I had a hearing aid that keeps braking and when my ears were bad sometimes I used the live listen feature on my airpods Pro so god forbid that happens again. I feel like they were trying to come up with random excuses to justify making Apple Intelligence the main selling point even though it's irrelevant to 80-90% of iPhone users. I get what you're saying-the dog photo idea does seem pretty out there. While some of the keynote’s scenarios might feel a bit off, I think the overall vision is still interesting. Apple’s trying to push boundaries, and even if not every idea lands, it's cool to see what they're imagining for the future.

To be fair it does have a slightly bigger screen, faster charging, better battery life, and titanium whereas prior phones were stainless steel. Ironically might be the biggest upgrade in the last 4-5 years. Also I could care less the phone is going to be completely free for me.

I get a new one each year. I can tell a big difference in battery life and speed year to year. I use my phone a lot and people who use it more need to upgrade sooner.

I won't be getting another iPhone till they make more minis. I love the size and shape of my mini. The iPhone 4s was the perfect form factor for a hand.
Minis were sold at an extremely low rate as people who are either larger or have bad eyesight would rather go with a larger model, and those without either generally went with the main model size. They fill the small gap by still offering the iPhone SE series, which gives you a smaller phone with the same components as a bit older model, and most people will deal with the home button to still have that phone size as the mini.
I gave my old 12Pro max to my son, I bought the 15 Pro max last year. It’s a huge leap to the 15, even bigger to the 16. You def will see a huge improvement were you to upgrade

I agree. It feels like every year they rush to compile something of “innovation” together. Waiting every 2 years would give so much more time to create phones with elements that aren’t regurgitated year after year. I have always been one to upgrade my iPhone every 3-4 years, but I have an iPhone 13 Pro that is going strong. My entire family except myself has already upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro models which I think is ridiculous seeing as my 13 pro is still fast and in such good shape overall. As tempting as some of these changes are from a photography perspective, I still will wait till next year for the iPhone 17 or maybe even the iPhone 18.

The apple event felt like I was watching that one group of students in the class that just slacked off the entire semester and then for presentation day they just stretch out their non-existing content as long as possible to meet the minimum presentation time requirement
People will find any reason to complain. When they make the new phones too different they’re “forcing people to upgrade” and when they don’t change enough they’re “not giving people any reason to upgrade”. I’m just happy they’re making solid, iterative changes that improve tangible things slightly year after year, so for people like me who only upgrade every 3-4 years, I feel like I’m getting a way better phone than the one I’m coming from, but i also don’t feel pressured to upgrade every single year.

No, they aren't the first to make a 5X optical zoom in a mid-size phone, but they found the most space efficient way to do it. No, they aren't the first to make a hole-punch for the camera, but instead of pretending it isn't there, they made it a software feature to try to smooth the user experience. They certainly weren't the first to do wireless charging, but they saw the flaw in it and fixed alignment issues with magnets, then a couple years later those magnets became the new Qi standard. They do market research, figure out what the average consumer cares about, and make theirs the best version of that thing. I don't care about cutting edge technology if it barely works or isn't relevant to me. I'd rather let android users beta test these new things to find out all the problems with them before Apple implements a better version.

All the disappointing stuffs they shown us: Apple Watch 10 has no radical redesigns and only made it thinner and increased by 1mm AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, why buy that when you could just get the AirPods Pro 2? iPhone 16 still has 60hz frame rate, in 2024 No rumored Sony IMX903 sensor on the 16 Pro Max, plus height difference is miniscule All iPhones does not have fast wired charging but instead bumped up the charging speeds for Magsafe
Also we waited 4 years for new Airpods Max and all we got was USB C (lets be real, the EU forced Apple with that) and new but samey looking colors. No H2 chip, no water resistance or weight reduction, no Hifi wired audio, nothing. Apple has become so complacent in the past 5-6 years.
Was thinking about getting a new iPhone. Don’t expect much in the way of new features anymore and yet I found it all underwhelming. Feel like they didn’t really add much at all to the regular model apart from a new camera feature to support a device practically nobody has. As for the Pro model, what they did add is pointless to 99.99% of customers and the colours are pretty boring. Also, I feel like they regret ditching leather cases massively but also don’t want to backtrack…so they just give us nothing instead. Great 👍
On the other hand samsung remains a head of iphone with pushing new tech and making phones that fold and have a pen can zoom in further. Can multi task 2 to 3 apps open at the same time on your screen. Let's not forget the translation features that are with all there phones. And they have had the google photo search since February of this year. Dang apple is behind like always. I mean 6 years of folding smart phones for samsung. Google is on there 2nd year and there are so many other smart phone companies that have it too.

idk about your budget but in case you can afford it I'd suggest getting a 13 Pro. I used the XR for almost three years and then upgraded to the 13 Pro. the much brighter display with more vibrant colors and especially 120 hertz are the top reasons to give this a shot - you won't miss your 11 Pro after! :)

I’m upgrading my 14 Pro Max to the 16 Pro Max. I’m looking forward to the lighter titanium design and upgraded cameras. I travel a lot, and my phone has taken over 20k photos in two years, so lighter and better camera options are good for me!
You’ll notice decent improvements in performance, battery, and camera use. Plus the additions of dynamic island, action button, camera button, and Apple intelligence. Nothing groundbreaking on their own, but together are enough to enjoy your new device for years to come where the 12 will slowly start to feel outdated.

Halide camera app can do this FYI, with process zero you can actually get unprocessed photo data. I know it's not the same as the $1000 phone you bought having that baked into the software, but there is a relatively inexpensive option to get this feature.
Im on the fence with upgrading to “Apple intelligence” curious to see how flexible the privacy settings will be on that versus Siri. IMO, it’s Apple ways of selling more users information.
I’m scratching my head as to why they didn’t place the new camera button higher up next to the lock button, where the thumb naturally meets the phone. Hell, they could have even made the lock/Siri button much smaller as it only needs a simple press or hold, to make more room for the camera button up top. The current positioning of the new camera button is literally in your palm, which makes it almost impossible to reach with your thumb, or with great difficulty, which defeats the whole object of the button in the first place🤦♂️

Apple just doesn’t want my money it seems. I would have upgraded my v6 watch if we’d seen the rumoured design change, but I’ll keep it for another year. Definitely have money for a refreshed AirPod Max… but I need to see USB C audio and lossless over wireless. I’ll stick with my Sennheisers for now.
The watch 10 has had a lot of improvements, compared to the previous few. But I was hoping for the bezels to be trimmed down and there was no mentions on battery. I'll be disappointed if it's the same. It's also disappointing that they didn't release a watch ultra 3. The series 10 at half the price, sounds poor the better buy. It's funny how they didn't release the airpods max 2, considering how many years it's been, since the original released. Other companies release their new headphones every 2 years, but it's been 4 years and still nothing. The airpods pro updates every 3 years, which is still a long wait, but it's fine. But the max should have been updated. But buying the 16 makes no sense, considering the a17 pro is better than the regular a18. So, if you just buy a one year old pro phone, that's brand new sealed. You're able to get it on a good deal. Maybe pay similarly or even less, for a far better phone. The only thing the 16 has over the 15 Pro is the camera control button. Nothing else. Everything else with the iPhone 15 pro or max is miles better. But the black doesn't look as black as the leaks. I hope they release a matte black version, or any shade of red. I've waited for a red pro phone for years. They just mentioned mag safe being faster. I think it's 25w and not 20w like the rumours suggested. I'm also not sure if the wired charging is 40w otherwise, they would have mentioned it. The way apple have done matching charging cable colours with the macbooks, I wish they did the same with the phones. I'm also disappointed that the camera didn't get upgraded. I think the main sensor hasn't changed since the 14 pro. So that's a big disappointment People have valid reasons to wait, one more year. But next year, they'll ask them to wait another year and then so on. 2027 is when we'll see the next big change, as it'll be the 20th anniversary. That's just a guess. But next year, they'll have a smaller dynamic island. Probably call it the dynamic garden or something. Similarly to how they slightly decreased the size of the notch for the 13 pro models only. But the selfie camera will finally get an upgrade, as it'll be 24mp. The telephoto lens will be 48mp as well. Giving all three cameras 48mp. But I'm not sure if the main sensor will be upgraded though. With the 18 pro models, we could possibly get a design change at the back of the phone, with the camera layout. Or they might save that for the following year. The front might also get a single cut out and it'll be called the dynamic planet. As the circle may be slightly bigger, because of 24mp camera or something. We'll see what happens. If people upgrade their phones every 2-4 years and has the 13 pro, do it now, then 3 more years later, we may get the iPhone XX that becomes the next big change, since the iPhone X. But the jump won't be the same. Because the iPhone 7 to the iPhone X was the biggest jumps ever and I don't see them ever replicating it. There's nothing they can do to replicate it. As technology has sort of peaked lately. If you have the 14 pro, then wait another year or 2 of course. Even though the 14/15 has the worst battery health span ever, as there's a huge drain. Anyone who upgraded to the 13 and still has it, they're lucky. I have the 13 pro max and I've taken care of it and three years later, it's on 95% battery health. That's because I never let it go below 30% unless there's no charger around, which is rare. I also never charge it above 80% and very rarely have the brightness so high up. I have it at 0-30% indoors and 40-50% outdoors

Minis were sold at an extremely low rate as people who are either larger or have bad eyesight would rather go with a larger model, and those without either generally went with the main model size. They fill the small gap by still offering the iPhone SE series, which gives you a smaller phone with the same components as a bit older model, and most people will deal with the home button to still have that phone size as the mini.

I agree. It feels like every year they rush to compile something of “innovation” together. Waiting every 2 years would give so much more time to create phones with elements that aren’t regurgitated year after year. I have always been one to upgrade my iPhone every 3-4 years, but I have an iPhone 13 Pro that is going strong. My entire family except myself has already upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro models which I think is ridiculous seeing as my 13 pro is still fast and in such good shape overall. As tempting as some of these changes are from a photography perspective, I still will wait till next year for the iPhone 17 or maybe even the iPhone 18.

People will find any reason to complain. When they make the new phones too different they’re “forcing people to upgrade” and when they don’t change enough they’re “not giving people any reason to upgrade”. I’m just happy they’re making solid, iterative changes that improve tangible things slightly year after year, so for people like me who only upgrade every 3-4 years, I feel like I’m getting a way better phone than the one I’m coming from, but i also don’t feel pressured to upgrade every single year.

They certainly weren't the first to do wireless charging, but they saw the flaw in it and fixed alignment issues with magnets, then a couple years later those magnets became the new Qi standard. They do market research, figure out what the average consumer cares about, and make theirs the best version of that thing. I don't care about cutting edge technology if it barely works or isn't relevant to me. I'd rather let android users beta test these new things to find out all the problems with them before Apple implements a better version.

Was thinking about getting a new iPhone. Don’t expect much in the way of new features anymore and yet I found it all underwhelming. Feel like they didn’t really add much at all to the regular model apart from a new camera feature to support a device practically nobody has. As for the Pro model, what they did add is pointless to 99.99% of customers and the colours are pretty boring.
Also, I feel like they regret ditching leather cases massively but also don’t want to backtrack…so they just give us nothing instead. Great 👍

idk about your budget but in case you can afford it I'd suggest getting a 13 Pro. I used the XR for almost three years and then upgraded to the 13 Pro. the much brighter display with more vibrant colors and especially 120 hertz are the top reasons to give this a shot - you won't miss your 11 Pro after! :)

I’m scratching my head as to why they didn’t place the new camera button higher up next to the lock button, where the thumb naturally meets the phone. Hell, they could have even made the lock/Siri button much smaller as it only needs a simple press or hold, to make more room for the camera button up top. The current positioning of the new camera button is literally in your palm, which makes it almost impossible to reach with your thumb, or with great difficulty, which defeats the whole object of the button in the first place🤦♂️

Apple just doesn’t want my money it seems. I would have upgraded my v6 watch if we’d seen the rumoured design change, but I’ll keep it for another year. Definitely have money for a refreshed AirPod Max… but I need to see USB C audio and lossless over wireless. I’ll stick with my Sennheisers for now.
The watch 10 has had a lot of improvements, compared to the previous few. But I was hoping for the bezels to be trimmed down and there was no mentions on battery. I'll be disappointed if it's the same. It's also disappointing that they didn't release a watch ultra 3. The series 10 at half the price, sounds poor the better buy.
It's funny how they didn't release the airpods max 2, considering how many years it's been, since the original released. Other companies release their new headphones every 2 years, but it's been 4 years and still nothing. The airpods pro updates every 3 years, which is still a long wait, but it's fine. But the max should have been updated. Maybe next year and then they'll do an update every 5 years or something, which is pretty ridiculous. 2 years should be the minimum and 4 years should be the max. For earbuds 2-3 years is fine. I hope to see more colour options for the airpods in the near future. But I doubt it. I hope the stems are slightly smaller on the next airpods pro models, possibly releasing next year
The regular iPhone 16 colours are a lot different to the leaks. But buying the 16 makes no sense, considering the a17 pro is better than the regular a18. So, if you just buy a one year old pro phone, that's brand new sealed. You're able to get it on a good deal. Maybe pay similarly or even less, for a far better phone. The only thing the 16 has over the 15 Pro is the camera control button. Nothing else. Everything else with the iPhone 15 pro or max is miles better. I won't be shocked it the iPhone 16 sells well, but anyone that buys it, is an idiot
With the pro phones, the desert titanium does look so much nicer than the leaks. But the black doesn't look as black as the leaks. I hope they release a matte black version, or any shade of red. I've waited for a red pro phone for years. When I saw it with the iPhone 7 or 8, I almost got it, but the iPhone X was way better and was hoping to see it with the flagship phones. So I've basically waited for 7-8 years and I'm disappointed with no red iPhone pro model. I also wish the action button had two more actions. Single and double clicks, as well as hold. Basically like the lock button. The camera control button would have been insane, if it was also a touch ID
They never mentioned how much better the battery is, or how fast the wired charging is. They just mentioned mag safe being faster. I think it's 25w and not 20w like the rumours suggested. I'm also not sure if the wired charging is 40w otherwise, they would have mentioned it. The way apple have done matching charging cable colours with the macbooks, I wish they did the same with the phones. I'm also disappointed that the camera didn't get upgraded. I think the main sensor hasn't changed since the 14 pro. So that's a big disappointment
People have valid reasons to wait, one more year. But next year, they'll ask them to wait another year and then so on. 2027 is when we'll see the next big change, as it'll be the 20th anniversary. That's just a guess. But next year, they'll have a smaller dynamic island. Probably call it the dynamic garden or something. Similarly to how they slightly decreased the size of the notch for the 13 pro models only. But the selfie camera will finally get an upgrade, as it'll be 24mp. The telephoto lens will be 48mp as well. Giving all three cameras 48mp. But I'm not sure if the main sensor will be upgraded though. With the 18 pro models, we could possibly get a design change at the back of the phone, with the camera layout. Or they might save that for the following year. The front might also get a single cut out and it'll be called the dynamic planet. As the circle may be slightly bigger, because of 24mp camera or something. We'll see what happens.
If people upgrade their phones every 2-4 years and has the 13 pro, do it now, then 3 more years later, we may get the iPhone XX that becomes the next big change, since the iPhone X. But the jump won't be the same. Because the iPhone 7 to the iPhone X was the biggest jumps ever and I don't see them ever replicating it. There's nothing they can do to replicate it. As technology has sort of peaked lately. If you have the 14 pro, then wait another year or 2 of course. Even though the 14/15 has the worst battery health span ever, as there's a huge drain. Anyone who upgraded to the 13 and still has it, they're lucky. I have the 13 pro max and I've taken care of it and three years later, it's on 95% battery health. That's because I never let it go below 30% unless there's no charger around, which is rare. I also never charge it above 80% and very rarely have the brightness so high up. I have it at 0-30% indoors and 40-50% outdoors
