    The older I get, the more I appreciate music like this. Zero 7, Air, The Cinematic Orchestra etc..... Rhodes, bass guitar, lighter drums , with light guitar. Maybe I’m just old as dirt, 44 but I tell myself it’s the evolution of my musical taste.

      i go the other direction. only listened to mellow stuff in my youth. now 40 ive discovered NIN and Ministry for myself.:) still like the other stuff though. Throughout all the time Mr. Tom Waits remains the unquestionable Nr. 1

      It's not that diatonic. There are a bunch of accidentals and inharmonic textures outside the implied harmony

    Just in case it hasn’t been mentioned yet, Michael Parker & Kevin Suggs are absolute legends. This sounds incredible. Floating Points and the band killed it too.

      There's nothing "jazz" about this music at all. It's post rock with some nice synth work. I wouldn't call Tortoise jazz either, even though it's a lot more jazzy than this. www.apassion4jazz.net/jazz.html

    I've been listening to Abbey Rd. and Maida Vale sessions for so long, KEXP captures the live vibe better than the 'Best'

    I'm late to the party (December 2020, the year that was...well, you'll remember).
    When my grandchildren ask me about That year, 2020, I'll say that I was fortunate to hear this performance, and may perhaps briefly mention some trumpety balls, but will go straight back to this glorious musical banquet.
    Best thing I heard in years, particularly THIS one.
