i've listened to this 100 times and I still get deep goosebumps when the the cymbal crashes and the synth fully comes in at 6:10. Sometimes it literally bring tears to my eyes it's so pretty
It's been a minute since a performance stuck with me so long after the fact. I wasn't at this particular show but watching this is giving me chills right now. The set was something else; flowing naturally, always building and tranforming. And the visual installation is a performance art piece in itself. Perfectly complementing the electronic jazz and heavy psychedelia. Picture a big blank disk with just a few floating points of light on it while the first atmospheric sounds of the set are starting to build... as the music rises so does the layers of light and lasers on the disk, the oldest layers fading to make room for the new, eventually forming full displays of patterns and sacred geometric designs during the climax of the set. Amazing work on both fronts. Do not miss these guys if you have the opportunity.
About 5mins in hints of early U2 guitars with a Blade Runner vibe to my humble ears, where has this magnificence been all my life, a soundscape to adore, OBN for me...
The way he makes that synth wail during the main sections is just beautiful. Can't stop thinking about it. So excited to see them in a couple of weeks!
HOLY SHIT! How have I only just discovered you guys?!?! (from a Korg Volca FB group.) This expanded format of a song, ie not just 'verse, chorus, verse, chorus, solo' is so appealing to my brain. It's making it pump out all the happy chemicals :)
Of course my first youtube comment is going to be on a floating points record. I had to stop halfway through the song to check whether I was still really in my room!!! Who else loves these guys??
I don´t know how to explain all the feelings that invades myself when I listen this song... SUCH AMAZING thanks thanks.... Is just like be in the fucking universe, disconnected of all.
Haha, yeah, most people use volca beats for the kick i would assume. But the snare can certainly be used in a cool way. This video is a great example of it.
ma man turned the worst snare in analog drum machine history into the core riff of this masterpiece

Walked past them at Primavera 2 mins into playing this; stayed for the rest of their gig. Extraordinary. One of the best tracks I've ever seen live
This is pure genius, the end is perfect it has such a strong pink-floyd vibe.

This song is insane. What a masterpiece.
Holy shit this is beautiful
Always come back to this one
This the type of joint that makes you look around to check if anyone else is a witness to such greatness 👌🏼

HAH! I just realized the pun: The long rising tones in the beginning, - they are SHEPHERD TONES. Well done, Sam. 😁👍🏼

its safe to say floating points is a musical genius
And a regular genius too, he has a PhD in neuroscience.
Of course my first youtube comment is going to be on a floating points record. I had to stop halfway through the song to check whether I was still really in my room!!! Who else loves these guys??
