If Monokuma pops out from literally nowhere an hour into this game and turns it into Danganronpa 4, I wouldn’t even bat an eyelash. If there is any game developer in the world, who would start work on a new IP, tease it 7 years before it comes out, only to reveal it was actually a sequel to his most famous IP the whole time, it’s Kazutaka Kodaka.
If Spike Chunsoft was publishing this (they aren't), I honestly believe it could happen.
@@sssawfish1403 yeah, im fully that the chance of that actually happening is effectively zero. But it would be a completely in character move for Kodaka to do that, and completely in character of Monokuma to just Hijack another game entirely.

That's just Takada Masafumi being himself. Try playing other games with him helming the soundtrack, his style is very recognizable.
Neat little blink and you miss it note: The blue-haired girl has some form of telekinesis, in the quick scene at 0:57 you can see she is levitating a ring of bladed weapons around herself.

Tbh I’m a bit let down they’re doing a new thing instead of following up on it cause I loved the concept of mystery labyrinths, but there was definitely room for improvement

So it’s kind of like Danganronpa, but you get to defend your school with your classmates from monsters in a strategy RPG style? Yeah I’m sold.
Imagine spikechunsoft is actually behind this game but said that they weren't because they don't want you to think that it's a Danganronpa game. A few hours into the game Monokuma appears and the real intro plays with the spikechunsoft logo. That would actually be crazy, but obviously it is highly unlikely because if it were a Danganronpa-like game, then it would be in the title.
I actually think the title isn't a problem considering the "V3" in Danganronpa

The moment I saw the character models and visual novel style artwork, I immediately knew it was a Spike Chunsoft game.

They did make it look very convincing though

actually it's not! the creatives who made danganronpa (kodaka, komatsuzaki, takada) made their own studio, tookyo games, so that's why the style is the same. but they made this game partnering with another studio.
it's not Spike Chunsoft, Spike still owns the Danganronpa IP. This is Too Kyo Games made by ex Spike Chunsoft devs, Kodaka is one of the creators
Was hoping for a sequel of RainCode but it's cool seeing new things from the team, I'll defenitely give it a try

honestly this just feels like they wanted to make a non-canon spinoff about Class 78 defending HPA from Monokumas after the Tragedy but since it's a different studio they had to slap new character designs on top of it to make it a new IP 😂

obviously i am excited for the first party stuff but i love the games by the danganronpa team so im very excited for this, the characters always look so good😭

"...and despair!!" They're NOT trying to be subtle about it 😭😭
"Extreme and Despair" has been the moniker of the game ever since it was first announced. It just doesn't translate well because Zero Escape was called "Extreme Escape" in Japan, while "Despair" obviously stands for Danganronpa. It's only meant to signify that it's co-written by Uchikoshi and Kodaka as they go wild. It's their collab passion project.
I like how they alluded to you-know-what by saying "despair" at the end.

The little ghost mascot looks extremely similar to Shinigami from Rain Code. When I saw this in the Direct my first thoughts were, "this can't be a Rain Code sequel, it's too soon". I mean, I guess this looks interesting? But it's so ungodly similar to Danganronpa in every way that I can't bring myself to care, in all honesty.

We are so back and Kodaka AND Uchikoshi are cooking with this brand new game! I love the artwork and Ruri’s classic artstyle and the gameplay looks interesting with a tactics system. I’m looking forward to seeing what this game has in store for us!

I'm interested if "the unavoidable loss of allies" just means forced deaths at certain points in the story? I'm hoping this goes the Fire Emblem route where if you let a character die, they are permanently dead, because those stakes are so fitting for a story like this in a game like this by creators like this.

I saw a comment saying that there will be over a hundred different endings, idk where they got it from but they're implying that if a character dies in battle then they'll permanently die then changing the story.
