Here is the pinned comment: A lot of people are having issues with Ymir not moving from his throne. Make sure you have done the following: 1. Talk to Ymir after interacting with first Hanging Bell (Rhia) 2. Rest at site of grace, go beneath throne, and instantly fast travel back out (don't move forward) 3. Talk to Ymir again, he should have a little something to say about it. 4. Go to second Hanging Bell and interact with it (Dheo) 5. Talk to Ymir and Jolan through all new dialogue (including asking about the nature of this world), rest at a Site of Grace. 6. Some have said it has to be nighttime. After that, Ymir should move from his chair. If he doesn't then there is some other bug or issue afoot that I do not completely understand. Something else: When Ymir moves from his chair he can be found in the graveyard talking about his mother. I think he leaves a spell behind in the graveyard too. I'm pretty sure early access to the final area is intended. I went there, fought an npc and was very confused. Went back and rested, Ymir was back and the hole was closed again. When I spoke to Ymir, he acknowledged that I've been there too early, by saying something like "Oh, did you see something you maybe shouldn't have seen? Don't worry, we all make mistakes"

I disagree people are hear for the quest why waste time showing how to get to this part of the map or getting map fragments if people want to find a certain map piece or find how to get to the certain grace they can search that part about 30% of this guide is unnecessary

THIS IS AMAZING!!! Everyone has been saying get the sword get the sword, but I knew that had to be more to the spirit summon that no one was covering, AND YOU GOT IT!!! Thanks a ton man I'm definitely getting the summon
From software always have patches do change the game. I think as a reward of a long quest, this sword will be OP in the future. I love the twin ashes too and i think it is very useful in boss battles, but i love the sword :)

Its the first place Marika set foot after she left The Lands of the Numen when The Greater Will chose her for godhood, i think thats why the Main Theme OST

So it’s like Chinatown for example and the horn sent hated their guts n put them in jars, but marika became a god to get back at them lol
You can complete Moore's quest pretty early and it's isolated enough that it only really has one interaction with another quest. The stuff you get out of it is super worth it.

When you return up to the grace and rest, Ymir is back and when talking with him he's like "You see something you shouldn't have... anyways, moving on" LOL

For the mother of fingers I found that the Fallingstar beast jaw +10 and the mimic worked best. just keep spamming the gravity bolt attack while mimic distracts it
Just learned about this rn; if you're struggling with the purple projectiles, you can use the shield crack-tear in your physik to make things easier. The shield won't break and the enemies won't be able to grab you after you've been hit. Rlly strange but it worked for me.
I actually love this guys content. His guide throughout the quest is concise and caring of the player and in depth explanations and tip along the adventure. After I complete a well completed guide I also get to know I helped feed his cat. Goat 🐐
After The questline you can go to the graveyard outside the cathedral and find the sorcery that Ymir used in the battle that surround you with fingers👍

In case someone wants to kill bosses with the Sword of Night only, you can drop down north of Thiollier to reach Fort of Reprimand and skip Renalla. have a good one

you can find ymir outside the kathedral talking to some grave during the time he is not on his chair after the first but before clearing the second bell. its not a bug that he's gone i supose. You can hear him mumble something about just wanting to be a mother. When you talk to him he asks you to give him a moment of privacy and that he'll meet you back inside.
Great video. I managed to do most of this quest line before I watched but wanted to let you know that it isn’t a bug. You can go down and fight Jolans sister and come back up. Rest at the grace and talk to Ymir. Tell him you saw something weird and he will brush you off after exhausting dialogue. Quest will continue just fine

@@ItsShatter is it possible to get both (I'm on PlayStation) if i save the game, uplaod in in the cloud, choose the katana, give ot a friend, load the save in the cloud, choose now the summon and then let the friend drop the katana. I haven't done cloud save games for items yet, so I'm unsure

For anyone struggling with the boss near end of video the new lightning spear spell does stagger it in two charged casts, riposte, cast once more while getting up then one more to repeat the cycle. Got it second try like this

When Ymir is up from his chair at the end of the quest line before you interact with his chair, go west out of the passage way by Nolan for an interesting interaction with Ymir at the headstones.
So I got to the point where I was able to open up the secret passage where the person is usually sitting on the chair but I didn't climb down the ladder. I accidentally rolled off and ever since then I've tried waiting till night and the person never leaves the chair. Did I accidentally screw up the quest or am I missing a step?
That was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Stumbled up the to the Shadow Keep Church district in mostly by mistake. Missed out on the Grave Ghostwort, tho.. drained the water too early
when he leave his chair at first time and you go down if you go a bit deeper you will get invated killing the invation then go back and you have 2 more dialogs with Ymir and one you mantion later with Jolan
Thanks for this guide! Very clear and well put together. I prolly would've chosen the katana if I hadn't known about the spirit ashe combo. I'm not doing a dex build on my main so the Sword of Night, while super cool looking, would've gone unused.😅
OMG I just banged my head against a wall until I defeated gaius cause I assumed I had to fight him 😅 He’s crazy hard, I try not to watch all the way when searching quests up, to not spoil, but man I wish I watched like 30 more seconds haha. Side note, to make gaius bearable, I used cold dry leaf arts, and full bull goat set, and just stacked a bunch of HP. With bull goats and doing palm strike you have so much poise and hyper armour that you can just trade with him and keep healing when you need. Alexander shard, Godfrey icon, Morgott rune, and then the charge attack physic, and literally just keep trading with fully charged palm strikes. It might take a few tries due to rng, but this made him actually feel bearable. Otherwise he feels like most unbalanced enemy in game lol
21:50 by the way. The quest is “bugged”, if you don’t blow horn 1 and go direct to horn 2. Then he will disappear from his Throne. But if you die. He won’t leave the Throne and your Rune will be stuck down there. Until you blow in horn 1 🙂
research and experimentation! My good friend Krazyflips found the gesture and mentioned to look out for statues doing a similar pose to the one at the end of shadow keep.
When you get Ymir's robes, ALTER IT!! I wish I could include a screenshot of what it looks like, but it is absolutely awesome and one of the best looking pieces of gear you can get! You get a massive white cloak, fingers bursting out of your chest and down each leg, weird tied up fingers dangling from the cloak, a maroon color change, and the regular cowl portion that you would normally see. I HIGHLY recommend it!!
To anyone that did both of the hanging bells and Ymir wont move from this throne, what fixed my issue was that I didn't interact with any of his dialogue options. So once I exhausted all of his dialogue options and reset, he had moved.
Thanks, great guide. Fortunately I found the Mother of Fingers pretty easy, beat her on my 1st attempt with the Great Katana equipped with spinning gravity thrust.
Also after choosing which iris you use. Go check Yuri's grave site for another finger spell. P.S. Yumir is also at Yuri's grave site after you get the chance to go underground.
Unless there's 2 you can get in the church district, the grave glovewort you get just moves down to the ground once the water is lowered, as if the body fell off the side during the change
so there are actually two Iris of Graces the second pair can be found in the flooded area, once the water level goes down you can find by exploring that area and killing the ulcerated tree spirit.

talk to ymir and select all the option until there's only "shop" and "leave" i got stuck here for 30min until i do that hope this help

For anyone struggling with the boss near end of video the new lightning spear spell does stagger it in two charged casts, riposte, cast once more while getting up then one more to repeat the cycle. Got it second try like this

When Ymir is up from his chair at the end of the quest line before you interact with his chair, go west out of the passage way by Nolan for an interesting interaction with Ymir at the headstones.

So I got to the point where I was able to open up the secret passage where the person is usually sitting on the chair but I didn't climb down the ladder. I accidentally rolled off and ever since then I've tried waiting till night and the person never leaves the chair. Did I accidentally screw up the quest or am I missing a step?

That was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Stumbled up the to the Shadow Keep Church district in mostly by mistake. Missed out on the Grave Ghostwort, tho.. drained the water too early
when he leave his chair at first time and you go down if you go a bit deeper you will get invated killing the invation then go back and you have 2 more dialogs with Ymir and one you mantion later with Jolan

Thanks for this guide! Very clear and well put together. I prolly would've chosen the katana if I hadn't known about the spirit ashe combo. I'm not doing a dex build on my main so the Sword of Night, while super cool looking, would've gone unused.😅

Right after you beat Ymir boss fight go out to the graveyard and get the cherishing fingers spell. I missed this spell my first play through!
Quick tip for Metyr, use bloodhound fang or any bleed weapon. Shes incredibly weak to bleed damage.

OMG I just banged my head against a wall until I defeated gaius cause I assumed I had to fight him 😅
He’s crazy hard, I try not to watch all the way when searching quests up, to not spoil, but man I wish I watched like 30 more seconds haha.
Side note, to make gaius bearable, I used cold dry leaf arts, and full bull goat set, and just stacked a bunch of HP. With bull goats and doing palm strike you have so much poise and hyper armour that you can just trade with him and keep healing when you need.
Alexander shard, Godfrey icon, Morgott rune, and then the charge attack physic, and literally just keep trading with fully charged palm strikes. It might take a few tries due to rng, but this made him actually feel bearable. Otherwise he feels like most unbalanced enemy in game lol

21:50 by the way. The quest is “bugged”, if you don’t blow horn 1 and go direct to horn 2.
Then he will disappear from his Throne. But if you die. He won’t leave the Throne and your Rune will be stuck down there. Until you blow in horn 1 🙂

research and experimentation! My good friend Krazyflips found the gesture and mentioned to look out for statues doing a similar pose to the one at the end of shadow keep.

When you get Ymir's robes, ALTER IT!! I wish I could include a screenshot of what it looks like, but it is absolutely awesome and one of the best looking pieces of gear you can get! You get a massive white cloak, fingers bursting out of your chest and down each leg, weird tied up fingers dangling from the cloak, a maroon color change, and the regular cowl portion that you would normally see. I HIGHLY recommend it!!
Also for those who like the fashion aspect of elden ring, the exile hood matches it perfectly!

To anyone that did both of the hanging bells and Ymir wont move from this throne, what fixed my issue was that I didn't interact with any of his dialogue options. So once I exhausted all of his dialogue options and reset, he had moved.

Fortunately I found the Mother of Fingers pretty easy, beat her on my 1st attempt with the Great Katana equipped with spinning gravity thrust.

Also after choosing which iris you use. Go check Yuri's grave site for another finger spell. P.S. Yumir is also at Yuri's grave site after you get the chance to go underground.
I wanted the sword for an Ichigo themed playthrough but I felt so bad for Jolan.. Always next playthrough for the sword I suppose. Great video.

You can get another iris of occultation from a ulcerated tree spirit once you drained the water in the shadow keep
Unless there's 2 you can get in the church district, the grave glovewort you get just moves down to the ground once the water is lowered, as if the body fell off the side during the change

The sword of night is actually really strong at +10 with high dex I got close to 4,000 damage with the charged skill with no buffs

so there are actually two Iris of Graces the second pair can be found in the flooded area, once the water level goes down you can find by exploring that area and killing the ulcerated tree spirit.
