  • During his testimony on Tuesday, Johnny Depp talked about his childhood. He talked about how his father leaving affected him and his mother, who became very depressed afterward.
Actor Johnny Depp is suing ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation in connection with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed, although Heard’s article did not specifically name Depp. Amber Heard is counter-suing Depp for $100 million.

IMO, Johnny 's mother bears the brunt of guilt in these violent episodes. From many many many experiences of extreme violence from my mother, I know the fault lays also with the views of people in positions of authority.....teachers, police, court judges....doctors....etc. They truly believe the words of the perpetrators simply because they are in a position of authority....over the youth.

(when I hear the tapes. I hear my mother. Very triggering)
Parents are our first teachers in everything. From How we see the world to how we see ourselves. Some have brilliant professors, some nurturers, others a masterful mixture of both, and anywhere in between. But , many of us start out with damaged tutors who enjoy cruelty and ridicule with their daily lessons. We all hit a crossroads in our lives; different times, different ages, where we realize the only way to escape their teaching is to Never pass on what we were taught to our children/spouses/ or even perfect strangers. Loveing yourself can be enough to make a person exceed to great heights they were never told they were capable of

One thing that's obvious with Depp is that like many addicts, he has no desire to hurt other people - he is too busy hurting himself. And I say that as someone who has also struggled with addiction. He is a fundamentally calm person who is more concerned with medicating himself and soothing his own mind than 'winning' an argument. He tried to walk away from the relationship to save his own sanity, and that sent her into an untameable rage.

I think you are very right. One of the most disgusting things about the AH team’s strategy was their attempt to appeal to people’s prejudice and misconceptions about addiction. It’s like, can we please hold more than one thought at a time? Can we be sensitive to allegations of IPV, while also remembering that addiction doesn’t automatically mean a person is violent, or ”bad”. An addict is like any other person, only a person who is self-medicating. And like any other person they can be good or bad, or more likely, a little bit of both.

What hurts me is that he attracted a woman who resembles his mother's behavior. So, he never healed from the wounds his mother inflicted on him. I give him a lot of credit in bringing this up, and I really praise him for the father he has become. Amber has no idea of the depth of pain he has endured and what he is willing to avoid. This is why he prefers to leave the scene. But she can't stand that. That to her resembles abandonment. Well, to not experience abandonment, how about improving her character? Now that I've heard Johnny Depp, I respect him much more, I honor him and his choices. In my opinion, Amber should be history in everyone's books. She can get a job as a file clerk! The papers she shuffles cannot hurt anyone! I'm embarrassed as a woman that women can develop that kind of personality and manipulate people as they do. She has proven by her so-called love notes that she was constantly apologizing and wanted him back. That showed me that she was the aggressor. He kept hoping she learned, but her warped behavior is deeply embedded in her. I've been able to put the pieces together. I don't need to see any more of the videos. His courageous recalls of his childhood answered why he stayed. He tried to be like his Dad and put up with more than he needed to put up with. I find her to be despicable now. Nothing can turn my opinion about her. She is playing out his Mom's personality. All I can pray for is that he somehow comes to forgive his Mom or gain an attitude of a gratitude of what she taught him not to be - and the strong man he has become. It's difficult to forgive actions like his Mom's. This is why he refers to her by her name, and not by a beloved, respectful name as Mom. She was never a nurturing Mom. I urge him to find a cognitive therapist who will help him through EFT or other means to let go of his Mom out of his cellular memory. Amber Heard was too jealous of him and wanted his money. So, I believe she fabricated stories from her own warped mind. Because Johnny's hurts are so deep, your body remembers, and you react! He learned from his Dad to not strike at her and make her bloody. Instead, he thew bottles. The last person he wants in his life is someone who plays out his Mom like Heard is doing. I'm sending him so much love and respect right now. I hope he gets a chance to read this. Olympia Kall , Cleveland, Ohio

Everything you say resonates with me. I am sorry you had to say all this to cameras and the world. I could barely say it to myself for decades. I love your movies and Jack Sparrow is the beating heart and soul of the Pirates movies. So glad you found a way to turn your pain into creativity, resilience and strength. Much love to you. You probably won’t ever read this, but I pray that some of my good vibes reach you and help you heal. God bless and take care. Please go easy on the drugs and alcohol.

You can see here Johnny sometimes smirks when he talks about traumatizing events. It's a safety mechanism he uses when talking about things that have hurt him. He also pauses a lot when he talks about hurtful events. He did both of those things while talking about Amber and that's how you know he was telling the truth. Those are things people can't turn on and off while talking about such events. People might play with their hair, fidget around or stutter. It just what we all do to cope with such awful memories. It's just another reason why he always came off believable. We on a subconscious level notice and relate. While Amber always seemed fake while discussing events.

yes, I thought that too. In fact, at the beginning of his case I was on a neutral side but as the case processed further on I believed him because first off no one would sue an ex if they weren't right, he had a strong detailed explanation and memories of what happened to him (compared to his ex), and I can see that his lawyers also were very passionate to bring him justice and protect him (perhaps that's why they had strong proofs and arguments compared to ambers lawyer). And to whoever who believes Amber, while bringing up the point that why did Johnny give amber the 5 million pounds in a previous settlement, well I just want to say that because it was the verdict back then that made him do that. if he were to not give the money as per the settlement, then maybe he might get into trouble for not paying up, and no True/Honest person wants to do that.

The sad thing is, women with bpd nowadays have more high functions and are even that sickening that they even try to change how BPD is classified, and dont want it to be a toxic thing, but a victim thing. But people that have known BPD'er know that it is the female version of being a toxic narcissist but even MORE TWISTED, with the victim role and the power they have (since they will easily be more believed as being 'victim'. BPD'ers are dangerous and i would advise veryone to read well about it. But like I said BPD'ers are so manipulative and good at manipulating themselves, that they are going through lenghts on millions of places on the internet, fighting against victims of their behaviour instead of doing something about...their behaviour. That said though, I believe he was absolutely and terribly treated by his so called Mother and also Heard. So many of the words and other things he stated rung as so true to me as I dealt with (quite literally) the exact same situation. In truth I couldn't care less about either of these two but I fully support this man in attempting to gain even a sliver of peace after decades of insecurity. Growing up in such situations truly does effect the person massively. Even to this day, even as an adult, even as a very capable adult, I still block my door nightly, it is a habit that never went away.
Long story short, we sense our own and those who have seen the darkness and has been waylaid by it, it leaves lasting damage. Some turn to violence (most do), some turn to other things, but credit to JD as he stayed calm when dealing with another monster which is VERY hard to do.

Unfortunately they both have had tough upbringings and have never healed and have been drawn to each other because of the familiarity of their lives. I always hear people saying: "Why did he or she stay so long?" - it's not an easy question for certain people. Let's remember that in order to have a successful abuser, you need to find a good victim that is unwilling to leave. As we can all see in this case, not only she has mental issues but also our Johnny grew up untreated from the childhood and adolescence mental and psychological wounds of a dysfunctional family. Johnny escaped, like many do, from the pain and shame through legal/illegal drugs and alcohol. Sweeping our inner struggles under the rug it's simply an illusion. The 'out of sight, out of mind' kind of thinking is not healthy. Many of us had dysfunctional families growing up. It's definitely not our fault, however once you have the means of getting help, you must address these issues! It's very important for our own health and it helps us to make good choices in life. I have no doubt that Johnny fell in love with Amber's outer beauty and missed the signs of an abuser. Great lesson for all of us. Unfortunately, for many of us is already too late as we recognize this type of behavior in our own skin. Sad but true.

When I had my children and having had such horrible roll models for parents, I felt completely inept when it came to raising my own children. So, I came to the conclusion that I would literally do the exact opposite of what my parents had done and believe it or not, it worked out beautifully! I also, lived vicariously through them, giving them the childhood I wished a I could have experienced. They had birthday parties every year and wonderful Christmases. When money was tight, I put things on lay away starting in July so, they would have a wonderful Christmas without disappointments. @@joanmccarthy4809 Hi Joan, would you mind sharing where you get the information that repetition compulsion in the formation of adult relationships that mirror traumatic childhood bonds is a myth?
Also, while the understanding of these mechanisms working this way in the psyche is understood in almost all major psychological modalities, as well as one of the few concepts that originated with Freud and was expounded upon by Jung and
not only survived every major reiteration based on more refined research of psychodynamic theory, but actually became more refined and understood to the point that It’s now easily soon regardless of the modality used (not just in a traditional psychodynamic or psychoanalysis but also very foundational to Imago relationship therapy and even somatic therapy etc), But even though it is so foundationly understood there Is no model where this is played out consciously… Because why would someone consciously choose to re-create the most painful relationship of their life?
The only reason that this works is that they’re unconscious processes. The person honestly doesn’t believe that they are making relationship decisions or computing the emotional algebra of their reactions based on What happened during different stages of childhood development with their primary caregivers. That’s why you will find that the people that are you the most vehemently against the idea that their decisions are dictated by unconscious motivations from past experiences are the ones that are most likely to actually be doing that. The stronger the resistance to looking at that idea or accepting it consciously despite the growing evidence uncovered in the therapeutic process the greater that these unconscious processes are functioning exactly as they are understood to work in these circumstances.
So, just so I can make sure my information is correct, where did you get the information that it’s a myth and can you break it down for me and help me understand how, if it only happens sometimes, what determines when it does happen and when it doesn’t and how the heck does this process work consciously instead of unconsciously?
