    Parts of the video have stutters etc. Most of this was due to recording the flights directly on the headset. It was very smooth in the headset :) although I did get some micro-stutters. If you have the Reverb G2 then economically it makes sense to stick with that for now, but if your looking to get into VR then PICO 4 must be a consideration.

      Very interesting. Can I make viewers aware that Amazon don't have the 128GB version in stock at the moment so you'll be offered scalper pricing 🤮! 256GB is £449 and "supplied by Amazon".

      Mark, I believe that for streaming to the headset it is important to have the fastest WIFI connection (ideally 6E but 5 should work) rather than ISP speed (although that matters as well). Hopefully they'll sort out the cable data transfer, but that might be a hardware issue rather than firmware.
      I'm still waiting for variable dioptre lenses which are trivial to implement and I don't know why so few headsets don't offer it.

    • @ColinDyckes
      @ColinDyckes Год назад +1

      @@SimHangerFS Sorry Mark, it wasn't a criticism of you, but I don't think most people know that if Amazon are out of stock of a product you will often be shown a third party seller who will often have scalping level pricing. This seems especially the case with flight Sim products.
      Wait for Amazon themselves to have stock, as with the 256GB version which would be my choice anyway.

    Best video on setting up the Pico 4 by far! You saved my Pico from being retired, I was desperate as I couldn‘t get it sharp, even with VD. And now the Pico is close to the G2, you‘re right, the difference is marginal. For me, only letters or numbers in magenta color are a kind of blurred compared to the G2 but that is not a show-stopper at all! Thank you!!

    Another great video. I tried the pico4 a couple of weeks back, it really is capable of some stunning visuals but, as you stated, it really works the GPU and my 3080ti just drowned under it, i managed about 1fps at the quality needed. I used the USB-C to Ethernet method of connection and it was solid and fast. I sent the pico back as i am not in a position to get a 4090 yet.

The visuals are quite smooth (external views), but cant max out on ultra settings for all,but views around cockpit (a little laggy)? Didnt know you adapt to connect to the PC ethernet port, but what if your on a wired Ethernet connection that has only 1 port? Also you think will this be a better solution the the standard USB C - USE 3.0 connection? Help greatly appreciated..many thanks, Mike

    I've been thinking of upgrading from my Quest 2 due to the lenses and limited IPD selection causing a relatively small sweet spot and rather blurry vision + low fov overall. This may be a contender as it tackles the core issues I've had with my Q2 in the last two years.. certainly comes in at a competitive price as well!

    Buy it, Buy it, Buy it..... Even with my AMD 6800 card this headset freaking rocks.
    And the face comfort thing has either been fixed or they made this thing to fit my head. I have no issues with light leakage or discomfort.
    The Pico 4 is hands down a major visual improvement for MSFS over the Quest 2. I think all PCVR games actually look better but I'm only here to talk about MSFS and the Pico 4. I debated whether to buy a Pico since I have and for the most part really enjoy my Quest 2. However there is always this nagging issue of clarity with the quest when trying to read gauges and the screens in planes. After watching this post and others like it I thought I would get the Pico and be ready to upgrade to a 7900 xtx or that other GPU that I can't bare to speak outloud because of the price. However I really wanted to spend my coins on a DOF Reality 2H motion rig. Can't buy both and still have a place to live (wifey would kill me).
    So I gambled hoping and praying that the Pico 4 could deliver a little more clarity with my sad little 6800(not even the XT). Dude this thing not only kills in the clarity category but I also some how am getting about 20-25 more FPS than before. This is with increased resolution HOW SWAY... What the hell is going on. This is with only 2 hours of playing with settings in Steam VR, Open XR, and MSFS itself. Sorry so long winded but I'm so stoked I just want to let everyone on the fence about this know Buy it. I live in Tennessee btw I bought mine from Walmart on the web. Delivered UPS in 2 days with absolutely no issues. Oh BTW I turned off Upscaling in Open XR and what I assume was the Video Compression Artifacts went bye bye. I do have a dedicated wifi network for my Pico that i'm less than 15 feet away from router as well. CPU is Ryzen 9 5700 32 GB of Ram sorry don't now the speed.

    Was a little confusion around broadband connection. Internet Broadband connection yes for MSFS, but excellent local WI-FI is what’s needed for streaming for the host PC. Ideally the PC is wired to the WI-FI router and the headset connects on 5G band. Works OK for both headset and PC on 5G Wi-Fi, depending on where router is.
    Great video A+

      Yea, for some reason i've seen multiple reviewers talk about beefy internet connections required when using Virtual Desktop with the Pico, it made me wonder if for some reason the pico VD version was streaming over wan instead of lan which would have been very strange. But yea, just people confusing wifi with internett.

    Hi Mark. Great video again...I purchased a Pico 4 as an upgrade from my Rift S. I run a mid range system AMD Ryzen 7, 32 GB Ram and an RTX3070. I bought the Pico mainly for using with DCS as I had heard good things about it following a lot of research with RTX3070 users. For DCS and my setup I have seen a big improvement over my Rift S. I have used both Pico Streaming Assistant in USB Tethered mode and via WIFI and I have also used Virtual Desktop in WIFI mode only and also use Steam VR. Both give good performance which is further enhanced with your Open XR toolkit settings detailed in this video. Out of curiosity I tried my Pico with MSFS and again I get a big improvement in quality. I am getting about 50FPS and again with the combination of Open XR am getting a much better experience and crucially much better frame rates. I think (as you say) the Pico 4 is excellent value for what you get. What I would add is that I don't doubt for 1 min that an RTX4090 would improve my experience beyond measure but I do have to disagree with you slightly that a 4090 is required to use the Pico 4. For me buying a Pico 4 has been a game changer. Thanks again for the great work and content you put out for the flight sim community it is greatly appreciated.

    I have a 3090 and the Pico 4, and it serves me fine. I have over a hundred hours flying with it, but yes, if Pico ever released a DP-capable version of the Pico 4 (the 3rd gen version of the Pico VR headset was available that way), I would be one of the first to trade my HMD for that.
    A 4090 would be lovely, especially once frame generation in VR becomes a configurable setting. I think as long as you lower some settings, you can still get smooth, clear performance with the 3000 series cards.

    Great video. I also bought a Pico 4 after watching Vr Flight sim guy, even tho I only have an RTX3090. I thought I could always upgrade to a 4090 later if needed. However I've found my newly built system- i7 13700k, Asus Tuf 3090, 32gb ddr5 6000mhz Ram, 2TB ssd allows me to run MSFS with Ultra setting and is very playable, However despite my GPU running it on the pico 4 better than expected, I can definitely see there's more potential to unlock so I will be upgrading to a 4090 at some point.
    Also as far as you needing more batteries for long play time, why not save money and just buy a 5mtr USB type C 3.0 and have it wired! Battery lasts way longer this way.

    Out of curiosity, when you were in OpenXR toolkit you maxed out your override resolution to 3240x3240 per eye. How come you didn’t set that to 2160 x 2160 per eye to match your pico’s native resolution? I’m asking because if you render the game at 100% in steam or OpenXR then override in openxr toolkit to native res that usually provides excellent visuals along with excellent frames. Just was curious about this because I am still learning how all these layers work. For example for the G2 and playing DCS, I have Windows Mixed Reality Open XR tools set to 100% render scale. Then when DCS is running I open up OpenXR toolkit, and set Upscaling to CAS with sharpness at 20 - 35% depending on visuals and your eyes. From there I go to Override resolution and dial that down to match the 2160x2160 of the headset as close as possible. The net result for me is excellent detail and an increase in frames, best of both worlds and what I find to be the sweet spot in optimizations for the G2. Naturally I would think the same could apply to the Pico4 here. Thanks for the video and hope to see you trying this out in DCS sometime.

    • @OperatorPuski
      @OperatorPuski Год назад +1

      @@williamwidjaja850 thanks for that info. So I read up on this some. So barrel offsets the pin cushion effect and that is achieved by upping the resolution to 1.4. Mainly because of how our eyes see an image from a flat panel though curved lenses. Easy enough. What I’m still unsure about is I guess specifically to the G2 since that’s all I have right now. I’ve tried both ways, render at 140% and let it display 3200x3200 to the screen. Then I’ve done it the other way, render at 140% and then override it down to anywhere from 2160x2160 to 2426x2426. In both cases the image to my eyes looks the same. Keep in mind the only part of a G2 that looks good is the center sweet spot. No matter what the edges in peripheral look blurry so I can’t see any differences there either. Do you know what I am missing or is it simply a G2 thing. I’m moving over to Pimax soon so maybe this will be more noticeable to me on a Pimax. But thanks again for showing me about Pin and Barrel cushion effects

      @@publicname515 the frame rate is definitely dependent on your system and not the headset.
      I keep my setting pretty high because for games like FS I like quality over performance, for the most part.
      I haven't checked my actual frame rate. I do know it most likely isn't 60 fps but I don't have an issue flying at all. I could tweek the video settings down a bit and probably get it to run as smooth as butter.
      As far as which headset? The Pico 4 does have better image quality hands down and the Screen door effect isn't as bad as the quest 2 in my opinion.
      Pico 4 weighs less too. Lol
      I will be honest though. The facial interface isn't very comfy and I get light leak from each side of my face. Using the silicone cover that I have for my Quest, which fits but not perfectly helped a lot with the comfort issue and even helped with the light leak.
      I recommend buying a facial interface aftermarket. I haven't yet but I will soon.

    Just wanna say Thanks! don't mind the amount from an unemployment like me.
    but the guide have proven to be doable (50fps) on my mid spec i9-9980HK + RTX3080Ti
    of course i set openxr resolution lower to 3116x3116

    Loving this headset for this sim..One problem I have tho as I fly the Fenix A320 and the 737 when I take the headset off there is no way to stop the headset from going into sleep mode…wish there was an option to keep headset in always on mode as I use my quest 2 link cable to keep it charged

      Yes, when I come out of the headset I switch the sim back to 2D mode first.

    Hi again Mark, Iv been trying to find your video about locking frame rate to 45fps but i cant find it, Please could you link me to that video if you dont mind?

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  Год назад +1

      Run headset at 90hz enable reprojection this will basically do this for you. Alternatively lock the fps @ 45 in toolkit.

    I personally use a 3060Ti / i5 1600K / 16Gb RAM / Virtual Desktop app / 60MB/s internet and it works completely fine with medium settings on the Pico 4. I wouldn't say no to a higher GPU of course, though the experience is already superb. DO NOT use the Pico Streaming assistant, the image quality is pretty bad and no settings an be tweaked.

    I got al really blurry image in the Pico, I can see maximum 50feet half sharp, the rest is pixeled, got about 30-40fps (limited at 90fps) and the frame rate showed in every eye is 18-25fps. Didn,t find any solution. got 13900k/(autoclock 6000Mhz), 4090 (auto tuning 2805Mhz) 32GB Ram, all overclocked. Steam VR resolution 180%, wifi 5Ghz connected. 😪
