I just saw his interview from when him and Winnona had just broke up. He was asked about the tattoo and said the same thing. That a tattoo was part of how he journal's his life, and that someday he could change it to Wino forever. He's consistent and telling the truth

What sickens me is that, so far, all of the allegations against Johnny that he struck Amber are unfounded, and yet, in that moment, when they are asking him about it, you can FEEL the tension in the room -- as a man, he's put under the most intense of scrutiny even with only allegations that he physically abused Amber. ON THE OTHER HAND, there are actual video recordings, and evidence, that Amber Heard struck Johnny and punched him -- and yet, those seem to just be brushed under the table. The way our culture looks upon male victims of abuse is SHAMEFUL. It's very hard to deal with an abuser, be it physical, verbal or both. You never know when it will start, what will set them off. You do your best to keep them happy so it doesn't happen, but it always does. I used to clean the carpet around my abuser while he sat asleep in the chair with my fingers instead of the vacuum so he wouldn't wake up and find that the carpet was dirty.

That's what also caught my attention. It's absolutely not because he would feel bad for bad mouthing her publically, it's just better for him if he doesn't and focuses on defending himself, as it would be consistent with his testimony of always disengaging from fights (he was not the attacker in fights same as he isn't the attacker in court, he never wanted to fight, he doesn't want to fight now, he's just defending himself). Besides that, it just makes him more likeable and is more encouraging of empathy, and is also professional in the court setting, the judge would object to him calling her names anyway, he would not be able to do much to her by "bad mouthing" her in court, what I'm getting at is that not attacking her in any way verbally in court is a much better strategy than any other, it's like "I'm talking about my experience here, and the image of Amber that you get is just a byproduct, which means it's true since I'm not focusing on making her look bad, she just looks bad on her own, and I'm calm as I said I was, I'm innocent." That and the jokes make him ten times more likeable than AH and her team, which we'd like to think, doesn't matter in court, because people are objective in court, but really people are never totally objective, if he makes the court empathize with him and makes them laugh, that's a pretty big win. Ofc, don't think I'm saying he's lying about being a victim, being aware of what impression you're making and using it doesn't make anyone a liar, it could be used even if you have the truth on your side to give yourself a better chance of winning, I mean, you always want to present yourself as best as you can.

Any success he had she was angry and begrudging about it, any person who was an important part of his life up to and including his own children was threatening to her, and her position of complete dominance that she sought to maintain in their relationship. As awful as what he went through was, he still was able to get out and thank god for that. He spent 4 long long years 3/4ths of them with someone who was determined to make him miserable every day of his life, he could have ended up enduring it for a decade or more and then she would have been able to irreparably break him and to take off with half of everything that he had. Thats the only victory I can see in this whole debacle for him. Its no small feat to break out of the clutches of someone like her, but he found the strength to do it and it probably saved his life.

I agree this is a very problematic relationship. I have a feeling that while he seems like a good guy, His Alcoholism and drug addiction could wear on anyone’s nerves after a while. As far as I know Vanessa was the one pursued him and got pregnant and he settled for the life she offered which was convenient and peaceful for him at that time. I didn’t know Johnny Depp stutters. I feel bad for him. As a survivor of abuse, it’s sad when people don’t believe you or ask, “why didn’t you just leave?”
Sometimes its hard to leave. Your self esteem is knocked down to nothing. Sometimes you feel like you deserve it. I think really caring people have a harder time with an abusive person. I understand Johnny and wish him the best
I don't think he actually stutters but he's in a fragile position where he's looking for the best words that won't harm him more than what it hurts him to be exposing his private life and personal emotions to the world.
He changed Winona's name to Wino to create humor borne out of pain - a tattoo he willingly inked on himself. Amber knows how significant Winona was to him and maybe they had a talk about it that is why she hated that particular tattoo of his. Not to be outdone, she had to coerce him to have her inked on his body as well. Johnny's soul knew but he allowed his poisons to dull his judgement.
The Jury likes him, at this point I believe they're just letting Amber dig her own grave even further for the final blow. It wouldn't be a satisfying win if the world doesn't see each and every single inch of who she really is

First it was the article wasn't about him, then its it was about him but she didn't say his name, then Freedom of speech. The whole story is really sad. You can see that Johnny genuinely loved the woman and she just used him to get famous. However I'm still on this side, that Johnny kinda ruined everything for himself when he had a caring and loving wife in the face of Vanessa Paradis and fell for a younger body. When will men understand that you can NOT expect a girl younger for 20 years to love you just for being you and not using you? This attempt to become younger and have fun has cost Johnny a career, and as a big admirer of his talent and personality as I am, I still think that this is the lesson he should have been taught (but not in the court, hope Amber will loose and get cancelled for being a sadistic abuser).
Johnny was inlove with Kate Moss and had been with her for 4 years when he met Vanessa. Kate and Johnny were on a 'break', and they allowed eachother to sleep around whilst on 'breaks', or when they were working abroad, but the idea was that they were going to get back after Johnny would finish shooting a film in Paris with Polanski. When Vanessa heard he was shooting in Paris, she would hang out in his hotel bar, in order to bump into him, because for many years she had been obsessed with him, ever since they were once introduced in the Viper Room in LA. She has said it in French interviews that when she saw him she just knew that one day he would be hers. So when she heard he was shooting in Paris she hanged out in the bar of his hotel, and that's how she met him. He had a fling with her during the duration of the shoot, but very soon Vanessa got pregnant, deliberately one would say, and that was that. She also called paparazzi to take photos of them whilst in the street so that it would make the tabloids, so that Kate Moss would see it, and then very soon after she let it be known that she was pregnant. Johnny would have looked like a douchebag if he left her, so he continued with her. Anyways, Johnny had wanted a baby for some years, first with Winona and then with Kate, but they were too young and in the middle of successful careers, but he was 10 years older than them and wanted to settle down with a family. So when Vanessa got pregnant, well he went with the flow. However, he was still inlove Kate and I believe that if it wasn't for Lily Rose and later Jack, he wouldn't have stayed with Vanessa as long as he did, fourteen years. Kate was devastated when she found out about the pregnancy because she knew that she had lost Johnny for good now. I think Vanessa was crazy for Johnny but not the other way around. She shouldn't had got pregnant, she should have seen with Johnny WANTED to be with her for her, and nothing else. She never gave him that chance and I believe he kind of resented it. That's the real reason he never married her, he loved her but wasn't inlove with her. In the end, he did Vanessa a favour by leaving her. She is now happily married to a French Actor/Director and living a happy life in France. I believe Johnny hadn't felt a huge spark for another woman for many years, ever since Winona perhaps, which explains why he fell for Amber so hard during the shooting of The Rum Diary.

I read a book written by Johnny himself, "Pirate of the Hollywood", and there he made it clear that Vanessa saved him and she was the love of his life, that's why I was really sad when he fell for the looks of Amber :( But we can only speculate, I guess, though it's very interesting.

Likely nothing. She used to 'read' a book during filming, to give a smart impression. Here she wants to give a powerful on top of the game impression. She often aims a look at JD either after or before scribing. It's scare tactics. She really has nothing. I also find it weird that she looks directly either at camera or at the judge, most of the time. This doesn't seem normal to me in these circumstances. Is she trying to intimidate or control us or the judge by staring, or just to again, look like she's on top of it? Anyhow, it is over-confident.

What sickens me is that, so far, all of the allegations against Johnny that he struck Amber are unfounded, and yet, in that moment, when they are asking him about it, you can FEEL the tension in the room -- as a man, he's put under the most intense of scrutiny even with only allegations that he physically abused Amber. ON THE OTHER HAND, there are actual video recordings, and evidence, that Amber Heard struck Johnny and punched him -- and yet, those seem to just be brushed under the table. The way our culture looks upon male victims of abuse is SHAMEFUL. There's this stupid assumption that, "Oh, he's a big strong man, he should be able to defend himself or just walk away if she strikes him."

"Always tried to keep her mood up" is what EVERY abuse victim does. You want to cut the monster off at the knees by placating constantly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.
It's very hard to deal with an abuser, be it physical, verbal or both. You never know when it will start, what will set them off. You do your best to keep them happy so it doesn't happen, but it always does. I used to clean the carpet around my abuser while he sat asleep in the chair with my fingers instead of the vacuum so he wouldn't wake up and find that the carpet was dirty.

That's what also caught my attention. It's absolutely not because he would feel bad for bad mouthing her publically, it's just better for him if he doesn't and focuses on defending himself, as it would be consistent with his testimony of always disengaging from fights (he was not the attacker in fights same as he isn't the attacker in court, he never wanted to fight, he doesn't want to fight now, he's just defending himself). Besides that, it just makes him more likeable and is more encouraging of empathy, and is also professional in the court setting, the judge would object to him calling her names anyway, he would not be able to do much to her by "bad mouthing" her in court, what I'm getting at is that not attacking her in any way verbally in court is a much better strategy than any other, it's like "I'm talking about my experience here, and the image of Amber that you get is just a byproduct, which means it's true since I'm not focusing on making her look bad, she just looks bad on her own, and I'm calm as I said I was, I'm innocent." That and the jokes make him ten times more likeable than AH and her team, which we'd like to think, doesn't matter in court, because people are objective in court, but really people are never totally objective, if he makes the court empathize with him and makes them laugh, that's a pretty big win. Ofc, don't think I'm saying he's lying about being a victim, being aware of what impression you're making and using it doesn't make anyone a liar, it could be used even if you have the truth on your side to give yourself a better chance of winning, I mean, you always want to present yourself as best as you can.

She also called paparazzi to take photos of them whilst in the street so that it would make the tabloids, so that Kate Moss would see it, and then very soon after she let it be known that she was pregnant. Johnny would have looked like a douchebag if he left her, so he continued with her. Anyways, Johnny had wanted a baby for some years, first with Winona and then with Kate, but they were too young and in the middle of successful careers, but he was 10 years older than them and wanted to settle down with a family. So when Vanessa got pregnant, well he went with the flow. However, he was still inlove Kate and I believe that if it wasn't for Lily Rose and later Jack, he wouldn't have stayed with Vanessa as long as he did, fourteen years. Kate was devastated when she found out about the pregnancy because she knew that she had lost Johnny for good now. I think Vanessa was crazy for Johnny but not the other way around. She shouldn't had got pregnant, she should have seen with Johnny WANTED to be with her for her, and nothing else. She never gave him that chance and I believe he kind of resented it. That's the real reason he never married her, he loved her but wasn't inlove with her. In the end, he did Vanessa a favour by leaving her. She is now happily married to a French Actor/Director and living a happy life in France. I believe Johnny hadn't felt a huge spark for another woman for many years, ever since Winona perhaps, which explains why he fell for Amber so hard during the shooting of The Rum Diary.

Likely nothing. She used to 'read' a book during filming, to give a smart impression. Here she wants to give a powerful on top of the game impression. She often aims a look at JD either after or before scribing. It's scare tactics. She really has nothing. I also find it weird that she looks directly either at camera or at the judge, most of the time. This doesn't seem normal to me in these circumstances. Is she trying to intimidate or control us or the judge by staring, or just to again, look like she's on top of it? Anyhow, it is over-confident.
