It's worth it. Nothing sanitized like dq3 while being $10 lower and having a demo that lets you access the improved UI (glimmer icons help to know what to repeat to learn). Lots more new stuff too. I'm a little confused at first but it seems this is a different vid from the last developer's message square enix had as I don't think Leon and his generations were mentioned.
The original and the remaster are great games. If you’re new to the SaGa series, stay patient and learn. It’s really worth it, especially for this game.
You probably won't like all SaGa games, but >Romancing SaGa 2 >Romancing SaGa 3 >SaGa Frontier >SaGa Frontier 2 (this one hasn't got HD remaster, yet) >The Last Remnant (unofficial SaGa game) are must play.
Making the effort to present in English to English-speaking audiences, and placing his role in the development of this and other games, adds to the personable quality of the presentation.
Worth mentioning, if anyone is worried that the game is too handholdy (like I was), you can individually turn off most if not all of the added QoL stuff, like the indicator that tells you when you will glimmer a skill, or even map markers. This allows you to keep what you want and turn off what you think is too much. It's fantastic to have this level of customization over the game systems and I really appreciate this game for including it. It manages to cater both to hardcore SaGa fans as well as newcomers at the same time, with no compromise. Just amazing.
Despite being a huge RPG fan, this was a series that I'd never even dipped my toes into before the demo, and I was blown away by it. The skill evolution system hooked me immediately. Can't wait for the release!
You will not be disappointed. This is probably my favorite game in the series, and if the demo and trailers are any indication, the remake is going to blow the original game out of the water. Enjoy!
@@Shuukuriimudaisuki-samaI’m hopeful this leads to another remake in the future if it does well enough. It really hooked me too. I’m familiar with Romancing Saga but this remake really is perfect in the classic RPG sense. A true modern coat of paint for absolute classic rpg stylings. That’s one of my favorite things about DQ, the last one will go down in the annals of rpg history as being a modern masterpiece in the genre, RS2 Remake has a very good chance of doing the same.
@@Kerunou That pretty much sums up my feelings on it. They really pulled out the stops with the new QoL features, and I'm really excited for the expanded story of The Seven Heroes before the fall (the original game gives you enough information to paint a mental picture of events, but I think this will make it even more interesting, to dig a bit deeper into their story). A lot of people that have never touched a SaGa game before seem to be intrigued by the remake, and with all the SaGa love in the last few years, I think we can expect even more remakes and new titles. There is also the supposed SaGa Frontier 2 remaster that was teased (way too preemptively?) a couple years ago that will hopefully come out someday soon... I would not mind seeing a full remake of that one, as it's the closest other title in the series to RS2, which I love. The only downside to a full remake would be losing the watercolor aesthetic though, so...maybe just a remaster would be best after all. Loved that artistic style. And of course, RS3 would be another good choice for a remake. Here's hoping!
You won't regret taking the plunge. The SaGa series has a lot of "non-traditonal" qualities as far as JRPGs go, and it can be a bit overwhelming at first, but this remake (and the Romancing SaGa 1 remake, Minstrel Song) do a good job of explaining mechanics, so I think anyone can jump in and get used to them quickly. Hope you enjoy your time with the series!
I played the remaster after hearing great things about the romancing saga series. I won't lie, the first time I played I dropped the game after 2 hours and picked it up again one year later and I was instantly hooked, the battles are hard and require you to use your full arsenal, while the game is open it always gives you instructions on what to do so you are never lost or wondering where to go next. Many people consider this game to be a masterpiece and it's easy to see why, just don't expect the game to hold your hand because the game will definitely punish you (but I think it's hard to get into an impossible situation)
The original game can be kind of brutal. Even with the best possible gear and most powerful spells and techs, endgame level enemies can steamroll you easily. I welcome the challenge and how the game does not hold your hand. It's honestly one of my favorite games because of all the little systems working in the background to make each playthrough unique, and it has a very interesting story. Can't wait for the full release of the remake in a few days!
Firstly. I'm pleasantly surprised that Mr Tatsuke is bilingual. And yeah of all the Saga games (That I know about) this is the one that interests me the most because of the structure. Heck after playing the demo I want to get the Collection of Saga to see the series roots.
I am really excited for this remake. It looks and sounds gorgeous, and with the new content added, it's certain to be a big hit. I loved the original Romancing SaGa 2, and it's probably my favorite game in the SaGa series overall, so the potential for a remake like this had been on my mind since Minstrel Song came out on PlayStation 2 almost 20 years ago. A huge thank you to Tatsuke-san and all the staff who clearly gave their all for this project - it's a dream come true for many old fans like myself, and hopefully it will attract some new fans as well!

But I'm looking forward to this iteration so much and it's nice that you have the option to play on the classic difficulty - albeit with the new rest areas added to the dungeons which frankly is perfectly fine because I think the original was honestly too hard (it's the most difficult entry in the franchise IIRC and possibly the hardest RPG ever on the SNES) I hope it sells well, and that SQEX continues to give you guys more projects ^^b

Hello! I will also say that most SaGa games really aren't that insanely hard as long as you come at them the right way with an open mind. They're complex and intimidating if you try to "do everything" but I'd just go with the flow and don't worry about missing things!

Square Enix has shamed me for the last two years.
@@Unknown_User174 yeah I don't like square enix too... But this one looks like they did a good job. I'm not buying dragon quest 3 hd2d remake, even I'm being a huge dragon quest fan. But if they really did good with this one, I think I will give a positive feedback. Everyone deserves a path to redemption.
The game also looked kinda interesting to me...., but honestly when the video showed the old character artworks in comparison to the 3D models, I didn't see much similarity, sadly
It performs pretty well on switch. Load times are at least infrequent and not massive from start to rebooting a save. And yeah dq3 is pretty much a sad squidward meme of everyone else having fun outside 😂
@@hothrin2886 it is a 3d model of a 16 bit pixel art. of course it will not be similar, but they kept the essence of the design imo.
and most important I didn't notice any major censorship.
Prepare to be romanced!
The funny thing is, as far as I know the only reason the series is named that is because of a romance in a side quest series in the first game that is entirely missable lol
Should i buy this for Switch or PS5?
4:20 lmao I know this probably isn’t what he meant but I love the idea of a choice where you can either recruit a character or DESTROY A COUNTRY
There is a magic school you can unlock but only if you eradicate an entire race lol
Well ported to Nintendo Switch
I feel a little bad, the poor guy looks like he hadn't slept in weeks in this video, the bags under his eyes are enormous. The game was an auto-buy for me, I love me some SaGa, I just hope they didn't have to crunch much to get it done.
