It's impressive how this game has been out for 7-ish years, and finally someone has a concise, well edited video explaining the nity-grity of MK8DX builds. Props to you man, fantastic work. You deserve a warm glass of milk and a cookie.
The Wii U version plays very differently to Deluxe. There basically is an optimal build for Wii U, since 33 of the 48 WRs use the same statically equivalent builds on 33 of the 48 tracks, and this build works fine on nearly every track in normal races. It's why you always saw Morton, Streetle / Blue Falcon, and Slicks in that game, and it's also probably why there isn't any video on the matter for the Wii U version because there basically is an objectively best build that'll work in almost all circumstances in a regular race (and still work for the majority of tracks at a WR level). So if we're excluding the Wii U version, then it was really about 4 years instead of 7 or so years for this type of content to be released (when it did release). Deluxe had an entire overhaul on the stats and altered some of the mechanics, which is why there is a larger amount of combo variety in this game. As for why there hasn't been a video yet (before this one) on the Deluxe side of things, part of that may have to do with the fact that there really aren't that many big 8DX channels from players in the actual scene, but I can't say for certain why no one has chosen to go so in-depth
Honestly I just want to know the best build for acing time trials. I'm thinking traction and ground speed, since acceleration and mini boost stats don't seem to matter as much, but being able to stay on the track and still move fast would be important
Smaller characters generally have lower top speed and higher acceleration though, and when you're running a time trial acceleration is going to stop mattering fairly early.
I play competitive Mario kart for my state and I just wanna say this video has helped me greatly find the best character for a standard kart/super glider/standard setup. Really appreciate it, keep up the great work. I would love to catch one of your streams sometimes. :)
I'm so glad I found this channel. Nobody else talks about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe seriously. It makes it much harder to research this game compared to others.
For me, handling is the most important stat. Using a kart that can turn well is just so fun to race with. Especially on 200cc which makes up for it normally being really slow.
I don't even remember the last time I've played Mario Kart 8 but this came up on my recommended and sounded interesting, so here I am. It was very interesting, and I kind of want to play some Mario Kart now!
I like that this makes sense, scientifically, and in the gaming world, where you have to give players ups and downs, but still keep it fair. Well done!
Great video. Another way to look at it is combined stats. Say for example you want a build that has the highest possible combined Ground Speed and Mini Turbo, and out of those the one that has the highest combined total stats. So we are focusing on increasing the 2 most important stats to their combined maximum, while sacrificing as little as possible of the other stats. Let's look at builds with the maximum 7.75 bars combined Speed and MT, and at least 45 total bars across all 12 stats (maximum is 46). That leaves us with only 12 builds, all of which are Waluigi/Wario, Biddybuggy/Streetle/Wiggler and Rollers, with different Gliders. The top 2 builds out of these are Waluigi/Wario with Wiggler, Rollers and Paper Glider at 3.5+4.25 (Waluigi) / 3.75+4 (Wario) Speed+MT and 45.25 bars total combined stats, with the other 10 builds being at 45. In case you value MT higher than speed, Waluigi with Biddybuggy, Rollers and Paper Glider is the build with the highest MT stat that fits these requirements at 3 Speed, 4.75 MT and 45 total. To me at least this seems to explain the most popular builds perfectly. Also, by this logic, the worst possible combination would be Lemmy, Badwagon and Slicks with any Glider except Paper. 5.5 combined Speed+MT and 33.75 total stats.
I genuinely enjoyed this content so I’m just leaving a comment to help your metrics. This was a really interesting and cool way of breaking things down, and the results (what builds are popular and used in world record runs) proved your hypothesis (that the best builds would float to the top).
As someone who had played Mario Kart Double Dash for about 15-17 years, there are things I’ve noticed when playing. Regarding stats, the most important stat is acceleration while weight is the least important. Because you’re likely to be getting hit at some point during the race and skilled racers will time their tosses with enough gap for you to stagger and move just a little bit before hitting you again. The specials that appear the most are Mario/Luigi, Bowser/jr, DK/Diddy, Wario/Waluigi, followed by Yoshi/Birdo and Koopa/Paratroopa. These are the Specials that appear the most frequently while in the lead. The best of this list are Offensive, Defensive or both. Regarding straight up offense, Wario/Waluigi bomb and Yoshi/Birdo egg are really good. The egg even has utility as it spawns 3 items that can be shells, bomb, star, shroom, or bananas. Meanwhile the bomb is used as a terrify/fling tool or as a trap to someone not to far behind you. Pure defense goes to the Giant Banana. Huge hit box, regular shells and certain specials won’t even dent it, if it does break it turns into 3 smaller ones. If you want to be truly tactical cruel, put these, regular bananas, and fake item boxes at the peak of ramps or on guardrail-less bridges. For the best for both, Koopa she’ll of Doom and the triple red/greens (the color IS NOT determined by the Koopa) spaced out triple reds are going to be your greatest catch up tool beside speed enhancers. So for a great build, you want 2 small characters, low weight, better speed, fantastic acceleration, and characters with these specials. My recommendation is Bow jr with one of the Koopas.
Very interesting and informative video. My personal favourite build is Lemmy - Bone Rattler - azure roller - gold glider, not an optimal build but a fun one to use.
Thank you so much for this information. I was always curious about this. I like that at least up to 150cc you can win with basically anything. I use Morton with the Streetle and Azure Rollers because I think it looks goofy.
Thanks a lot for your hard work! Turns out that the setup I am mostly using is almost pareto optimal, but now I did some tweaks with the help of your tool and now run a 10/15 (mini turbo/speed) pareto build.
Holy crap, you explained Pareto Efficiency very well!! I have issues with understanding concepts and ideas due to Asperger's (low autism), but the way where you made it visual and explained it slowly and carefully, you've made understanding much easier!! One sub from me! Keep up the amazing content!
Another aspect that is important to consider imo is how tight your build can take turns. Some karts and wheels offer different kinds of drifting capabilities. Taking a difficult turn very tightly can make a huge difference
Great video! This puts ideas that I'd understood mainly through intuition gained from years of playing the game into solid logic. I'll definitely share this with anyone who has questions about combos in the future. P.S. The video also made me appreciate R a lot more; I really didn't like the stat class that made me learn it, but seeing it used for something I'm so passionate about was really cool. Great job on that inspiration too x)
O_O thanks man appreciate that! It’s funny you mention your stats class being kind of unmotivating for learning R cause I had the same experience My first stats professor didn’t really explain how to use it very well and so basically everybody in the class was totally lost with it. Then I found some random side project that I wanted to work on and forced myself to learn R to work on that project Now a not insubstantial portion of my R use is spent answering video game related questions like in your stream today xD
you could theoretically go even deeper by running simulations of the optimal builds on each track assuming the shortest possible path around the track, but that would be more effort than its worth
As a total beginner to gaming, and having chosen Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for my starter.... I am so glad I found Bayesic's channel for tutorials. Really great explanations in his videos. Science ---> great minds think alike. This chap is worthy of double / treble the amount of subscribers !
Skill trumps stats every time. Back on wiiu top speed was more important. On switch it’s not as important as miniturbo, which acceleration and handling affect mini turbo, so you should put some focus on those. But having a kart combo the specs in acceleration and handling, and balance it off with a a heavier character like waluigi where he has some speed, it’s no wonder why it’s a popular kart combo. Btw I’m currently developing a website myself for recommending kart combos based on track popularity and top 5 kart combos for those selected tracks with stats averaged out. More on this later. This is a very good app btw.
i love learning about this but my mario kart build is determined almost entirely by style. i'm still gonna use p-wing blue standards with luigi. it looks too good for me to switch off
First off: I'm aware that at 7:04 there's a typo and the acceleration should be 1.75 Since people are asking about it, here's a link to the web-based app I put together for this video (it's totally free, no ads no nothing, I get absolutely NO benefit from you guys using this other than the satisfaction of knowing it's being used). ******************************************** ** Please read the rest of this comment ** ******************************************** bayesicmk8dx.shinyapps.io/mk8_build_optimizer/ So here's the thing though. I currently have the free version of the shinyapps account, and this limits the usage on the app. Once it's seen 25 hours of usage in a single month it'll basically just stop working until the next month, so just keep that in mind when you're using it. I'm probably just going to put all of the data / code on a git repo somewhere for you to all download it yourselves eventually, but wanna figure out how to do that in a secure way first
I ended up just adding together and plotting my build myself, then pausing the video and checking the chart. Thanks for the work you put into the app and video!
@@Pslamist as far as I can tell it should still work. Have you tried it yet? The problem with the GitHub solution is that as far as I can tell there’s not a way to actually like host the app there. All I can do is just put the code and then you’d have to install everything yourself
Great video! The hidden stats in this game are so frustrating to me. Mini turbo, arguably the most important stat, is completely hidden, and traction referring to off-road traction makes absolutely no sense, since some of the slipperiest builds in the game happen to have decent off-road traction.
This is the most well made video i've seen on this topic. Definitely going to share this with people when they ask why I use the tryhard build haha. Very informative, thank you!
After years of wanting to jump into Mario Kart 8, I've finally got ahold of a Switch and first thing I did was getting into online races. Thank you very much for sharing your detailed research and the builder! All the best wishes to you!
I always use biddybuggy, roller, and cloud glider build because my play style revolves around drifting, I never really liked using “the meta” because it just feels like I’m doing what everyone else is doing and it isn’t fun seeing literally everyone have the exact same build in one race. I personally think it’s much more interesting seeing people with their own play styles and builds so that you get to know who exactly you’re competing against. It just makes the game seem more fun
I guess we could then do a pareto with a summation of speed/mini turbo vs. a summation of speed/handling to further narrow the selection. I bet the wifi sweat builds would end up supreme
This is super interesting. I bet there's a few way you could go even further if you wanted: 1) Have specific Pareto charts for different courses. By considering the percent of time spent drifting during a course, you could weigh the mini-turbo stat more or less compared to the max speed stat when determining Pareto efficiency. The same can go for percent of time spent in anti-grav, underwater, etc. In determining the possible weight of those terrain speed stats too. 2) I'm curious if you could increase the accuracy of your algorithm by, instead of ignoring the other stats completely, you could weigh them much lower than the speed/mini-turbo stats but still factor them into the equation. If multiple builds lie on the Pareto frontier, then you may as well consider the other stats as tiebreakers. 3) I'd be really interested in knowing each characters' # of degrees of separation from a Pareto frontier build. E.g. If a character can achieve 100% Pareto efficiency, it'd have 0 degrees of separation, but if the best they could get is 1 dot away from the frontier, they'd be 1 degree of separation away, and so on. That way you could use your data to create a sort of theoretically-objective tier list.
Pretty fun ideas. #1 would be super cool but pretty much impossible since optimal baby strategies spend a lot more time drifting than waluigi strategies For #2 Pareto frontier stuff generalizes pretty easily to higher dimensions. I just stick with 2 since it’s easier to visualize #3 you can kinda do with the app but it’s a bit janky haha Thanks for the ideas though :-)
I was really late to the party for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because I'd already played quite a bit of Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U. I wasn't aware that they'd changed the mini turbo stat, but that certainly explains why people started using roller wheels instead of the slick wheels they used on the Wii U.
I’m actually upset that waluigi is top tier in Mk8. I played him all the time in MKwii and no one batted an eye save for those who let me know that funky was top. But now when I play waluigi in Mk8 everyone thinks I’m being a try hard. I no longer give half a damn , and I just play whatever is fun. I like waluigi on the pipe cart with slicks.
This is the best video I've seen breaking down how all of these builds work. Also I love that you used R to go through all this data. Never something I would've thought to use R for.
I use Waluigi because he's my favorite character, I don't usually use Wiggler(except on Bowser City) I prefer my bikes much more. So no thanks, I'm not going to stop using Waluigi. 😁
Playing regional online in North America is a nightmare. Everyone and their mother uses the Waluigi build. Ironically I find worldwides more fun and interesting XD
I'm only just finding this video, but I like the way that you helped visualize all of this data to determine how good some of these combos are. As a purist that only uses Yoshi/Standard Tires/Standard Glider/Pipe Frame, I appreciate the work you put into this, even if it's to answer a question about a particularly curious occurrence.
Always nice to see in-depth videos on this game and you do a great job explaining things. I'd love to get my hands on that application to see how my personal build stacks up for the fun of it
i used to dominate mk8 dx online in 2018, i haven't played it online in so long! i only play with friends very rarely, using low speed cars/characters, launching slowly and using absolutely no items lmao and at 100cc because most of them can't even handle 150cc i still have a great time though, playing handicapped like that makes me really focus on my driving
After watching this, I came to the conclusion that at the end of the day it is up to you what build you pick. I for instance use Toadette/Biddybuggy/Azure Roller/Crossing Glider because I focus more on recovering after taking a hit and doing those sweet purple mini turbos. I tried different builds as well and noticed, as you said in the video, that each build is different depending on the track. So I pick what I can play the best with overall. Skill is what's really important and what makes or breaks a race. Luck is part of the game so even the best ones may go into the Bottom 6 multiple times in a row.
This is fantastic, thank you. It's really frustrating how the game doesn't actually allow you to see these numbers in a simple way i.e. not showing stats on rider screen and using a bizarre (x+3)/4 scaling
I usually have good runs with Inkling Girl/Pipe frame/Leaf Tires/Standard Glider; I used that MK8DX builder and discovered my old builds from my WiiU days were sub-optimal, especially under water, which is what caused a lot of headaches on Dolphin Shoals. My old kart build pretty much sacrificed everything for ground/anti-grav speed and weight. Even though the new combo was slower overall the acceleration and mini turbo are way better, and the underwater handling and underwater speeds are more evenly balanced with the other handlings/speeds. I may switch to the Plane Glider because it will bring my anti-grav speed up a bit, bring water speed down to match air speed, even out water and anti-grav handling, and trade a modicum of grip for increased weight; all without sacrificing any more boost or acceleration (and leaving my ground and air speeds still). Inkling/Pipe Frame/Leaf Tires/Standard or Plane Glider's lowest speed stat is ground,--which it just occurred to me--is the reason why my friends seem to keep better pace with me on the more ground-centric courses. And why one who uses a better ground speed/acceleration/boost combo annihilates me on Excite Bike
My personal favorite build so far, that is Rosalina on Jet Bike and Slim wheels, is okay in terms of ground speed and mini-turbo, but sorting for acceleration and mini-turbo it sorts to the weakest on the graph for its mini turbo stat. This explains why the bike does well enough in practice against CPUs or the clock, but suffers online.
Fellow Data Scientist here, this video is amazing I love it! Found it while I'm coming back due to the DLC, pumped to be playing something new again. Quick Q: Do you know what other kart the master cycle zero is equivalent to?
Just checked the Baby Luigi + Koopa Clown combo The Traction on that thing is monstrous (5.25) , it's not to be laughed at. Combined with an alright MT stat of 3.25 + the fact that the player is a tourney level player... You're definitely going to be outclassed
Yeah it’s definitely not the worst build in the game just that there are a ton of builds that are much much better, point being that getting good at the game is way more important than your build
For me, I just go pure acceleration. Dry Bones+Azure+Cloud, so much acceleration, but on some 200cc course, it's too much and you end up flying off the track from speeding up so much
@@JoseRuiz-li9bm not that simple, bud. That's why I'm complaining. The acceleration is so high that even if you do that, you will still fall off or come to a complete stop, rarely ever an in-between
@@JoseRuiz-li9bm ok, try a few courses like Neo Bowser and Rainbow Road with my setup. The acceleration is too damn high, so you gain speed so fast you end up flying off. It's not an optimal cart, I'll be honest, but I still enjoy using it, of course
Alright so I've been playing Mario Kart 8 deluxe offline for a while now and I had no idea about the online community or optimal strategies for competing online. However, by trial and error, I managed to make the main build I use surprisingly similar stat-wise (though slightly less efficient) to the Waluigi/Wiggler combo. I did consider switching to the Wiggler but in all honesty I thought it looked kind of stupid, and I didn't want to be staring at it every race. I will admit though, the only reason I chose to use Waluigi in the first place is because I think he's funny and I really like him, so I feel validated knowing I'm using a fairly solid build and character.
Great statistical video, very easy to follow! I use Heavy Mii, Circuit Special, Slick Wheels, and Plane Glider just because I like max speed for the fun of it. I was completely UNAWARE that this was a pareto optimal build until watching this video. I found out my build isn’t just optimal in speed and mini-turbo, but also in acceleration and traction, giving it the highest overall statistical value in the entire game! I’m mostly a Mariokart Wii fan and mostly play 8 Deluxe just for fun, but I had no idea I hit gold with my max speed build. I actually thought it was UNOPTIMIZED because the acceleration and traction is so low, but that’s the highest it’s going to get with my max speed, so it works out! Looking forward to the DLC courses, especially from Wii! 🏁
Dude, I loved every bit of this video! I am quite the analytical thinker myself and I absolutely enjoyed your 'labbing' and the way ou broke it down. I would have done it in a similar way probably, but not as thoroughly. I played MK8 on the Wii U and just got MK8D, I never knew Mini Turbos are bound to acceleration. O.O
I like how you paused when asking if it was a pareto optimal configuration. I felt like I was watching a much better version of dora. "is this a pareto optimal configuration" No? Fantastico!
That super long pause is cause I actually had something else in the script there, I forget what it was, but it was just really bad so I had to remove it. The video editing was already done so my only option was to leave the question and then just have y’all stare at the screen for an uncomfortable amount of time lol
I'm not necessarily going to disparage people for using optimized builds, but I do find it funny how often times in games the "optimal" loadout is also some of the funniest looking. Like I don't think anyone would describe Wild Wiggler or Biddybuggy as "cool" looking vehicles, but they're some of the most used in optimal builds. It's like broadcasting without fail "I am just using this because of the stats, not because I like how it looks", lmao
Very informative! Very entertaining! Normalize enjoying video games- if that means playing the meta to focus on pure technical skill: AWESOME. If that means playing your favourite character because you enjoy freedom of expression/the way they handle despite their shortcomings: AWESOME.
He was talking I had an almost audible thought “can he just tell me what to use” and immediately he said “I’m not here to just tell you what to use” and I think he can hear me
with the one on the thumbnail i can already kinda tell, waluigi is funny meme character and a heavy class character which in a racing game are usually good top speed and low acceleration, but siince mario kart has a way to change top speed and acceleration the lighter bodies and small tires tend to be the most likely to be used to balance waluigi's weight

As for why there hasn't been a video yet (before this one) on the Deluxe side of things, part of that may have to do with the fact that there really aren't that many big 8DX channels from players in the actual scene, but I can't say for certain why no one has chosen to go so in-depth
Small characters are perfect for time trials because you don’t have to worry about heavier characters knocking you off the track.
Honestly I just want to know the best build for acing time trials. I'm thinking traction and ground speed, since acceleration and mini boost stats don't seem to matter as much, but being able to stay on the track and still move fast would be important
@@petermarsella6537 just check WR on said time trial. Whatever they're going is probably the vest build.
@@pinguselen6771
Waluigi on a Wild Wiggler has claimed a portion of world records...
Smaller characters generally have lower top speed and higher acceleration though, and when you're running a time trial acceleration is going to stop mattering fairly early.
What are you talking about? Mario Kart DS was the only mario kart in which weight really played a role.
I play competitive Mario kart for my state and I just wanna say this video has helped me greatly find the best character for a standard kart/super glider/standard setup. Really appreciate it, keep up the great work. I would love to catch one of your streams sometimes. :)
Competitive Mario Kart for your state? What are you even on about lmao That doesn't exist
@@theNimboo It's called the fuse cup its in Australia
I'm so glad I found this channel. Nobody else talks about Mario Kart 8 Deluxe seriously. It makes it much harder to research this game compared to others.
Even if it's slightly less optimal, I'm gonna always use the 4 Gold build cuz, like, cmon dude, it looks sick

Well done!
I swear to god this is the MOST UNDERRATED channel in the whole of RUclips
"Why does everyone use Walugi"
I...I thought it was just a meme where the whole lobby tries to use one character lolol
And Waluigi is an enormous meme that had reached “god status” amongst the memes.
At first, most Waluigi players were from Japan, so I just assumed the meme reached Japan somehow. Turns out it's just because they're tryhards
Me using Waluigi because he’s my favourite character 😐
As someone who's taking a Project Management course this semester in college, i never thought i'd hear Pareto brought up in a Mario Kart video.
Interesting I hadn’t thought about in that way before but makes a lot of sense. And here I thought my baby Luigi build was the worst!
I don't think you can add MT and Speed like that. What are the units of this combined stat?

Nice lol. And yeah I mean if you’re good at the game you can beat like 99% of people with literally anything
Thank you!
Another aspect that is important to consider imo is how tight your build can take turns. Some karts and wheels offer different kinds of drifting capabilities. Taking a difficult turn very tightly can make a huge difference
U need more subs IMO ur the only person making this kind of content for mk8d
Thanks, my friend getting into the game and I couldn’t find a better way to explain it all. Video helped
It’s funny you mention your stats class being kind of unmotivating for learning R cause I had the same experience
My first stats professor didn’t really explain how to use it very well and so basically everybody in the class was totally lost with it. Then I found some random side project that I wanted to work on and forced myself to learn R to work on that project
Now a not insubstantial portion of my R use is spent answering video game related questions like in your stream today xD
you could theoretically go even deeper by running simulations of the optimal builds on each track assuming the shortest possible path around the track, but that would be more effort than its worth
Yeah haha. I just let the time trailers figure it out xD
I learned more about math from this video instead of my own stats class.
I have mario kart brain
As a total beginner to gaming, and having chosen Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for my starter.... I am so glad I found Bayesic's channel for tutorials.
Really great explanations in his videos. Science ---> great minds think alike.

kart combos matter but so does skills. just having the best combo alone wont garauntee you a win.
The best build is clearly the one that looks the coolest to any given player
This was really well done! deserves more views
Great video! It helped me see the metas in a whole different way
Skill trumps stats every time.

Man, thank you for taking the time creating this content. Genuinely happy you exist, buddy.
i love learning about this but my mario kart build is determined almost entirely by style. i'm still gonna use p-wing blue standards with luigi. it looks too good for me to switch off
Gotta agree. The P-wing may not be the best statistically, but it's great aesthetically.
First off: I'm aware that at 7:04 there's a typo and the acceleration should be 1.75

So here's the thing though.
Awesome I’ll definitely look into that!

Thank you so much! I put a lot of work into this video
Great video! The hidden stats in this game are so frustrating to me. Mini turbo, arguably the most important stat, is completely hidden, and traction referring to off-road traction makes absolutely no sense, since some of the slipperiest builds in the game happen to have decent off-road traction.
i just took a course in game theory in which we learned about pareto optimality. so cool to see this concept applied to maria kart so elegantly!
Sure he isn‘t in that game. But Funky Kong will always be the best :)
Literally listed as a meta build at the end >_>.
I guess we could then do a pareto with a summation of speed/mini turbo vs. a summation of speed/handling to further narrow the selection. I bet the wifi sweat builds would end up supreme
This is super interesting. I bet there's a few way you could go even further if you wanted:
1) Have specific Pareto charts for different courses.
#1 would be super cool but pretty much impossible since optimal baby strategies spend a lot more time drifting than waluigi strategies
For #2 Pareto frontier stuff generalizes pretty easily to higher dimensions. I just stick with 2 since it’s easier to visualize
#3 you can kinda do with the app but it’s a bit janky haha
Thanks for the ideas though :-)
So much less drip than Funky Kong with the Flame Runner
Scooty is the best kart IMO, mostly because of the tiny hitbox.
Seeing thr legion of WaLuigi’s at 0:36 absolutely SLAYED me
A long winded way to basically tell people to stop using Waluigi 😊
I use Waluigi because he's my favorite character, I don't usually use Wiggler(except on Bowser City) I prefer my bikes much more. So no thanks, I'm not going to stop using Waluigi. 😁
Been trying to get into mariokart as a player who isn’t good and I’m really enjoying your content, just doing this to add support ♥️
Very much appreciated!
The math on the gold kart does not add up for acceleration. Your calculation says 2.75 but the bar on the right says 1.75. 🤔
he mistyped it. 7/4 (which is what the actual equation is) is 1.75. he just put a 2 on accident

@@Bayesic when you're the only one that owns the game, that's bound to happen
After watching this, I came to the conclusion that at the end of the day it is up to you what build you pick.
I for instance use Toadette/Biddybuggy/Azure Roller/Crossing Glider because I focus more on recovering after taking a hit and doing those sweet purple mini turbos.
I tried different builds as well and noticed, as you said in the video, that each build is different depending on the track. So I pick what I can play the best with overall.
Skill is what's really important and what makes or breaks a race. Luck is part of the game so even the best ones may go into the Bottom 6 multiple times in a row.
Your conclusion is correct haha. Even at the very top levels of game play it's possible to success with "non-meta" builds
Luck is 75% of the game.
This is fantastic, thank you. It's really frustrating how the game doesn't actually allow you to see these numbers in a simple way i.e. not showing stats on rider screen and using a bizarre (x+3)/4 scaling
Yeah I have no idea why they seem to want the players of the game to be less informed about how it works
Hey Bayesic, this video is so well don't nice job! I'd love how you layered your video.

What a time to be alive
Just checked the Baby Luigi + Koopa Clown combo
The Traction on that thing is monstrous (5.25) , it's not to be laughed at.
Combined with an alright MT stat of 3.25 + the fact that the player is a tourney level player...
You're definitely going to be outclassed
Yeah it’s definitely not the worst build in the game just that there are a ton of builds that are much much better, point being that getting good at the game is way more important than your build
Amazing video!! I never really understood how people chose the best karts for each track and you explained everything incredibly well! Bravo!
For me, I just go pure acceleration. Dry Bones+Azure+Cloud, so much acceleration, but on some 200cc course, it's too much and you end up flying off the track from speeding up so much
Just hold the brake button as you drift around corners
@@JoseRuiz-li9bm not that simple, bud. That's why I'm complaining. The acceleration is so high that even if you do that, you will still fall off or come to a complete stop, rarely ever an in-between
@@DoxSteele huh, I mean I can do it with any cart and character setup and I feel like that's all I do
@@JoseRuiz-li9bm ok, try a few courses like Neo Bowser and Rainbow Road with my setup. The acceleration is too damn high, so you gain speed so fast you end up flying off. It's not an optimal cart, I'll be honest, but I still enjoy using it, of course
Neo Bowser on 200cc was always fun. I'll try it right now with your build
I seriously thought applying data science to analyze this stuff is genius. Kudos
I like how you paused when asking if it was a pareto optimal configuration. I felt like I was watching a much better version of dora.
"is this a pareto optimal configuration"
No?
Fantastico!
That super long pause is cause I actually had something else in the script there, I forget what it was, but it was just really bad so I had to remove it. The video editing was already done so my only option was to leave the question and then just have y’all stare at the screen for an uncomfortable amount of time lol
Thank you I think this video at least slightly changed my views on how to enjoy and play this game better in my own way
I'm not necessarily going to disparage people for using optimized builds, but I do find it funny how often times in games the "optimal" loadout is also some of the funniest looking. Like I don't think anyone would describe Wild Wiggler or Biddybuggy as "cool" looking vehicles, but they're some of the most used in optimal builds. It's like broadcasting without fail "I am just using this because of the stats, not because I like how it looks", lmao
Yeah, I mean if it were up to me I would be using bad wagon all day but it’s one of the worst karts in the game lol

Your MK videos are easily the best my dude. Thanks for the hard work.
with the one on the thumbnail i can already kinda tell, waluigi is funny meme character and a heavy class character which in a racing game are usually good top speed and low acceleration, but siince mario kart has a way to change top speed and acceleration the lighter bodies and small tires tend to be the most likely to be used to balance waluigi's weight
