Re-listening to this I am struck again by how calm and reasonable Johnny is trying to be and how absolutely off the rails Amber sounds. I have nothing but the UTMOST respect for Mr. Depp admitting this and after seeing tons of court footage, it's clear he is the victim. Having money doesn't mean one ceases to be a human being. If this destroys the double standard then he's actually a hero.
It must not have been easy for Johnny to publicly admit, to not only himself, but to the world that he was a victim of domestic violence. Cases regarding male abuse victims are tragically underreported because there’s the stigma that comes with it. One of the great things that came out of this trial was that so many men had felt comfortable enough to open up and talk about their own experiences with domestic violence and abuse. I give Johnny Depp a lot of credit in changing the conversation in regards to abuse victims that allows more inclusivity and taking away some of the stigma behind being labeled as a male victim of domestic abuse.

The recording at the start of this video is so telling. Depp comes across as sincere, genuine, calm, with intentions of avoiding conflict, whereas Heard comes across as unstable, manipulative and unable to manage a relationship. It’s really sad hearing someone react as she does, she needs therapy and she absolutely should not be in a relationship. It’s so toxic.
Holy crap, I can't imagine having to live with a person that's so emotionally abusive and so manipulative. I was in one toxic relationship when I was young.. listening to this now and hearing everything that's being said I realise now I made the right call walking away. As someone who recently divorced a woman who acted like this, I can feel for Johnny. An abusive, controlling woman who can turn on a dime and play the victim is emotionally and psychologically draining. This is a manipulative woman and the best thing to do is to cut someone like this loose. Get as far away as possible.

Glad you made it out, I hope you are able to heal from that situation. I was with an emotionally abusive person and got out around 2011 and I still deal with the mental repercussions from it but I've been in a much much better place since I left. 💗

After watching the forensic psychologist’s testimony and diagnosis of Amber with BPD and HPD, her reaction to him wanting to walk away completely makes sense. The fear of abandonment and use of dramatics/victimization of herself to try and get him to stay all line up with what the psychologist explained as key traits of the disorders. I hope she gets the help she needs and I also hope that Johnny is able to clear his name and heal from the abuse he went through.

This trial is about the articel and maybe that will make him loose. But the whole point of this trial is to show the world what really happens. Sadly, I actually don't think he will win. He would win hands down if this case was about him being abused. But it's a defamation trial. The attorney would probably try to show that this was an abusive relationship, and so she was right when she said she was a victim of domestic abuse, even if she did most of the abusing.
My consolation is that this trial isn't about him winning or losing anymore. It's so the world can see all he endured at the hands of this woman, clear his name, heal, and get his career back on track. And so we can see her for the abuser she is. In fact, it is even more broadly about men finally speaking out and truly being heard as victims of domestic violence at the hands of their female partners.

I understand how he is feeling here. I had been broken mentally and physically. I had lost so much and had everything in my life destroyed, my life, mental and physical abuse, my credit, and almost lost my home. I was almost homeless. Narsacistic people will take all they can until they have drained everything in you including your last drop of blood if you are so far under your depression that you just want it to end and figure this is what will make it all stop and be over. I thank God that part of my life is over, but it has damaged me and my trust of others. I hope Johnny can move past this once this is all over and get his life and career back. As a survivor of narcissistic abuse it is very difficult to listen to these recordings however it brings to light that men can fall victim to female narcissists; we have witnessed this now with this trial and with Will and Jada... It takes a lot of bravery to be this vulnerable & Johnny is becoming a voice for the voiceless; thank you Johnny! You have been vindicated!

I am also a victim of this type of behaviour in my marriage. It lasted 6 1/2 years and the divorce lasted 17 years.
Being very close to someone who has responded to many domestic abuse situations, I can tell you men suffer much more from domestic violence than the general public knows!

You can tell she is acting in the recording. The fact she is recording this and says calmly “stop poking me with a stick” shows she was recording it to try and make him seem abusive but he’s trying to leave. He wasn’t attacking her. He was trying to get away from her.

Unfortunately for her, she clearly has some kind of personality disorder, as even with this control over the narrative, she is still unable to behave remotely like a sane person would.
Surreptitious recording only works if you catch _obvious actual abuse,_ otherwise you come across as incredibly manipulative... as she very much does.

You have to understand that the forensic psychologist was hired by Depp's team and they knew what was in these tapes, so they laid down a step by step case on how Amber's psychosis and the tapes interact, this way jurors and the public who don't have a background in law will conclude that they 'match up' at a elementary level. Now don't get me wrong, I think Amber is a vindictive narcissist who put Johnny thru hell, though some blame must be put on him for marrying her in the first place, but either way, I just wanted you to understand that the forensic psychologist testimony didn't match the recordings of unstable Amber by accident.
