Jacob's tenderness is always the upper most layer of his creations, and his excellence is not perfection, but rather it is found in the vastness and depth of his expressiveness.
I will praise this way to the next barista
Oo er, missus
❤ well formulated
🎉
Beautifully said🙂
These are the siblings that got visited by the Cat in the Hat.
This is the best comment here. Well done sir or madam.
And they missed their dear friend(The Cat in the Hat) like Summer Rain. Pun intended.
That moment at @3:04 ❤
Sam I am.
i just LOVE watching orchestra members watching jacob ❤
There's definitely a few smiles happening. Musicians love seeing other musicians just letting the music flow from them.
Just what I thought 🙏🏻🥹
There's some adoration on their faces, and no wonder -this young man is adorable.
He's no singer that's for sure, maybe mediocre.
Yeah maybe mediocre if that. @@stevewebb7126
I love seeing Jacob with Dodie.
They've come a long way since their cover of The Beatles' "Here Comes The Sun"!
What a great time to be alive, I'm so glad of being able to listen Jacob and his universe.
Why don't you make a universe like him?
This is the first time I'm hearing this song, and oh am I so very touched by all the lyrics in dodie's verse. "You held me down before," "I'm so free without you," and yet I'm "gonna miss you like summer rain." This feels like it is speaking my soul. "I get by, so high," higher than with you. But you persist in being a part of me. And I continue to miss the times we had that were sweet and joyous, like rain in the summer. What an incredibly beautiful representation of the dichotomy of this kind of grief, coupled by joy. It feels like it's telling me that it's okay to have both, and it makes that grief feel sweeter somehow. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everyone involved in bringing this music to life ❤
Many people still do not realize that we are in front of one of the best musicians of recent times. Let's take advantage and enjoy because that is surely what Jacob wants us to do with his genius.
People who write this kind of comments do not realize how many truly incredible musicians are out there. This is not to diminish Jacob, who is truly great. But there are people just as good as him, doing their own things. Jacob is better known, but not alone. Bunch of incredible composers, mind blowing multiinstrumentalists, original creators, child prodigies of all kinds. Good news for you is, you've got a lot of great things to discover.
@vecernicek2 spot on
@@vecernicek2if you know people who are “just as good as him” please tell us their names! Like I’m very open minded about this, but haven’t heard anyone come close in recent times. So I’m sceptical. But I’d really love to be shown that I’m completely wrong about this and get to hear even more genius music! Thanks for your answer :)
@@dolefomi Antoine Boyer, young guitarist. Gadi Lehavi, piano player. Sol Gabetta, classical cellist. Nastia Tiurina, child prodigy balalaika player. Keith Jarrett - no description needed. Cory Henry, multi-instrumentalist, singer. The list could be very long.
@@vecernicek2 most of the people will always be very little known, so this list will always be vastly incomplete.
You can't really compare two people one by one, though. They all have their own talent, just as Jacob has his.
It's like he knows how to target the most vulnerable spot you have as a listener and then just nurture it gently. Incredible. Happened with almost every song of his I've heard
I HAVE DREAMED FOR THIS DAY, FOR THEM TO DO ANOTHER COLLAB because I know the pure admiration they just have for each other, and to sing SUMMER RAIN??? MADE MY YEAR 💞
I’d describe myself as more impressed by JC than really into his music, but boy can he orchestrate. And these chord progressions are so Bruce Hornsby, quite nice. I think he’s going to wind up making something that I really love
Go and listen to the live recording of Little Blue or Fix You. They both reduce many people to tears, including me.
I love it when he doesn’t over do the fancy chord progressions. Like another poster commented- for me the real beauty is in his sensitivity not in his impressive musical tricks
Chuck and Steve,
I would add Bridge Over Troubled Waters to that list.
And his choral piece, is it O World?
@@stevecoulthard8060 Just saw him in Mexico, I cried with those 2 songs. I can't explain it, but it was one of the highlights of my life, it moved me in a way no other artist has had that effect on me. I flew from Guatemala just to see him haha.
My day isn’t complete without a song from Jacob. 😊
I'm crying bro. This is beautiful. I love both Dodie and Jacob's voices, and the orchestra is doing a GREAT job. There's such warmth in this. Thank you for the upload.
The arrangement of this is just out of this world. Incredible performance! 💙
This is so childlike and it killed me 😭 if only every human could be as vulnerable as Jacob and Dodie.
Oh my lord. I'm in tears.
Unbelievable…. This was incredible in person
I’m so jealous wow
So was the audience all trained singers or just normal ppl?
@@nathanvarghese. Likely normal people, but Jacob lovers are typically also musically gifted haha. Plus he's a good director!
@@nathanvarghese. I was at his live piano once and he did the same thing too and the crowd just vibe along and harmonize. You'd be surprised of what a combination of normal people could do in unison, truly spectacular ⭐
Dodie is gonna have a lot more fans after these videos, and a lot more people crushing on her. :)
I'm so proud of her. She's incredible and has come so far. Her voice was perfect for this song :') 🤍
They complement each other perfectly
First time I ever got to tears on a RUclips Video... A great Bravo from France and all the world for this fascinating music ! It inspires me so much for my own work. It makes me wanna work like crazy to get this emotion... Love on all of you, people of the earth.
That was so warmful, Dodie and Jacob Collier always were an incredible duo!
This is so lush and beautiful
Nearly unbelievable! Wonderful arrangement with Zero to 100 % dynamics! Great!!!
Amazing!!!!!! Ben Folds, you sneaky devil. I had no idea this was going on. The Kennedy Center is so lucky! Bravo! Brava! That was awesome 👏👏👏
Jacob always says there's no such thing as a wrong note, yet he never ever seems to play one!!! Everything he does is perfection in my eyes, or ears rather.
Jacob is the child inside Peter Gabriel in the Sledgehammer video.
Get you someone who looks at you the way Dodie looks at Jacob Collier.
The genius that is Jacob Collier.......
What a incredible performance. More than a song.. an experience .. a journey to a better place filled with beauty beyond words❤️👍
Insane. Incredible. Beautiful. There are no words that fully describe this.
Love the overalls
My favorite of the program, except maybe the finale (!) Tears at such sensitivity and beauty.
Jacob is one of the most underrated artists of our generation
ive heard of j. collier, and i freakin' love dodie. i did not expect this to be an experience. wow. wow.
I just couldn't stop smiling throughout this. What a beautiful way to start my day.
this melts my heart
O soul of achingly wistful harmony…..
Perfectly described
his voice is like a kiss on my skin😏💋
Absolutely beautiful!
Just bring tears to my eyes. Thank you for sharing and Maestro Jacob ,Dodie and Nso 🙏🏾
How great would have been being part of the orchestra that night. Time stopped I bet. ❤
Dodie and Jacob! - Love them both!
Gives me hope when I see SO's working with "modern" artists. It's the perfect mixture of new and old forms of musical expression and only brings good.
That performance was incredibly moving!
In every version of this that I've heard (this, the studio recording, and the mahogany session), my favorite part is invariably the tension in the chords and subsequent release on the second verse. In this case, it's when Dodie sings "don't love you anymore" and "so high"
Music taken to a new level
Oh my god, that was unbelievable.
Canons at 6:15 are just heavenly.
Absolutely incredible!
Incredibly beautiful ...
3:38-3:46
“I don’t know your name or feel your shame, but I miss you like Summer Rain”
That’s a nice line.
Absolute perfection from everyone involved. Thank you x
MUSIC is still alive - thank you Jacob!
Did not have a dodie/Jacob Collier/NSO collab on my 2024 bingo but this is so breathtakingly lovely
(Also, is she not wearing shoes? Love that for her tbh)
In case you are interested, on the PBS youtube channel, there is another song from this concert, featuring also Laufey.

A massage for the soul
So so beautiful! Thank you for sharing, I always love to hear what these two put out 🤍🤍
Saw you tonight at Austin ACL live. It was an amazing concert. Thank you for sharing your magic!
Quelle beauté !!!! Perfection, douceur, caresses, délicate musique céleste.
This is really nice. Summer rain is probably the song I've listened to the most this year. And they performed it really well. Glad you are a believer.
an amazing and beautiful song and performance
Incredible !!!
This is MAGIC ❤
BEAUTIFUL 😀
Oh wow, that was good - would love to see him, the Mozart of our day!
trop smooth
☀️☔️☺️😍how incredibly beautiful.
amazing!
Very nice!
Jacob should create scores for movies.
Dodie…. At the Kennedy Centre.
so good
Just wow
lovely
That piano riff at @2:05 ... .OH MY WORD
Wonderful. All I ask is that you allow auto-generated captions for us with severe hearing loss.
dodie💜
Incredible harmony at 5:59-6:12
Dodie, Jacob - thanks
ㅊㅋㅊㅋㅊㅋ
2:11 Dad goals.
Awesome!❤❤😂
Have to say I’ve been an admirer but never a fan of Jacob’s music and his particularly scattergun brand of delivery and production. But this is a revelation: an exceptional song brilliantly arranged and delivered. And, my god, the piano playing is nothing short of magnificent. He’s so much better and more convincing without all the bells and whistles. I’ll be very interested to see where he goes next.
oh my god
Amazing! What are the notes he made the audience sing?
And I thought this was going to be a cover of the 1990 Belinda Carlisle single.
❤❤❤❤❤
Please feature Sleeping at Last in my lifetime. Thank you.
First time I see a soul sign
🐐
Is he flavoring w Debussy?
No comments needed just 🤯!
,,more than words can say🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
♥
🥺
💋
That modulation. So unexpected of anyone. Except Jacob...
Chorus sounds a lot like "Patience" by Take That!
This man creates pure magic. There's just no other way to say it. Also, I could watch other people reacting to his magic all day.
what happend from @4:46 to 4:56 ??? 🤯🤯!
