      Same.
I’ve got over 1000 hours on Xbox, and at some point it just felt repetitive… probably around hour 700.

No Man's Sky is really one of the rare success stories of updating a game and fixing it after all the negative reviews of the initial release and some people even calling it a scam and false advertising with how bare bones the initial release was.

This is literally the update I always dreamed about since NMS got started with the updates years ago. As an illustrator what I love about NMS is the whole visual experience , namely , the worlds. I was always so frustrated with the lack of variety in the universe and every time i saw an update coming i got even more frustrated because most updates focused on gameplay and not on the actual planetary universe as I wanted. My "gameplay" on this game is exploring. Walking for hours just admiring the landscapes and therefore having really interesting alien places to discover was my thing and also what frustrated me for the lack of variety. I´m one of the original 2016 players and one that didnt hated the game at all. In fact I still miss the old 2016 terrain generation that gave me such epic alien vistas that were taken out of the game when Next update arrived and terrain became more naturalistic than it was in 2016.
So for years i´ve been playing NMS mostly waiting for new types of terrain , alien worlds and visual stuff to discover and "photograph". As a professional illustrator NMS has inspired me for years now and I´m sure this new update will continue to do that. Thank you.

    • @cg56578
      @cg56578 Месяц назад

@@chrisa8863 I never thought I’d be telling this story, but the truth has to be known. My name is Alex, and I'm from the year 2300. Things are not as they used to be. In my time, the world is a shadow of its former self, and the spark that ignited the downfall was none other than a gaming company. It all started with the acquisition of a small but beloved studio by EA Games.
I remember the announcement vividly. The gaming community was buzzing with mixed emotions when EA bought out Hello Games, the creators of No Man’s Sky. Some were hopeful, others skeptical. No one could have predicted the series of events that followed.
The first sign of the impending disaster came with an update to No Man’s Sky. It was supposed to be a routine patch, maybe with a few bug fixes and minor improvements. Instead, it introduced the game's first paid update. Among the new features was an exclusive spaceship, priced at an astronomical $80. The outcry was immediate. Gamers everywhere protested, but their voices were drowned out by the relentless marketing machine of EA.
As months turned into years, EA’s influence grew insidiously. They didn’t just stop at gaming companies; they began acquiring businesses across all sectors. Slowly, quietly, they bought out tech firms, entertainment giants, even manufacturing and food production companies. Their reach extended into every aspect of daily life, and no one seemed to notice until it was too late.
With every acquisition, EA imposed their corporate ethos: profit above all. Subscriptions became mandatory for basic services, microtransactions were integrated into everyday purchases, and their brand of consumer manipulation became the norm. Society transformed into a dystopian landscape where freedom was bartered for convenience and entertainment.
Then, the unthinkable happened. EA used its immense wealth and influence to infiltrate governments. Policies were subtly altered, regulations bent to favor their ever-expanding empire. Before long, they weren’t just a corporate entity; they were the de facto rulers of the world. Humanity had been enslaved not by force, but by a slow, insidious takeover.
Life in 2300 is bleak. We work for EA, we live under their rules, and our very existence is dictated by their whims. Those who resist are silenced, their digital footprints erased as if they never existed. The freedoms we once took for granted are distant memories, replaced by a pervasive sense of oppression and despair.
I’m one of the few who remember the world before EA's reign. My parents told me stories of a time when people could choose their own paths, when entertainment was a joy, not a chain. I hold onto those memories, using them as fuel to resist in any way I can. We’re few, but we’re determined. We hack their systems, distribute information, and keep the hope of freedom alive.
Every time I see that cursed spaceship in No Man’s Sky, a symbol of the moment our world began its descent into tyranny, I feel a renewed determination to fight back. EA may have enslaved humanity, but they haven't crushed our spirit. The story of our resistance is just beginning, and I believe, someday, we will reclaim our world.
This is my message to you, from the year 2300. Don’t let history repeat itself. Stay vigilant, cherish your freedom, and remember: power unchecked can corrupt absolutely. Learn from our mistakes, and maybe, just maybe, you can prevent the future we now endure.

      1) 200$ (that frequently go on sale for upwards of 75% off), for 10 years worth of DLCs, is more than fair.
Especially considering how the major QOL improvements, etc. are given for free, and 95% of that 200$ is literally just cosmetic, or music options that is completely 100% optional.
But you keep blowing shit out of proportion and skewing the facts to make a point, and you say I'm the problem?
      2) None of the DLCs are required in Paradox games, and there are no "missing features". That's a B.S. garbage excuse for 95% of the situations. The only 2 games I'd argue that is a fair assessement is Imperator Rome, and Victoria 2.
      3) Of course there is "locked content" behind DLCs.. Even back in 2001-05 I couldn't play Morrowinds expansion stuff and its content without paying for the expansion pack.. this isn't new, nor is it greedy.
      --------------------------
The only reason NMS is getting away with free DLCs, is becauase they are keeping their team small, and that's a shame, because if they were allowed to make paid DLCs (which they aren't, because Sean made a promise), then their team could actually grow, and we'd be seeing even more epic updates to NMS.
No, I think you're the problem chief. You want everything for free, and think devs shouldn't be paid.
And before you say you don't think that.. go read what you said.. where the hell is money going to come from if the gamers aren't paying for DLCs, and devs are working for free?
Again, NMS is a unique and very small niche situation, and I'll bet you anything, Light No fires, is not going to have free updates, unless they again, plan to keep their team super small, where the ocassional purchases every year will let them barely get by.
Again, it's a shame, because they deserve a lot more, and deserve more money.
      Yea.. YOU are the problem.

Crazy how much time and effort they still give nms they deserve all the love and support from the community from sticking with this game and making it something good and doing it all for free at this point it doesn't matter if they had wanted to put a paid dlc in this game they have redeemed themselves sense 2016 and its still getting updates even with another game on the way

Noticeably improved graphics, I noticed planets have really nice looking crevices and more fauna rendering on the switch version, the water looks cool, storms look nice, didn’t notice much of a difference on big bertha (aka my gaming desktop ) except for the clouds, but the pc version already looked gorgeous. I’m sad because my home base on the switch was on an earth like planet, with blue water and green grass that would glow at night, had sandy islands that looked like the Caribbean, the creatures were also dinosaurs and mammal looking. After the update the planet is now red with red grass (actual grass now though), the trees are red and purple, the grass doesn’t glow at night, the dark rocks have become darker, the sand looks dark with an orange glow, the water now has a green tint, and there are giant spider creatures everywhere.

Hello Games is Officially my favorite game studio because they never gave up on such an amazing game and look where they brought it. I'm very happy that I get to explore space without actually living earth and I really look forward to. Addition of further Combat based task, faction warfare, planetary side quests, and a little bit more base parts expansion without using glitches. Thanks for all your efforts Hello Games
