Also, as soon as Gaius returned home, he blew out the candles on the roman Gods shrines. Killing the false idols.
Such a good episode.
And that’s something I forgot to mention in my review. That is such a great detail.
Probably going down as my favorite episode thus far in the whole history of the show. From the many emotions I felt throughout the episode, seeing Gaius elevated when he could've been killed for what he did last episode, the many flashbacks the characters were having, literally everything about Gaius this episode- him slowly coming to terms that he believed in Jesus and just how he embraced this fact. I loved seeing him teach the word "Shalom" to his family, that was so heartwarming. Then the Thunder bros with their request, which I learned about recently, as there are two instances where people ask Jesus to "do for them what they ask," and this request is the one that He was upset with, while the other request was praised due to their faith (can't' remember the exact story, I'm sure it's not exactly like this one but it's a bout a healing,) I learned about both of them in HS Sunday School not too long ago.
And then all the foreshadowing for future episodes/seasons cleverly played in, to the ending scene being one of the most beautiful scenes in the whole show. Jesus comforted so many people and it was very great to see Gaius comforting a weary/distraught Jesus.
I love the story about the Faith of the Centurion because just how amazing this Gentile's faith was that Jesus praised it as being so amazing He hadn't seen this kind of faith throughout Israel, which really shows just how amazing his faith truly was. And as a Roman who many thought the Messiah would deliver them from. I'm feeling kinda inspired to write a song/lyrics/composition regarding this story (I recently composed a piece about Matthew 14 when Peter and Jesus walked on water).
Thanks for the comment. I absolutely love the ending scene. It might be my favorite ending scene of the whole show so far. It was very well shot and it captured the emotions of both characters very well.
It is on my list for one of the best episodes. Love the whole Gaius part. Don't worry, there will be more grieving.
Thanks for the comment. I think they did a great job with the character arc for Gaius. It was very well written. I saw the season when it was in theaters so this was a rewatch for me, but I enjoyed this story just as much the second time.
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes. Your insights are spot on!
Thank you as always for your feedback. I thought the ending was amazing.
I feel the part where Thomas hugs Jesus was a beautiful moment, showing us even though he is wrestling right now with what has happened, he decided to approach Jesus for comfort, like that was really emotional for me that he still has that deep love for Jesus and went to Him for comfort despite what he is going through and not understanding why Jesus didn't heal her, I'm still wrestling with that fact deeply but goes to show Thomas is still following Jesus despite his grief, and when Jesus says we will face him together, it was sad to see Ramah's dad in pain and can't imagine how difficult it is for him but what happened wasn't Jesus' or Thomas' fault but Quintis' rage and the crowds frustration, it all linked to Jesus' sermon about sin and it was this which caused the death of Ramah, I also loved how Jesus said this is the way of the earth for now, pointing to the coming Kingdom where all will be restored, there is hope and Ramah will be in the new Kingdom at the end of time, so there is light and Jesus will overcome the darkness, all ends well x
His line about this is the way of the Earth for now was a nice touch.
Great analysis Bob. Spot on. Wonderful series!
Thanks for the feedback. It’s a great show.
Excellent review, I agree with all the things that you pointed out as well as some of the things that other folks have said of how it might’ve been done all of those were good. I encourage everyone to listen to the whole thing. Go see the episode if you haven’t seen itbecause it is worth watching great review thank you.
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the episode.
I appreciate your coverage.
Thank you very much.
To me, the scene with the olive press was so great because you could see so clearly that Jesus was distressed by having to die soon, but then here comes this man who's had his whole life changed by Him and hugs Him just so grateful and happy, and I thought, "And there's why He did it."
It was an absolutely beautiful scene. Very well filmed, well written, and well acted.
I loved seeing Jesus watching the oil press and seeing Him process emotionally what was coming as He and His children get crushed and poured out.
It was a very well filmed scene. And Jonathan’s performance in that scene is phenomenal.
Yet it was the LORD's will to crush Him. Isaiah 53:10 This is the verse that came to my mind whilst watching this scene. It also made me think of Jesus' plea to His disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane ("oil press") to keep watch and pray. His soul was being crushed with sorrow.
It reminded me of that as well. Especially when we saw the close ups of him sweating.
Looking forward...such great review.
Thank you very much.
Because of what they are doing with the people that aren’t in scripture, I’m really curious what happens to Tamar.
I’m curious as well. I’m guessing she’ll make it through to the end of the show, but they have no limitations what they can do with her character, so who knows.
Absolutely loved it
It really was a good episode. Fantastic ending.
Yes! I loved this episode, it was really emotional especially seeing how much pain Thomas was in but to see the comfort and love from his brothers being there for him, Peter and John and I really loved the scene when each of the followers of Jesus were wrestling with what happened with Ramah and really discussing this, especially James, John and Peter as this is how a lot of us felt deeply but I loved these scenes. And seeing Gaius humble himself before Jesus, having faith in Jesus and the scene where he is in the market so happy, buying and giving the money to the people, he's truly a new man! And I didn't notice this but when he entered his house he blew out the candles of the other gods he worshiped because he truly believes Jesus is God, that's amazing and it's impacting his wife who says Shalom too. And of course the end scene was truly beautiful, showing us that Jesus needed comfort for what He is about to face, and it was Gaius who gave this to him, this was well needed! x
Thanks for the comment. I forgot to mention that he blew out the candles. That was a nice detail in that scene.

Also my Dad caught this contrast but the beginning of the episode we seen Thomas walking up and down in distress and pain, and at the end of the episode Jesus walks up and down in distress and prayer to His Father for what He is about to face, so it shows the similarities and where Thomas went up to Jesus for comfort, Guis comes to comfort Jesus beautiful! ❤️
@@sophiewheatley2654 that’s a good observation. The two scenes parallel each other in several ways.
Comment for the algorithm 👍
Thanks brother 🤣.
I am probably in the minority, but I actually like the next episode better. I disagree with having it conclude in season 3 there were already so many things going on.
Thanks for the comment. I agree that there were way too many things going on in season three. I think it was perfect where it was at. It’s just a complaint that I’ve seen some people make so I figured I would mention it. I personally didn’t have any issues with the episode. I’m looking forward to rewatching the next episode as well. Especially because I think Luke Dimyan shines as Judas in the upcoming episodes.
