It does look good, but I’ve noticed few details, texture lags a bit for loading, and frames slow down in some scenes, but none of this has affected my gameplay so far… really enjoying it, the battle mechanic is very fun.

Loved the demo, I like how it doesn't waste time with tons of dialog like Metaphor Fantazio and combat is pretty much alot like Octopath traveler which is a great thing.
Me when I hate reading and try to pass it off as criticism. As a guy who's played Metaphor, it is way less railroady than Persona and I like those games.
@DoubleStrike-ye6tw too much reading is not fun specially if it's part of the main story. There needs to be a good balance between dialog and combat. From software almost completly avoids dialog or simply makes it optional so the game becomes more fun faster. But I do like a good balance of both.
Oh sure, easy to forget about dragon quest v and phantasy star 3 for their flawed marriage systems. Am surprised RS2 had so much more coverage than the dull remaster 😂 but always helps to compare or view in a vacuum. This is way different from RS3 (nonlinear and heavy grinding but has a war system for Khalid/Harix or Mikhail) or saga scarlet grace ambitions, which has popup presentation and a charge points battle system to not spam strong moves with everyone, let alone at beginning of a battle. Saga Emerald Beyond uses it too.

Why because in mega man you got defeat a bunch of bosses and in Phantasy Star 3 you keep playing the game even after you beat it as a different person from a later generation from the first when you beat it the first time. That's my frame of reference because I never played any Romancing games before except with women of course. 😎

When they say "your decisions will dramatically alter the story" is that true or just said, like so often? Because that would be very interesting with a setup like this.
Without too many spoilers, I once went to a mission location in the wrong order and it resulted in two out of three important characters in that questline dying. If anything, the choices matter a bit too much in that there is hardly any indication in what is the “right” choice that gets you new recruits. I have missed out on two different classes because I had no idea you had to clear a mission a specific way to get them to join you.
Xeen should continue to do 3D remakes of 2D games. Rework the towns and dungeons. Next is either Romancing SaGa 3 or Chrono Trigger. I’m sure either of them would fare very well as 3D remakes.

Catch me finishing this game with no recruits because I missed the context clues.
This AMAZING looking Romancing Saga 2 Revenge of the Seven shows how Square Enix makes the BEST JRPGs and I will DEFIENITILY play this on Switch thank you Nintendo and Square Enix! 😮❤

But if the power is only inherited from Emperor to Emperor... Why would you ever need any team mates considering they won't ever be as powerful..? Just something that started bothering my brain... I wonder if this was the case in original RS2 as well.. hmm..
In the OG the strength of new allies scales to the emperor so you don’t have to worry too much, the only thing that’s really lost is weapon skill levels when an ally dies (in the castle you can relearn techs that have been obtained in previous generations).
Seems interesting but I have the permanent death mechanic, and even if you have "heirs", I may not like the aesthetics of the next available character. It also seems like it expects you to die in the game which, again, a mechanic that I hate.
Is this a sequel to the first game? I know nothing about the series so I wanted to know if I need to play the first game or not? Like I don't need to play Final Fantasy 2 to understand Final Fantasy 10

The permadeath is a little tricky here. You have a number of how many times you can die, before being permanent. But this is part of the strategy.
Just don't save the game after a death and retry the battle.
