This is completely incredible. The SaGa series is getting so much love lately and it deserves it. I can only hope the Frontier 2 remaster is on its way down the pipeline.
Frontier 2 is likely going to be a remake. They wouldn't have skipped from SaGa Frontier to Minstrel Song with the remasters if they weren't doing a full remake of SF2

This has happened before with a few remasters or enhanced versions, like Kingdom Hearts 1.5, though in that case they completely lost the original files, so they had to rebuild Kingdom Hearts 1 from the ground up. As for problems, Frontier 2 wasn't the unfinished wonder Frontier 1 was, so I wonder what you're referring to exactly. The game didn't have very much in the way of unused content nor does it have any exploits, bugs, or glitches to speak of.

It absolutely is. Go try the remastered version of the SNES game. It's on just about everything now and is a great game in its own right. If you grab the PC versions, there's mods to add speed toggles too that work exactly like most modern ports of these games tend to. Kind of an odd omission from RS2 and 3, actually, since Minstrel Song has it built in. The remake looks like it's going to overhaul the battle mechanics to be more like the newer games (specifically more like Scarlet Grace and Emerald Beyond.)
Well THIS was unexpected! Romancing SaGa 2 *JUST* became my second favorite SaGa game (after SaGa 2) since it only recently came out in English (first SaGa game released on Switch, never had a complete fan translation). I am DELIGHTED to see it looking so good! Especially with this art style and character designs! This game is a dream for people who love making custom parties of generic classes. Think of it as a hyper evolved FF1. As it so happens, those are my favorite kind of RPG (so DQ3 remake is ALSO very exciting).

My personal favourite Saga game even after having played emerald beyond! Crazy this came out of nowhere. I hope they change the branches slightly so that those who already played the first game wont already know what choices to pick and where to go
@@carlos-x1z3p Ah man, I love Emerald Beyond. I'm actually on my 5th playthrough. The combat is insanely fun and I love the off the wall plots between the worlds and how they play out differently each time. I know it's not for everyone but I'm really enjoying it.
It's kind of hard to believe. Not to mention Kawazu said a Saga Frontier 2 Remaster is in the works as well. If they release that along with RS2 Remake, this really will be the best year for Saga to me.

Man I really wasn't expecting this. I've played the steam ports of RS2 but the second game especially felt like it would improve a lot with slight tuning on the mechanics. Liking the graphical style they are going for too.
Every Nintendo direct I feel has one sleeper hit which is a random game that I find interesting and this was it for this one, I was just really intrigued by the concept and the RPG elements looked super good
Original as a remaster is available already and it's pretty awesome, just dated with its mechanics. This looks like it streamlines a lot of the complicated stuff and builds on and modernizes what was already an amazing, though clunky game. This will be a major treat.
Love this series, doesnt get enough attention these days unless you were one of the lucky people who actually played through an entire SaGa game, too many people that rather be told what to do next or be brainless than actually paying attention. I would love to see a remake of SaGa Frontier or Romancing SaGa 3 as well please :)

Maybe just me, but I seem to prefer Square's lower fidelity games over their AAAA games. Not to say Final Fantasy XVI wasn't fun, but I seem to enjoy Octopath, Trials of Mana, etc more.
Please make a new line of this franchise with good budget too. This is really one of their sleepers. But all the focus is going to their best games. I can't wait to play this.

Looks excellent. Day one buy. I am an old school jrpg lover so I will always prefer the 2D style (Adore the HD 2D of many modern titles) but this looks sweet too. Great announcement!

If anything, I feel like this remake now will make this distinction even more essential. It's like Romancing SaGa vs Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song vs Romancing SaGa Minstrel Song Remastered. There are differences between "this looks like you've made it from stratch" and "this looks like you took an existing base game and improved it"

Finally, a REMAKE instead of another lazy emulation-based "remaster." I hope there's a LINEAR MODE for new Saga fans. I love Kenji Itoi's musical scores in the Saga franchise. But I always found the games to be too difficult and nonlinear.

Finally, a REMAKE instead of another lazy emulation-based "remaster." I hope there's a LINEAR MODE for new Saga fans. I love Kenji Itoi's musical scores in the Saga franchise. But I always found the games to be too difficult and nonlinear.
