Welcome to ScreenCrush, I’m Ryan Arey. And these are all the easter eggs, references, and little things you might have missed in She-Hulk Attorney At Law, Episode 5.
So before we get into the Easter Eggs, I want to talk about the meaning of this episode. Cause on the surface, this is just a one-off about a copyright lawsuit. But the episode actually has a lot to say about Jennifer Walters, the fashion industry and how women are being marketed to by corporations.
The episode starts with Titania’s ad, promising that “Strength is beautiful.” Now Titania is marketing her own physical strength, as a superhuman influencer. And this “strength is beautiful” line is also how the men she dates respond to her.
Her date even says that Jennifer is not his type. And this push-pull between Jennifer and She-Hulk’s identities is the heart of the character, and this series.
But She-Hulk is just the embodiment of physical strength. Jennifer is the real strength, the inner strength. Jennifer is the one who went to law school, and has to struggle to make her life better. Whereas people love She-Hulk because of what she is, and you love Jennifer for who she is.
So, Titania is telling women they should be more like She-Hulk. You know, perfect hair, barbie doll body, all of that. But of course, a woman could never be She-Hulk, she’s got her cousin’s gamma blood. Just like no woman could ever look like the airbrushed model photos we see on fashion magazines.
It’s funny that The Good Place actress, Jameela Jamil, is playing Titania because in real life she has criticized both the fashion and cosmetic industries for their creation of unrealistic expectations for how a woman should look.
The fashion industry is built on creating need. You need to buy this product, because you are not good enough. Jennifer even points out how crappy these products are.
Titania is known as a famous influencer and is using that fame to push these products. This is a reflection of what is really happening in our society. There are influencers right now pushing She-Hulk themed makeup on TikTok. Why watch those when you could be checking out ScreenCrush’s TikTok?
By the way, I’m not saying that all beauty products are bad, or that wearing makeup is bad. Makeup is great, and people should wear whatever they want that makes them feel attractive and comfortable.
But, there are a lot of beauty products that just outright lie to the customers, and the big challenge for a lot of women is to find the best products that aren’t BS. Like moisturizer. Always use moisturizer, men and women. Trust me.
So, beauty companies try to make people feel like they’re not good enough-like you have to change your skin. Just like Jennifer literally changes her skin when she becomes She-Hulk. In fact, this whole series is about Jen learning to be comfortable in her own skin. Both the green skin of she-hulk, and her regular skin as Jen.
Titania is the perfect counterpoint to Jen, because she is obsessed with her outward facing image, and forgets who she is on the inside. She only wants superficial things, even from her relationships.
Whereas Jen’s willingness to embarrass herself-to show how awkward she actually is-shows true strength and confidence. She actually has to listen to testimony that says she is unattractive. And Mallory recognizes Jen’s inner strength.
Every superhero has a push/pull between their two identities. Peter Parker has to constantly make personal sacrifices to keep people safe; Tony Stark was addicted to being Iron Man at the cost of his relationships; and Steve Rogers chose duty over happiness for most of his career. - Кино

Long time user. Still going through my Stone brewing IPA bars. Cedar Citrus is one I was using before. Do have the master chief scrub. Which I can imagine is like pine tar. I do miss the old cedar citrus from my first try… could make a whole bathroom smell amazing.

We watch your reviews every week because your attention to details and references, but our favorite part is how you make the sponsor of the video integral part of the review with a lot of humor added in. The only other one we've seen is the @LegalEagle lawyer, but he leaves the tie-in for the end of his presentation.
@@aaronli7148 squash
Off to the side you can see the daredevil suit next to the helmet
I don't think Matt Murdock knows that the costume is yellow
LMAO!
😂😂😂
Ur not wrong
😭😭😭
Savage 😂😂
I think one of the difficulties with the CGI is that She-Hulk's face is basically Tatiana Maslany's face; very close to it. And since we all know what Masalany's face looks like (and how it moves when she talks), we get hit with the Uncanny Valley effect with very small divergences and movement errors. Whereas The Hulk's face is monstered up and isn't supposed to look just like Ruffalo's.
It's like when they do a CGI animal in a film -- like a bear, or a wolf. We know what those animals are supposed to look like, so they look fake really easily. A CGI bear is a lot harder than a CGI dragon.
Also, I'm sure they were time and budget constrained, on top of it being a hard task.
Here’s an Easter egg - how the Sasquatch soap spiel makes “chemicals” sound scary, creating the false need to use “natural” products. Very fitting for this episode!!
Me personally I want these episodes to be longer. She hulk is definitely in it’s on genre feels like reading the comic but; in modern time. Seeing daredevil's helmet at the ending of the episode was so awesome.
I absolutely agree with you! Hour long episodes would be amazing :D This show just gets better and better!!
the cgi team would off themselves working on 1 hour eps
I already knew Daredevil was getting his suit from the same place
His costume is literally there from the trailer
As soon as I saw the super hero suit it looked exactly like the suit in the trailer so I already knew either
Matt Murdock will walk in aswell or Matt Murdock will be seen in the post credit scene also walking to that place without him getting the suit
I think it's a good length, not the most compelling marvel show imo
Same here.
Pug is my favorite character now! 🤣 Slick Nick ain't bad either! This show is so corny and goofy but I think it's been written that way on purpose. Kinda like a fish out of water show. Once you realize this is a comedy and almost a parody or satire then I'll think you enjoy it more! It's ridiculous but that's the point!
Well said. I enjoy the show.
@@liamneedsome9837 me too. Ppl, in my opinion, forget how ridiculous comic books are and I'd like to see ppl like what it is and not what it isnt
@@dr.nottanownudder The comic books weren’t all great but the ones that were also had a storyline that worked and was saying something (which btw is compatible with humor). She Hulk isn’t terrible and I understand why someone would like it, i don’t find it unpleasant to watch, it has cool characters (except Titania) it’s different and the actors are pretty good (and there’s the cameo situation). But comparing it to the comics to say it’s good… nah.
@@Xlaeflicks that's not even what I did by saying that!😂 I was just saying the whole concept and worlds in comic books are ridiculous but ppl take the mcu so damn serious and are so sensitive if something happens they don't like.
@@dr.nottanownudder Also I like that the show doesn’t take itself seriously and all but it’s not a reason to take your main character and make her “throw herself under the bus” I quote, if it doesn’t come with any character development. They’re just mocking her at this point, in this episode only they basically said that she wasn’t pretty, that she was desperate for affection, that she couldn’t dress correctly and then they ended it by giving us Daredevil to remind everyone that if we are watching a show that’s promoting feminism with a strong female lead, it’s for a guy. My theory is that the people who wrote this hate women.
Purple and green weren't used just because they look good together. When comics first started being printed in color, the cheapest ink was primary and secondary colors. Since Captain America obviously had to be red, white, and blue, they started using the opposites to represent nefarious characters. That's why the red and blue Spider-man has so many green and purple archenemies; Lizard, Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Vulture, Electro, Scorpion, Sandman, Kingpin... After the transition to becoming Marvel and gaining enough recognition and money, they were able to branch out more. But the biggest characters were already known so well, so changing their whole design would have caused a serious drop in interest and sales. So instead they created a multiverse full of variants and clones to allow the artists more freedom while keeping the others the same.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing these. First time I learned about such details.
Well
Green and purple are colors of characters who are narcissistic, back stabbing you, not trustworthy, lying, somewhat evil, and wicked
But wasn't hulk originally grey?
Thanks Wikipedia dummy, we already knew this!
@@maxbennett6165 Yes
I love Screen Crush, but there's some irony between pointing out hiw Titania uses misleading marketing tools to sell products while also using the not legally protected title of "natural" which don't really mean anything and "chemicals" where pretty much everything is a chemical
I've made my peace with the CGI. And actually it's pretty good in some scenes like the date and the demon battle last episode. Also keep in mind that nobody's ever tried to do this on a TV series where you don't have $200 million and over a year and a half to work with. And just like Luke Skywalker improved dramatically between Mandalorian and Boba Fett, I'm sure She Hulk will look noticeably better in a second season because they'll be working hard on improvements
Me as well. I’m hoping it’s that trashy suit she has on, bc like you said the Demon scene looked decent, and the scenes with the Hulk looked ok too..overall good show just too damn short
I suspect a lot of it has to do with the suit, which (even in the show) they intentionally show off as not s'good. (Honestly though, if my suit fit that well, I'd be happy. But I'm not a CGI super hero of the hulk type.)
you dont really think that they give this a second season.
Charlie Cox said in an interview that the MCU version of Daredevil will be different than the previous on Netflix, he even added that the upcoming season will be something new and not a continuation of the Netflix's Daredevil (and I still hope that they'll bring back Jessica Jones too)
I saw that also
Jessica Jones is the most underrated thing in the last decade of marvel.
@@betteryou7hanme JJ and Daredevil were always my favorites in live action since their 1st season
@@ZrodyApo the first season of JJ was a banger. Everyone nailed their performance. David Tennant's purple man is one of the all time greatest marvel villains. Absolutely sinister.
@@betteryou7hanme jaw dropped by what he pulled off , David Tenant killed it
This episode reminded of the spider-man ultimate comics when kingpin trademarked spider-man's name.
Also the MCU is really building up daredevil, I'm hoping that he's going to have a big part in the MCU.
The actress who plays Mallory was in Ally McBeal which the creator has said was an inspiration for this show
I'm also surprised that nobody mentions the fact that during the Wrecking Crew introduction, only one member has their face covered. I'm guessing he's the same guy that she went on a date with and that's obsessed with She-Hulk's strength, calling her a "lovely specimen" 🤔
Edit: His name on the show is "Todd/Thunderball"
Hmmmm 🤔
@@johnwerner69 indeed! Lol
His name was hulk Todd before editing.
I think so too. They also sound like the same guy
that makes sense lol
these breakdowns are becoming more entertaining than the actual show now !!
I think the reason matt would get a new suit is because of all the bullseye stuff where he was killing people in the solid red suit. The gold being added may be the way he differentiates from bullseyes antics
Loving the weekly 'lawsuit of the week' format, hope it will be picked up for season 2 after it ends.
I'm interested in seeing more of Titania and I'm glad we're FINALLY getting Shulk into some new clothes, but the biggest compliment I can give the show is I want more. If the rest of the season was available I'd binge it all tonight.
Shulk? The Monado?
you're actually watching this crap
@@Shaboomquisa yeah bro what’s wrong with watching a show?
@@RodaMoonknight shh they’re feeling it, don’t ruin this
@@adamherrick6077 but it's Reyn time!
Thanks for always giving credit to others who point things out, that may have been missed by you guys at Screen Crush. I love you guys for that. Some of these other channels pretend like THEY found all the Easter eggs.
The clothing designer, Luke, reminded me a lot of Edna Mode from Pixar's The Incredibles (no pun intended).
The flip side of the Hulk is that Jen started out without an “other guy” and she is clearly developing one. Her personality when she is in her two forms are deviating behaviorally. Jen also appears to be developing resentments towards She-Hulk and She-Hulk seems to be slowly detaching from concerns about Jen’s emotional needs.
I don't think she is developing an alter just because she behaves differently (i.e. with more confidence) as She-Hulk. Bruce Banner has DID. Jennifer Walters does not.
Two things. This episode explains the "Avongers" mug She Hulk presents as evidence in the closing credits. The shoe Ryan says could be Jack of Hearts has a spade on it. The Ace of Spades is usually associated with Gambit, but the colors aren't right.
You missed the two threats by Titania in the Courtroom foreshadowing a future showdown. Also mentioning the Avongers mug in the credits although it has been there all along.
You can see how much fun Jameela has as titanic and the seeds of her hate towards Jen are planted looking forward to Matt's one episodes cameo.
Pug and Nikki are waaaaaay too much fun to watch together. I wasn't expecting that.
Ryan is always first to drop the breakdowns. Him and new rockstars are my go to channels for all the Easter eggs
I agree but Emergency Awesome actually always has the quickest breakdowns, JS! If you haven't checked him out definitely recommend him, not as good as the 2 you mentioned but still pretty up there!
@@theAmericanStoner emergency awesome always has clickbait thumbnails, takes way too long to get to the point, lacks humor an repeats himself way too much
what about heavy spoilers? he is always the first one I see every time
Heavy Spoilers made his breakdown video before Erik and Ryan.
Ryans the best the other dudes r kind of annoying imo
Not gonna lie, the image of the Iron Man 3's during the end credits was 🔥🔥!! I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a pair if I'm being honest 🤔
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the similarities to the reason the character SheHulk was create. They rushed the comic because they were afraid someone else would make female versions of their characters before Marvel could copyright them. That’s the reason SheHulk exist in the first place.
I loved Renée Elise Goldsberry's part in this episode so much. She is awesome
I don’t think that guy was a jerk at all. He seemed to have no idea who Jenn was untransformed. That’s not who he was interested in. He was honest, respectable and left.
🎯
plus he didn't demean her or insult her on the stand. Just answered honestly and said she wasn't his type.
I'd agree it would be like falling in love with spiderman without knowing Peter Parker.
It wouldn't make you a jerk. Just more in love with the superhero.
I mean, you spend some enjoyable time with a person and then you find out that by for whatever reason, they don't always look like you thought. It's not terribly bad to feel disappointed and leave, but I think it would be nicer to both you an the other people to find out whether they are still the human being you enjoyed some time with. It's not "rude", just... shallow?
Nitpick: In the opening 35 seconds you say the episode is about a "copyright" lawsuit. Copyright and trademark are two separate types of intellectual property. Trademark refers to brand names, looks of products. You can trademark words like "Coke".
Copyright is about the creation of a piece of art or media and how long before it passes into the "public domain" (when it's considered to be owned by the culture). You cannot copyright words. Only series of words (like a novel).
Titania could not copyright the term "She-Hulk". She can only put a trademark on it for making products. (As I am sure Disney did for that makeup.)
I remember when Paris Hilton tried to copyright the word "Hot" 😭😭😭
@@awashington8447 sigh. No she trademarked the phrase "that's hot" because it was as a catchphrase she used on TV. Again, not copyright.
I really liked the analysis of the show’s commentary on superficial strength vs inner strength
I legitimately didn’t think titania was being played by Jameela Jamil. They did a wonderful job in makeup and Jamil is killing it bring the character to life
Can we all agree that Jameela Jamil has been fantastic as Titania.
The new accent takes some adjustment, but love JJ.
She makes a beautiful face so punchable, that's dedication to the art.
What did you think of the episode?
I LOVED this one!
SO CLOSE to being an all out action show like Marvel do!
Getting pretty desperate for views on the she hulk videos with that thumbnail
@@louisdurnell9683 I honestly don't think too many people are catching on to what's really happening. They totally set up the Thunderbolts movie, also a World War Hulk project. Blonsky is totally lying to everybody. There was a reason why he didn't take Wong's offer for asylum at Kamer-Taj. The Fantastic Four is evidently already in the MCU before the events of Spider-Man Far from Home and Shang Chi. So is Wolverine. The show occurs in the summertime of 2024, several months before the events of Spider-Man No Way Home, which occurs early November 2024. In the summer of July 2025 the events of Moon Knight occur around the same time as the BEGINNING of Gorr the godbutcher's activity, when the gods in Moon Knight didn't know yet WHY some of the gods were disappearing. She-Hulk seems to be the beginning of a lot of things that will go on THROUGH the following year. They even make it in last night's episode look like they're legally working out her being in the next Avengers movie. I don't think a lot of people are catching on to all the stuff they're telling us every week.
@@likeluptid Yeah I really don’t care. The MCU is directionless sludge rn pumped out by a greedy corporation that haven’t caught onto the fact the majority strongly dislike their shows. They can hint all the crossovers they want, but the shows and movies are making fractions of that 2018 avengers money. I’ll honestly be amazed if we reached the fabled faze 6. People have lost interest, and the terrible writing isn’t helping
Jameela Jamil playing the crap-hawking Titania is so perfect. Jamil’s rants on Instagram are epic.
I think these qr codes scanning strategy actually helps casual fans more on knowing the characters.
Awesome review as always. The high five moment with Doug was hilarious LOL!
Your dog is the greatest! Your commentaries are hands down the best on the webs, but your dog vaults them over the top! My pets talk too. But they all call me Papa, not Human. But I love that your dog calls you Human.
Glad to see that someone else has noticed that the CGI isn’t quite there yet.
I literally was looking for this video in the channel, great timing and great episode
I'm loving this show. I get the same feeling watching the episodes as I used to get from reading the comics. Which is what I'd hoped for!
By the second sniff at 2:42 i knew it was gonna be a Doctor Squatch ad
And i love it 👍
Hawkguy is likely a reference to Matt Fraction's run. That's what the Tracksuit Mafia pretty much exclusively called clint.
Not sure about the Tracksuit Mafia but it's what Grills called him.
Another great breakdown, I never realise how much I miss till i see these. Another good SHE-HULK episode
I hope the next ones are longer too, the writers & everything are nailing it.
Imho the best episode so far. Past ones seem to be all over the place. Suuuper excited for our guy Matt to show
My wife and I were on a vacation for 2 weeks, so we've been catching up on all of our shows. When Doug started to say something smelled good, I looked at my wife and said OMG DR SQUATCH. And I can't believe it. This is awesome. I've been a LONG time Squatch Nation member, so I can't use your code, but it's still awesome to see this!
Out of curiosity, are the “your mom” Easter eggs you point out included in the number on your thumbnails?
I agree with your assessment. I saw an interview where Jessica Gao (head writer) said that she treated the entirety of this season as She-Hulk's origin story, which makes sense 🤔
She’s a pretty bad writer though cuz the show could’ve been more. I’m a hulk fan and this is the most boring show out of all marvel shows. I literally only watch for the cameos now cuz the last 3 episodes have been bad.
I was thinking that Jameela was the PERFECT person for this role.. and probably loved the opportunity to send up the fashion industry
Ahhhhh wonderful! Been waiting for this *gleefully rubs hands together*
The Daredevil music sounds like the opening credits of the Netflix show!
I love this! Thanks for the great content 😎
I was waiting for this one‼️
as soon as I finish an episode I diligently await your videos.
When Luke yells at someone about client confidentiality with the Daredevil mask, he refers to "Kingsley". In the Amazing Spider-Man comics, Roderick Kingsley was a shady fashion designer who became the original Hobgoblin!
If we take Jen's boss drinking booty smoothie booty check as cannon, then we take shoes on the shoe shelf as cannon, too. I think Deadpool is a comic character and can step through into any universe where he exists on page. And he will bring in x people and other heroes into the 616 to help win Battleword.
Cannot believe you referenced the Atlantis Attacks What If!!! The best comic! It's soooo good
YOU PLAYED THE SPACE BALLS CLIP!!!! omg i requested this a few months ago, maybe just a coincidence but i feel like Ryan just gave me a hug 🙃
Love this episode so much! Jennifer have a great character development this eps.
Strength is beautiful means something much different than strength is beauty, the phrase actually used in the show.
The cgi isnt incomplete, its just women have smoother skin not like the rugged lines that men have guy lol plus yall gotta let the netflix stuff go, actually the guy who makes the suits acts more like the lady from incredibles who makes their suits! He has the same sassy attitude!😂
Wow, that sponsor piece is great. "Hey, cosmetics is an iffy industry. People always trying to sell it. Now here we have this cosmetic that I am trying to help sell"
You are top shelf! U and Doug are f****** amazing!!!!!! Me and my cat watch every episode of Screen Crush.. Awesome! Don't let doug retire. He isn't old enough to have had time to built up his social security.
I would say that the x-men is happening in the MCU in a sort. Since they did include the wolverine bar fight in one of the news articles. Then its just how much of an impact and what x-men timeline they are going with in the MCU
I'm glad you mentioned the CGI, that was bothering me a bit, and I wondered if anyone else recognized it.. Keep on Keepin' on
ANOTHER GREAT BREAKDOWN RYAN AREY ALSO DOUG IS HILARIOUS 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Don't retire Doug!!!
7:53 aww cute!!
What's weird about that armor that you said "belonged to our mom", the profile view shows the six-pack but over an extended belly. A weird contrast.
So that reminds me - when Kingpin first showed up in Hawkeye, they were playing a theme that was really similar to 'Trading Judgements' from season 3.
yo Dr. Squatch is the best
The best intros to adds ever
The hi-five was cute. I hope you shoot a lot of b-roll of your dog, so he'll be on the show forever! 😍🐶
This show has gotten funnier each week. Jameela Jamil is hilarious as Titania.
2:18 "You have no shame." LMAO
Thank god i have you for this show, I don’t think I’d ever make it through this
I like your breakdown of this episode
How is Dr. Squatch not also snake oil?
No snakes in it?
@@davewhitmore1958 Snakes are technically natural.
Snake oil is a term used to stuff that doesn't do what it's advertised to do.

Doug has no f****n chill 🤣
She's driving down Sunset Blvd when she sees the Titania billboard. You can tell because it's right by the sign for Chateau Marmont (famous for where John Belushi died, among other things)
If cyclops is confirms that it won't be long for cable episodes 5 was short with no post credit scene so hopefully the next is spectacular.
I would say this show gets better each week!
Definitely
Probably last minute tweeks after all the hate but yes
I've been pleasantly surprised to be into this show. The last few MCU shows were good enough, but I felt obliged to watch each knew episode whereas I'm excited to watch this show each week.
Agreed, Hawkeye was decent especially when they brought Fisk into it, and Falcon and Winter Soldier was just an absolute chore to slug through. This show is fun and quirky so it's fun and quirky to watch.
Werewolf by Night breakdown soon hopefully!
Missed that the Hawkguy reference is probably a reference to what Grills calls Hawkeye in the Matt Fraction run.
8:59 That's knock-off Hulk in a Mankini!
Also, I wonder if Disney have trademarked 'Avongers' and 'Avingers' just in case ...
Omg lol the Dr. Squash commercial in the middle of this missing the irony 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It never connected to me that it's court room drawings! I just thought comics, but of course! That is really cool! Love how that effect of it being drawn is being done, looks freaking beautiful.
Incredible ad integration man. I might actually buy that soap
She-Hulk is getting a lotta online crap but I'm thoroughly enjoying this show. And it got my wife and daughter interested. So I'm glad we can watch it all together
I love the show so far. I can’t wait to see Murdock.
17:08 bravo Ryan bravo I can’t believe you got them all. How much zooming did you have to do and image fixing? Great job

1000% agree. Scarlett Spider
Did anyone else notice the shield symbol on the folder next to the water painting of the guy She Hulk smashed at the end? Undercover shield agent? I’m calling it!
3:23 Ironic that the one non-natural ingredient is 'Titanium' Dioxide 🤣🤣
The most unbelievable thing about the show is how fast they are able to get in front of a judge. Followed by Titania breaking through a wall and almost killing a jury and not only getting off scott free she still has fans. Well, the still having fans part is unfortunately believable, people are stupid.
Unfortunately, that's not too far off from reality, ESPECIALLY in regards to celebrities.....
OMG I loved Dakota North. I wish they had more stories for her. Its one of the few comic books I kept.
