens more psi. I’m on 1 token, 130psi, weight 105kgs. It feels less divey and more supported then 115-120 psi with 3 tokens. I’m on etuned version

Really want a Fox 38, but I have a hardtail made for a 120mm, so maybe a bad idea?

@@OtterMTBtech sadly I agree, and a 36 130mm was my sensible choice as well. Even though I am 244lbs, I better stick with a 36.
I’m 220 and have to use all downhill rated parts. You should too, if your ride anywhere near hard
@@OtterMTBtech Yes, I dont really care so much about weight for the parts I choose, I just want stuff that wont break while riding. The thought I had about getting a Fox 38, was to have a really solid fork, that wont twist or bend, while being smooth and comfy at the same time. Not getting any younger. So, a 38 would give me a min of 150mm travel, but then run it at maybe 25% sag, instead of 15-20% on a shorter fork. I can't find much info on others doing the same, so I don't know if it is a good idea or not, but in theory it would work for me, and my riding style. A fox 36 at 130mm is maybe a better (thinking of the travel) option, but at the moment, all I can get is the 38. My bike is a Cannondale Trail Se hardtail, and it should hold up to the abuse, but only one way to find out.

I an about 220LBS and I found that putting less air in the fork gives it a better feel on my Turbo Levo. I've had tons and tons of forks and the Fox 38's feel so good. Very planted.
I’m also a “bigger” rider so hearing you say this makes me happy! Just ordered these today and ordered the rear x2 shock aswell for my turbo Levo. Super excited
@@hunterb8016 One of the best things about my Levo is the suspension platform. The bike feels very balanced and very capable. Because the bike weighs 50+ LBS it needs solid suspension and 38's with an X2 is perfect.
I have an Intense M16 DH bike and I think my Levo has a better suspension platform.
@@hunterb8016 Depending on your riding, you'll get a better feel from the fork if you take out one token. 20% sag is pretty crucial or the fork will dive and run through it's travel. That's why Fox says 15-20%. The rebound is the most important thing on Fox forks. If the fork is feeling harsh and your sag is correct spend your time bracketing your rebound. With LSC/HSC open. Once you get a supple feel (it's usually a couple clicks faster than the chart imo) then dial in your LSC/HSC. While running 25%+ sag might feel good on small bump stuff it will definitely run into problems at higher speeds, bigger hits, and g outs in corners.

@@Penta_Penguin_237 No problem. Remember than the less tokens you run the more linear the fork will feel (like a coil) and will also run through it's travel easer (just like if you had less pressure) If you're bottoming out your fork too easy, then you'll need to put the token back in. Getting a tune is never a bad idea either.. it's a bit expensive but it will achieve what you want out of your suspension. Even then though.. remember.. You can have more than the stock spacers at 20% sag.. land a big drop on the back wheel and smash down on the fork and bottom it out.. so like I said. It depends on how you ride. If you're blasting the fk out of your bike like a DH racer and doing big hits. You don't care how it feels on small bump stuff, you want it stiff. If you want comfort, you're probably not going to be doing that kinda stuff. Suspension is all about give or take. Comfort vs performance. Finding a balance for what you ride is the name of the game. It should be changed depending on what you're riding.

Mine is a 2022 regular Grip and it has a non-QR axle and no tube. Still has a pinch bolt of course.

What's the specific name for that closed spanner wrench you said you got from amazon? The link in your bio shows a socket wrench, which I already have, but I want the same closed spanner as yours for the "portable" tool box. :)

I have for 38 170mm with fit 4 im just looking how to set up before take my new bike out, see on the side of your fork there it has the wheels size 29/27.5 im assuming this means the fork can take both sizes? Just i read that there is a 38 for 27.5 and a 38 for a 29er and have to be one or the other? I have what looks like the same arch clearance from the tyre to arch on fork like yours but there 27.5 fox 38s when registered them? I'm new to these new shocks n bikes its been a long time since was on a bike but watching all these video's just made me look into them more and more till just wanted back on the trails! Weather is pants here in scotland just now so getting the bike ready for its first day out hoping on Saturday!

Ive notice on the tuning options sheet its got 170mm for E bike has 3 tokens and non E bike comes with 2 tokens i juat got my new e bike im interested to see what's inside now! 2 or 3 tokens looks like a job for the morning now
I’m not sure what’s the difference between e tune and regular 38. Maybe the compression is lighter on the e tune so needs more
