    I was in London by chance for work. A colleague invited me to the show, but I had not heard of Jacob Collier before. The first song of the show had me with goosebumps. Then he played, “What a wonderful world“ with his mom, and that made my year. But this performance was the best musical experience I’ve had in all of my 58 years on earth. It was my first JC concert, but it will not be my last.
    Just pure bliss that healed a part of my soul. ❤

    • @BassByTheBay
      @BassByTheBay Месяц назад +23

      @@os-qt1hc It helps that there are many musicians in the audience, but all Jacob is really doing is giving you your starting note and cueing whether you go up or down to the next note in the scale. Even people who don't understand a single thing about music theory know what a major/minor scale sounds like, so I bet you'd get it even if you didn't get it right away.

      @BassByTheBay I can sing CDEFGAHC or the other way round if it goes in this exact order, but if you take any of these sounds (or notes or whatever they are called) out of this exact order, I have no idea which sound is what note and what sound is lower and what sound is higher. Also, I have absolutely no clue what minor scale (or any other scale) sounds like. And I've been playing guitar for 20+ years. I can play basic chords on a guitar (C, D, Dm, E, Em, F, Fm, G , A, Am, H, Hm, D7, A7 and maybe a couple more). I can play some songs by ear even if I only hear them once, but the way I do it is I try to play random chords until I find the correct ones. I have zero knowledge of music theory. And I have friends and family who are even worse. They are not even able to sing any of the songs we sing in church every Sunday. They seem to be totally done deaf. If I play them something on a guitar, they never know if my guitar is out of tune, they seem to like anything I play. So I know that there are people whose musical abilities are much worse tham mine. That is why I cannot comprehend how +-5000 people (out of which 1/3 might be tone deaf, 1/3 might be like me and 1/3 might be really good) are able to understand what he wants from them and they even sound good together. But I guess it is possible that half of the people are just keeping quiet and the camera just shows us those who are singing

    This is the prime example of why he is genius. It’s not the stuff he writes and produces. It’s the magic of live creative performance. Shout out to two of my favorite artists of my life. Cheers bruddas!

      So this event was more magical than the Nazi's being defeated and concentration camp prisoners being freed instead of gassed, or when we went to the moon, or when slavery was "abolished" and I use quotes because there are more slaves living today than any recent point in the last 500yrs especially child slaves trafficked across the open border. I have no doubt that was a great magical moment to be there while a song was played but you claim it was the most magical moment ON EARTH and I can think of hundreds of other truly magical moments that easily surpass hearing a collaboration at a concert. If you would have said it was the most magical thing YOU have seen then I wouldn't be commenting. But you said ON EARTH. Magical monents on earth are defeating Nazism, Socialism and Marxism which took tens of millions of innocent lives. Ending those is magical.

    Jacob deserves a nomination for a Noble Peace Prize for his ccontributions to Unity and Humanity through music. He creates profoundly healing and fulfilling unity with an astonishing universal language he's discovered that's innate to humanity. Additionally, he's unifying the languages of music across music genres and cultures through his internationally-lauded contributions to the science of music and global music education. I encourage the people on the Nobel committee to attend a large event of his to experience the result of his Gifts and generosity. and leave the venue with a sense of unprecedented peace, connection and hope. His nomination would acknowledge and encourage the natural abilities of humanity to resonate, create, and live harmoniously together.

    You know, let’s make a pact. As we head into a new year, for every horrible piece of news, for every unconscionable act by a fellow human, let’s remember this and other moments where music binds us, and lifts us above our basest fears and behaviours to remind us of the good in us, or what we’re capable of in bringing us together and lifting us in joy. Let’s just try that for a while.

    Whomever you are, wherever you are, whatever you've been through or whatever you are going through, whether you are full of joy or deep in sorrow, whether surrounded by loved ones or alone. Know that you are loved, know that you matter, know that you have something unique that the world needs, you have a gift to share that you need to share, you have a light in you that is needed to push away the shadows to grow the light of others a little brighter. Share the gift you have in you.

    That girl with tears streaming down her face is the image of what this song means. You just cannot prevent the tears from coming. They just pour out, cause the notes touch our inner chords and it's just beyond control. It talks to the soul. Chris himself seems to get lost at a certain point, cause he understands his song now belongs to the universe and to God. This would be cathartic if played on tonight's New Year's Eve!

I lost my stepson well I was more like his mom from 9 y/o till 22y/o he passed away December 29,2023 then 6 months later I lost my boyfriend (Dad) this song had me feel closer to them 1st time I felt peace and calm along with the tears.
