Anyone else love how they punched up the drums in the live show ?? I feel like in the late 90s/early 2000s bands recorded their drums to sound soft but these same songs with punchier drums feel like they were made this year. 😍 When we heard “run” live I thought I’d never heard it before 😱🤩
Yeah indeed! There’s a punch in the drums that makes the music sound just a little bit modern but still not that much deviating from the originals. Of course some part of it just comes from being live, but there’s some aesthetic choice there as well for sure. I think the advancements of in ear monitors play a critical role there too. Of course this does not explain the deviation from the album sound but explains why performances now sound way more punchy than before. Stage is probably almost completely silent apart from the drums, which doesn’t only makes it way easier to record and mix live performances, also allows the performers to play in a much steady and well felt velocity.
Agreed! They added some fills to liven it up, some riffs on bass and guitar as well. I didn’t think it was possible to improve over the studio versions but they nailed it
I just went to the show in Chicago. My friend and I said the exact same thing! The drumming took everything to a new level. Amazing show. I'll never forget it.
As a drummer I can tell you that this is normal for live performances. Depeche has done this for nearly every show, and it’s because no matter the music, it’s a rock concert, even if it’s not rock. You need that energy and drive and it can’t sound weak, or people will fall asleep. And I agree, for this music it adds an extra modern feel for sure.
Just saw them at the Beacon in NYC last night, the drumming was outstanding, mic-ed perfectly, greatly enhanced the whole experience. Such a great show
1998, we went home from a house club party to a friend of mine. We listened to the this sound to come down...moments I will never forget in my life.....
I remember taking this CD to a party with a group of people about 15-20 years older than me. EVERYONE loved it and kept asking what it was. I even got a job out of it at EA.

I just checked and they will be in Miami on Oct 26 at the Fillmore. They will also be in Atlanta two days prior if you live in the north of the state and it makes more sense to you. I will see them here in LA on Sep 29, hope you get to see them live too.
I just saw them yesterday at Boston. It was absolutely astonishing. One of the best concerts I have attended in my live, and I have to say that I have seen great shows (Roger waters, queen, Depeche Mode, etc). Incredible, talented musicians. There aren't better adjectives to describe their music, but I would say is simple exquisite!
Me too. Loved it. That final line when Nicholas said ‘We are Electronic Performers’ gave me goosebumps. It felt like a statement, a validation, an introduction and a goodbye, all at the same time.
Just saw them last night in Atlanta and it was easily one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Their tambor, live mix and attention to detail is second to none. Really phenomenal band.
I was AIR fan since the beginning in the 90s and now my daughter love AIR too. Endless Moon Safari 🚀💫 The last Berlin concert in july was fantastic. 🎹👍 Thank you Arte for the memories.
We saw this last night in Dalllas and they did *not* disappoint. I went with high expectations and they exceeded them. Nicolas is one of my favorite bass players, and it was such a treat to hear that gorgeous, liquid, warm tone live. I hope it’s not the last opportunity I get to see them. Merci, Nicolas & JB!! ❤️❤️
Merci beaucoup Arte 🙏🏾🪷🙏🏾 I'm 43 & have grown up with this album (most intimately in the past decade). I know the songs inside out. So it was a super emotional treat to hear these special versions by AIR. (Especially Playground Love ♥️) I'm super emotional & bawling out now. The power of music rules dominant - cyclically through time & space. Thanks for bringing back the power again 👊🏾 Also.... MAAAAD RESPECT to the stage & light designers 🙏🏾
Not a Concert an experience. I have never listened to another artist, artist's work so much as theirs. Love♥Air. Long may they create such masterpieces. Many thanks ARTE CONCERT. Fantastic sound.
I bought walkie talkie on vinyl at a time when all I listened to was techno, drum n bass, and top 40 (around 2008). It was so different, relaxing, and emotional; I couldn't stop listening to the record. I really do love these songs. Thank you!!!
One of the first vinyl records I purchased was Moon Safari when I got my record player.. I listen to that record at least a dozen times every year. What a phenomenal record and experience. Can't imagine what being in this concert was like. Thanks for capturing the amazing production.
The power of sound just arrived on my sofa! (What an amazing experience in times of scrolling, moving, running, skiping - to open a laptop and stay for 90 minutes like being caught in frozen frame.) Great performance. Thank you.
Well, Air live in Chicago was the best gig I’ve ever seen. go see them live wherever you can! Met JB and Nic before the show and they were lovely guys who didn’t mind signing my Moon Safari cd.
I just saw them in Dallas. They blew me away. Moon Safari has been deeply woven into the soundtrack of my life since it came out. That album helped get me through some pretty heavy shit. It was amazing seeing it live in this setting and arrangement. Bravo! 🙏❤

Yes, french elegance. Maybe not easy for them to play with huge stroboscopic ligths just behind. Amazing.

On this tour they are playing other tracks not on Moon Safari?
@@superseiyanyes. I saw them in Paris a few months back it was the same tracklist
Teleport from Florida to the Royal Albert Hall this is expectedly magnificent. I would fly in from the stars in the universe to be at this concert. Thank you AIR
me too!
I just checked and they will be in Miami on Oct 26 at the Fillmore. They will also be in Atlanta two days prior if you live in the north of the state and it makes more sense to you.
I will see them here in LA on Sep 29, hope you get to see them live too.
You can fly Mexico city to see them in October, cheap prices tbh
Are you fuck…… serious?
English please
Je plussoie ! C'était génial. Quelle émotion 🙏
They sound wonderful, and the lightscape is enthralling. Feeling nostalgic.
Nostalgic ? It is still Avantgarde !!
@@peterschmitz6446 Still cutting edge, no doubt, but I remember when Moon Safari first came out. Great era of music.
Finale was indeed awesome
Seeing the DC show tonight. Thanks for hyping it up!
I was at the same show in Boston and yes they were absolutely extraordinary. Easily in my top 10 favorite concerts.
@@levn7327 those bass lines were just 😘
Just saw them last night in Atlanta and it was easily one of the best live shows I've ever seen. Their tambor, live mix and attention to detail is second to none. Really phenomenal band.
Cherry Blossom Girl is one of my favorites!
The stage design & visuals befits such a beautiful venue.
I was AIR fan since the beginning in the 90s and now my daughter love AIR too. Endless Moon Safari 🚀💫
The last Berlin concert in july was fantastic. 🎹👍 Thank you Arte for the memories.
Yes. I was at Theatre des Westerns, on Mar 4th, too!
@@ffredhankyI was in July. Open Air in Spandau.☀️🚀
Same here. ❤ i am from Berlin

AIR will be live in PARIS on March 25th and 26th (SOLD OUT). They've added a 3rd date on March 27th !!
Thank you for uploading this! I’ve been trying to relive this concert ever since I left. What a show
Fabulous show. Tankful to get to watch it again on youtube, and share with others.
I was there and loved every single minute of this amazing concert. It was outer wordly. Merci Air!
One of the soundtrack staples of my life, you all sound amazing. Love the sparkle top Fender Rhodes, Thank you!
Moon Safari blows my mind since the first time I heard ✨
😍😍 Quel merveilleux spectacle !
Bravo, Chapeau bas ! Splendide.
Saw the set last night in Boston. Fantastic.
All i need is a masterpiece! always reminds me to my younger years!
Still listen to this album very often👍🏻
31:28 my favorite part, how trippy. love this music, it is part of my musical identitiy
Thanks for bringing back the power again 👊🏾
Also.... MAAAAD RESPECT to the stage & light designers 🙏🏾
It's the album... but not as we know it! Which is exactly what a live gig should be. Absolute class.
Zero 7, Portishead, Massive Attack a close second.... I'll throw in Summer Madness live long version as a hidden gem
Love it! I saw them live this year in Berlin and I was a pure pleasure! Thanks for bringing this memory back!
Air is part of my life since I listened "Surfing on a Rocket" in FIFA 2005 ❤
Not a Concert an experience. I have never listened to another artist, artist's work so much as theirs. Love♥Air. Long may they create such masterpieces. Many thanks ARTE CONCERT. Fantastic sound.
The audiovisual climax in Radian is simply masterful
Thank you.
Just saw them at the Anthem in Washington, DC. This is not an album, this is an experience and I am so grateful to have lived it.
wow
French Touch it was incredible so many Talents in France i m 53 years old it Was New et for ever Air in m'y Heart
I picked up a Moon Safari CD when I studied in Glasgow in 1999. Brings back fantastic memories for me at that time while in Glasgow...
This is the classiest live show I've ever seen. Kudos to the stage director!
What an unexpected surprise! Wonderful performance of one of my favourite electronic albums ever composed.
One of your favourite? What else do you like?
@@sebwimedo Zero 7's "Simple Things," Massive Attack's "Mezzanine," and Portishead's "Dummy" come to mind right away.
Well, Air live in Chicago was the best gig I’ve ever seen. go see them live wherever you can! Met JB and Nic before the show and they were lovely guys who didn’t mind signing my Moon Safari cd.
Was there, loved it ;-)
That stage is awesome. Very effective and at the same time, very clean.
I just saw them in Dallas. They blew me away.
Moon Safari has been deeply woven into the soundtrack of my life since it came out. That album helped get me through some pretty heavy shit. It was amazing seeing it live in this setting and arrangement.
Bravo! 🙏❤
What an amazing band!!!! They bring some kind of magic to my life when i listen to them
Your life is very empty.
@@decimojuan yours :)))
This album was magical.
Absolut!🙏👌🥳
It still is 🍻
Still sounds great. Timeless. Not many albums are like that but moon safari never dates
Can't stop listening to this concert. Absolutely amazing.
This version of surfing on a rocket is just insane 😭🥰
I think Beth Hirsh's voice and singing contributed significantly to the magic of this album. I think it's a shame that she's not there.
wonder why she was not included?
@@TractorBeamShe is simply not necessary imho
@@simonjager9259 Well, you just disqualified yourself to give an opinion that anyone could care about. All I need the way Air performed it on this tour was complete trash. Before I always wondered, why did they never play it live, now I know why. They arent able or willing to play it the way it was on the record (which was the absolute perfect version).
What makes you all assume Beth Hirsh was interested in being part of this performance in the first place?
@@maxmeier532 One can not disqualify oneself giving an opinion while an opinion is an existenceable human right, you foolish bavaruan Maximilian Schlau Mayer
The bass tone is just 🎉
Agreed
Nicolas Godin est le greatest
Saw the concert in Vancouver and was mesmerized! Truly inspiring.
Another masterpiece of humanity!
I had uncontrollable tears coming tonight watching this beautiful concert that made me close my eyes and travel in time. Saved on my favourite list ❤
AIR got to be the slowed down version of daft punk, the other parts of French culture. What a magical thing ….. 💎
I just saw them perform live in Vancouver, it was great. Now I can watch is again here.
as someone whose birthday was september 14th this was definitely a gift. favorite live concert of all time!
