Alright well, Welcome to ScreenCrush, I’m Colton Ogburn filling in for Ryan Arey.
These are all the easter eggs, references, and little things you might have missed in She-Hulk Episode 6, Just Jen.
We open with Jen getting invited to be a bridesmaids at an old friend's wedding. And when this box explodes with confetti startling Jen we are reminded of the fact that Jen has full control of her Hulk.
When packing for the wedding we hear Nikki mention that Jen doesn't need to bring a Luke Jacobson business suit to the wedding. Luke Jacobson being this character from the previous episode.
Jacobson is based on Luke Jacobson from the comics who is also a fashion mogul.
Nikki then says that she wants to see the supersuit Luke made her. Confirming that the extra piece he handed Jen to try on last episode was indeed her super suit we’ve seen from the trailers.
Jen at this point is still convinced that she will never be in a situation where she needs to don a superhero costume.
Jen breaks the 4th wall to let us know that yes this is a self contained wedding episode. And that while it may seem inconvenient for this point in the season, we’re right, because weddings are always inconvenient.
So Jen is very aware of the fact that we were all hoping for a Daredevil episode following that stinger at the end of last week's episode.
The opening title has been changed for this episode from She-Hulk Attorney at Law to “Just Jen” Attorney At Law. Just like we’ve seen it change before to She-Hulk Attorney for Hire in episode 2 and She-Hulk by Titania in episode 5.
We hear Lulu mention the names Jackson, Sam, Greg, and Mark as her fiance, Adam’s, and groomsmen. These could be fun references to other Marvel characters who share the same names. Such as Jackson Norris, AKA, Nighthawk who first appeared in Incredible Hulk #126 in 1970.
“Sam” could be a reference to Samuel Sterns, AKA, The Leader. The Leader was teased in 2008’s Incredible Hulk and he is now returning over 10 years later in Captain America 4: New World Order. Alongside another Sam in Sam Wilson’s Captain America, formerly the Falcon.
With the plot thickening this episode regarding the quest for Jen’s blood and the final scene in the laboratory. We think it’s likely that The Leader may show up in this series prior to Captain America 4.
“Mark” could be a reference to Mark Ruffalo who of course plays Jen’s cousin Bruce Banner, AKA, the Hulk.
Back at the offices of GLK&H we see Mallory and Nikki working with Craig Hollis, AKA, Mr. Immortal.
Mr. Immortal is an actual character from the comics whose superpower is immortality. In the comics he discovered he had this power by attempting to kill himself multiple times.
He first appeared in West Coast Avengers Vol. 2 #46 in 1989. He later went on to become the founding member of the “Great Lakes Avengers.” The team later found themselves in legal trouble for using the name “Avengers” and were sent a cease and desist meaning they could no longer use the name.
Back at the wedding we get what at first sounds like a sweet scene between Jen and Lulu where Lulu asks Jen what she’s been up to. Jen gives a very happy update of her life about her new job heading up her own divisions as a very prestigious law firm as well as her new found superpowers.
Apparently all Lulu cared about was whether or not Jen had a man in her life. Instead of caring about all of the incredible things Jen is doing on her own as a successful independent woman.
This stays true to the theme of the show showcasing the struggles women go through on a daily basis. The nonsense women have to put up with from obnoxious men and even other women. People who are obsessed with material things and outdated social norms. People who refuse to open their eyes to all the great possibilities life has to offer.
And then we get a flashback to 2009 when we hear Lulu get asked by her friends if she’s team Edward or Jacob. A reference to the Twilight films, specifically New Moon. Fans divided themselves into team Edward or team Jacob dependent upon who they wanted Bella to end up with. - Кино
What was your favorite Marvel reference on this week’s episode?
Your mom
Cringe af
Ok boomer
@@Lamiishere Your whole channel cringe af.
The reference to iron man when Jen was told to iron shirts at the wedding
Mr. Immortal is played by the same actor who played the Twilek secretary in Book of Boba Fett
That is him! Great catch.
He is Stu the Meat Man.
Ah, I though I recognized that voice
Also, the ex of Selina Meyer on Veep.
Thank you, saved me a trip to IMDB. Knew I knew him from somewhere
Missed easter egg: When Mallory and Nikki encounter the "members only" message, it plays the same "ah ah ah" sound effect that Arnold (aka Samuel L Jackson aka Nick Fury) hears when attempting to log onto Nedry's computer in Jurassic Park.
I was going to mention this also! RIP Dennis.
I wondered if I was the only one to hear that and came here expecting it to be on the video.
When Lulu asks Jen if she has a boyfriend, I felt she was doing that to humiliate her after she upstaged her as SheHulk. She just wanted to hear Jen say she didn't have a boyfriend
Same. After she listed all the good stuff she was totally uninterested and just wanted to get to something sad like her dating, which she probably heard about with the Titania trial.
Definitely to humiliate her....
That part was hilarious 😂😂😂😂
I wish the episodes were longer. It feels like things never get off the ground
Exaclty my thoughts, I felt like the sixth episode was just a waste of my time.
I feel like we get something solid but the runtime just needs a bit more to really shine
The credits is nearly 1/3rd of the run-time - it's a little bit extessive
It's a comedy series, those rarely get episodes longer than 30 minutes
really? i don't get that from the episodes at all. what are you expecting?
SHOULD HAVE GAVE DOUG HIS OWN EPISODE!! He could have handled it! ❤
Yeah but it would've been annoying as fuck
@@zekrom916 dont disrespect Doug. He's small!
Doug could, but I bet his VA would pass out halfway through.
Yeah, but in the real world it would have sucked for Ryan who's supposed to be on vacation.
@@zekrom916 yeah when he said "Ryans gone" i thought it would be that voice for a whole video im like "nooooooppppeeee"
Mr immortal being the mutant should be one of the big takeaway from this episodes especially as he noted that he's been around for quite a few years.
EXACTLY. So many reviewers missed this big fact
Is he a mutant? I thought he wasn’t
@@waverider6302 He's not in comic canon. He's the first person in the final step of human evolution called "Homo Supreme".
It's so stupid of them to reveal mutents in this and the underwhelming mess Ms Marvel.
It's the biggest deal for MCU and it's treated as some small easter egg.
@@akshaybelkhede calm down, they are just giving hints that mutants are coming. Just need to be patient
"Welcome to ScreenCrush: my name is Doug" = AMAZING
I think the groomsmen's and guests' names are more coincident than anything. With as many characters as there are in Marvel comics, you can find just about any name.
When Nicki was driving and leaving a voice mail, I was sure she was going to get into a car accident.
1st thing I was thinking, a car was going to hit her on purpose
They’re doing a good job with the false trails. Right now I’ve got my eye on Josh, that skeeze ball date guy, AND Mallory.
I thought for sure a car or big truck would come into frame (like a jump scare) and T-bone her
@@2tonekevin Josh looks sus af besides that skeeze ball date guy.
Blonsky was originally held by SHIELD, so if Jen was working on Blonsky's case it would make sense for her to dig up old SHIELD files. I don't think there's any more than that on the SHIELD side
Doug's solo episode needs to happen!!
I think the file with the Shield logo on it is some of the stuff she got during the Blonsky case.
I want Shield to make a comeback 🤔
i agree! especially considering it's been there since episode 1, i don't think it's of any consequence
@@MissKittieMo exactly. That has been around the whole time. Odd it would be mentioned at this point in these videos.
I would kill to have an entire video hosted by Doug. Give me what I need!
I find it interesting that Jennifer called out the fact that Titania is obsessed with her, and she's absolutely right. 1) She sees her as a worthy adversary in regards to her strength 2) She's secretly jealous of her because She-Hulk can do things that Titania can't - control her anger and be lovable just the way she is whereas Titania needs to wear flashy clothes and makeup, as well as fake teeth lol
However, on the other hand, Titania feels threatened by She-Hulk for all the same reasons. This is why Titania constantly feels the need to attack her; trying to take the She-Hulk moniker and punching her in full view of people at the reception.....she needs to constantly try to show everyone that she's better than She-Hulk. Pride and Insecurity is a dangerous mix 🧐
That’s the point of the whole show. We know.
It was a Mean Girls reference.
9:13 That line refers to the fact that this wedding was scheduled on Wednesday and Thursday, while it's more convenient to have them on Fridays and weekends. Jen mentions this while she packs at the beginning of the episode.
It was originally slated for Wednesday but Disney didn't want it to complete with Star Wars shows, so it was moved to Thursday 🧐
@@agrey832 Right, but there was a joke about the wedding being on a Wednesday and Thursday normally when weddings are weekend affairs.
I dunno, it seems like a long way for a joke. But whatevs.
@@TheCloveart you’re one of those manbabies huh?
@@jajaja9661 Yes, but I don’t hate women. I have no issues going on dates and meeting women.
@@agrey832 I was wondering why new She-Hulk episodes are released on Thursday’s when traditionally all new Disney + shows drop on Wednesdays. When Marvel first revealed the release date for She-Hulk, they announced that it would come out on a Wednesday only to be changed at the last minute to Thursday. So thank you for the info. Now I know why they changed it.👍🏻😎
I'm surprised you didn't bring up the part where Nikki called Jen "Shulkie"
That's a reference to the comics where Hawkeye called She-Hulk "Shulkie" to mess with her 🧐
Colton was too busy SJWing to deliver a good Screencrush video.
It suck that Doug didn't get his own episodes he did great as host.
The Weekend/Wednesday-Thursday reference was because the wedding itself took place on a Thursday, but they got there on the Wednesday before for the rehearsal dinner and setup.
I WANNA SEE MORE OF DOUG!!!
^.^ Doug's a big boy now. He's so adorable. You can do it dooouuug!!
I still think that they should've kept daredevil as a secret. People has been waiting for him to show up more than anything.
It's very much a "not without my anus" situation. The thing is the South Park guys actually accepted the criticism for messing with the fans. I can't see these writers outside of their echo chambers.
Hmmm... not me. Couldn't care less about Daredevil showing up or not. Enjoying the show as is.
Well if they did keep him a secret the viewership of this show would be record breaking bad. But I do get what ur sayin and I do agree w you. But they knew that a top-tier beloved character would get people to watch a piece of garbage show week after week waiting for him.
@@Depsty then don't watch, wait for the episode he shows up and watch that episode only...
@@mvinicius_rs I’m not, I watched episodes 1-3 realized marvel has destroyed itself and now I tear up listening to these episode breakdowns because it’s so painful
The SHIELD logo has been in the credits since the beginning, I assumed it was leftover stuff she needed to work her cases.
Baroness Cromwell could be lady Cromwell from the comics who was a vampire.
🤔
Could that be how he became Immortal (in the MCU, not in the Comics)
It's Morbin' tiime?
No?
Aw, $#&%.....
I also really liked the graphic in the credits of Titania getting dental surgery for the chipped tooth she received from her fight with She Hulk at the wedding.
Those end credits drawings are always on point 🔥🔥
I literally chipped my tooth the day before the episode so I can relate really heavy. Shit sucks a bunch I became so self conscious this past week, finally got it fixed but it’ll never be the same😢
Something I noticed in the credits court drawings was DJ Ched kissing Lulu the bride in the photo booth pictures.
She hulk didn't broke titania teeth but the floor did.
When Nikki and Mallory try to log in to Intelligencia website the “ah ah ah” error sound is from Jurassic Park (Samuel L Jackson’s character tries to log in to Dennis’s computer and fails)
Mr. Immortal should have gone with “Great Lakes Avongers”
That would have been great!!
Avingers.
I think the “most fun on a Wednesday/Thursday” line was a call back to how annoying weekday weddings are. Maybe the day of the week that the show is released but definitely poking fun at weekday weddings.
Keep in mind that the Sterns communicated with Banner through private instant message in the 2008 movie. I was reminded of that by the pm at the end of the episode.
Malory Books is such underappreciated character. She's everything I want to be.
The reference to the weekend/Wednesday - Thursday is because she says earlier 'Who holds their wedding on a Thursday?'
Doug, please please fill in for Ryan. We all beleive in you and your abilities for being able to handle your own episode.
You may be small and cute and oh so fluffy 😍 *insert Agnes voice from Despicable Me to "so FLUFFY"* but you are a descendent of a wolf. You got this, buddy! Xox
Re-watched the first episode to introduce my wife to the series, and the end credits image of Jen with the document folders with the SHIELD logo was in there.
In the credits, was that the wedding DJ kissing the bride to be?
No matter how much hate this gets, I still love the lighter tone yet it still has these dark moments that remind us how serious shit can get
I feel like this dude is Mansplaining SheHulk to me. I hope Ryan has a wonderful vacation, but I miss him.
The crying for daredevil in the middle of this episodes I think everyone can relate 😩😭😂
Baroness Cromwell was also known as Baroness Blood! Could be a Blade reference
Is this Morbin time?
No?
&%$#......
Yah how did they miss that theres literally a Marvel character named Baroness Cromwell?
This show cracks me up. As soon as she broke the wall about the wedding I knew no Daredevil. Trolled in the funniest way. Loved it.
Doug + out of left field “your mom” jokes are two of the main things that make your recaps and breakdowns the best of the folks I’m sub’d to 😍
Baroness Cromwell is probably a reference to Baroness Blood (who could, conceivably show up in Blade, but is probably just an Easter egg).
So when Paul Rudd said "Jonathan", he was actually referring to Lulu's husband
The name "Heather" could be a reference to Heather Douglas, AKA Moondragon, "Lulu" could be a reference to Lulu Carter, and the use of the word "the" could reference The Avengers
aww I wish Doug could have done this video I'm sure he would of pulled off something awesome 👍🥰🤗
You were crushing it, Doug! I was devastated when you handed over hosting duties 🥴
Doug needs his own channel
Doug! 🥰 Never be nervous you're fantastic and an excellent host! 🤟🏾❤️🥂
I think the shoe in last weeks post credit scene was a reference to Gambit, not Jack of Hearts
I'm impressed! You nailed it. You are one of the the first youtuber channels I go to for MCU content. And hold up, you noticed the two shield logos in the animated credits.
Also, thanks for not being sexist or toxic. Your voice absolutely clues people in to how you feel about that kind of stuff. I'm sure you know why I'm relieved, you've seen the poison troll haters just spewing crud everywhere.
I wonder if Hulk was fooled by the Leader and he is not headed for Sakaar
Great reaction - good work Doug & Colton!
Thank you!
Theory:
Mallory says she has been happily married for 11yrs putting her in the ballpark of being married to Samuel Sterns. I found it weird that Todd was by her in the lawyers office especially if other theories are true about him being the masked guy who tried to get Jen’s blood. In the comics Mallory works for a shady group of people trying to recreate She-Hulk so it wouldn’t be much of a stretch for her, Todd, Josh, even Titania to all be related to The Leader who is obsessed with Hulk blood. People covertly inserting themselves into Jen’s life finding the cracks, like using a vibranium needle.
In the comics, the Leader was also obsessed with figuring out how to match his strength with his intelligence 🤔
kudos to the guy filling in, but tbh, I'd rather wait for Ryan's return from vacation for an episode breakdown than listen to a guest host. Doug is the only acceptable replacement, obviously. ;)
Loving the content as always!
the content of this channel gets better and better every video
OMG!!! Doug you did a great job. I’m sooooo proud of you. Host more often. Hugz
Doug was great. Colton was an insufferable mansplainer. I'd rather wait for Ryan to return to get the Screencrush breakdown than have Colton guest host again.
Wow wow wow …….. wow , there were she real stretches with some of those ‘possible’ name connections this episode !
I am surprised that you didn't mention that the bullseye over She-Hulk on the website! I thought that was a reference to Bullseye! I only thought that because we know Daredevil is coming.
I would totally watch Doug review and breakdown dog movies
Great delivery Colton Ogburn. Thank you.
And more Doug please.
The whole wedding was a set up, they wanted her to Hulk out so that they could get a reason to frame her as a villain, they asked her not to Hulk out, kept giving her embarrassing assignments, had her cousin DJ and made sure Titania was there. Things didn't go to plan when she did Hulk out because Titania took herself out. The Bride feeling fear and remorse chose to be happy essentially the Leader or Modok or whomever is leading the Intelligence website put together a psych profile and used it to try and get publicity that would hurt Jen.
That's a compelling argument, I'll say that 🤔
You know what, you might be on to something. Your theory definitely fits in with how the episode played out and it makes a lot of sense. We’ll just have to wait and see how the events from the Wedding influences how everything plays out in the next episode.
@@archangel5627 Cameron Hodges told me everything
Your theory definitely makes sense since all of this was a set up from the beginning. It's either the Leader or Modok pull the strings
Mr. Immortal was also an Easter Egg. Dan Scott wrote a series of limited series and one shots featuring the GLA/X and reclassified him as a type of mutant
Great episode and I love the foresight of the writers knowing that trolls are gonna troll no matter what. Kinda of tired of hearing about how much ppl hate this show. Just stop watching and when the DD cameo happens comeback, fastfoward to his part and then leave again! Probably gonna have to spend all week telling trolls IDGAF about their opinion but 🤷♂️
Seriously. It’s about She Hulk. I’m really enjoying getting to know her but i guess so many of the fans just care about Daredevil. The childish inpatients of so-called fans is really becoming annoying now
This new brudda is talking spicy 🌶
Thanks for filling in! Enjoyed it.
Thank you!
Little upset Doug didn't do the episode by himself
He is so small, tho.
Josh is listed in the credits as Josh Miller, so maybe not the Hatemonger. Oddly enough I noticed the shield logo too not sure if it's been there the whole time but it might not necessarily mean anything other than that she might have to deal with something Avengers related seeing as most of the things in the end credits aren't always literal connections to actual MCU things.
It's been there since the first episode lol But I do find it interesting that's it's there in plain sight 🤔
It could be an old file. It's not like they rebranded file jackets after SHIELD was exposed.
The Jonathan reference feels like a nod to John Jameson, who Jen dated in the comics and was also able to turn into Man Wolf, a white dog man.
Thanks Colton for stepping up!
Thank you for having me!
@@TheTotalRecap Just one suggestion: Could you give us like eight sentences or so about who the Intelligencia were in the comics, who they usually worked against and what their role typically is or was? If I remember correctly, the Leader and M.O.D.O.K. are on the Intelligencia, right?
I was hoping for daredevil 😢
Let’s hope he’s there for the next episode
@Whofan 998 That’s just sad.
Thank you Colton for covering :D
Thank you for having me!
Great dude! Great covering Ryan!!!!
I think it would be absolutely amazing and unexpected if say ... Daisy Johnson popped up in the end of the series, after the credits. Jen looks at the camera and says "Well, I bet you didn't see that one coming now did you?"
Sonic waves is a hulk weakness so I bet daisy Johnson can take out a hulk
I hope Quake and Coulson return soon. It would also be great to see Agent May return too 🤔
Coulson gets sued for flying his car above his neighbours house
Love me and Daisy 😋
Given that Titania is dating other guys, I can only guess that she has not met Absorbing Man yet.
To bad Agents of Shield
Is said by Feige not to be in the shared MCU
because Absorbing Man made a few episodes there
Maybe season 2 😆
That was so refreshing!
I was 1 of ur 1st subs COLTON AND UR GIRL FRIEND...KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
❤
I really appreciate how layered Titania is in this show. She's secretly driven by opposing yet equally powerful internal forces. One, she secretly *Admires* Jennifer Walters because she doesn't have to present a false persona or wear flashy clothes for people to love her. On the other hand, she feels *Jealous* of She-Hulk because up until episode 1, she was famous for being a super strong social media influencer, in essence, she cornered the market in that regard., Now, with She-Hulk in the picture, she's worried she'll steal her thunder so to speak. Furthermore, another layer is because she feels *Threatened* by She-Hulk, she's determined to prove to everyone that she's stronger than her. Titania's entire identity is tied to her strength and celebrity, while She-Hulk is a famous lawyer that happens to be a Hulk; take the Hulk aspect away and she's still a high profile lawyer, and Titania resents Jennifer for that very reason 🤔
You're watching a different show than me. She's toxic, a hypocrite
and generally a pretty awful person.
on the one hand, im thinking 'umm, Titania is an obvious reflection of how the fake influencers that smash themselves across media have permeated modern culture detrimentally, so an aspiration to becoming an ideal is unrealistically wanted by too many', on the other, im pondering 'yeah, she's bullshitting everyone, has millions in her wallet already, and has been a dik throughout. So fk you attempting to NOT get Titania cancelled! 😋🤣
Great points, another layer is how even the actress who plays Lulu who is Trans asks Jenn about her personal life as an accomplishment over her professional life.
@@human_behavior23 Agreed. The overall theme of the series is about identity; how the *World* sees you, and how you view *Yourself* 🤔
Titania is the prototypical mean girl.
Josh is probably a plant to keep Jennifer in her human form, rather than her She-Hulk form, so that they can get her blood. Though... that wouldn't necessitate the larger needle, unless that was just a backup in case things went wrong?
That's a really good point. Also, Titania might be strong enough to pierce her skin too, so I guess we'll see 🤔
You are correct sir! As we can see Bruce did bleed from his cut from a car crash so they do indeed bleed in human form if they don’t hulk out. My theory is maybe they just assume stabbing her will cause her to hulk out so they got the huge vibranium tip to insure it stays in her while she transforms.
nice to meet you, great job !
This guys voice is soooooo calming!!! Lol
So do we know when Ryan's going to be back
I love how this show keeps gaslighting all its online haters 😂😂
They absolutely predicted how the incels were going to react to the show and doubled down to make them look even more like idiots.
Less gaslight and more trolling/calling them out. It is fun to see though.
You did a great job today Doug
GREAT as always! Doug, next time try it on you own! We love you and will cheer you on :)
At least Colton can pronounce Titania correctly...
it’s pronounced different ways. ryan and colton are pronouncing correctly. colton just pronounces it according to she-hulk canon.
I kinda wanted more of Titania's backstory. There was a hint of something there, maybe they're going to pay it off later. They have to be building to something, it's not like Marvel will hype something up with little to no payoff. They never do that...
/s
i just want an explanation for those incredibly horrid wigs & the crime of parting the fringe like that...
Excellent job Colton
Thank you!
10:07 -- That picture on the website looks like it's from the first episode of "Orphan Black", which starred Tatiana Maslany.
the picture in front of the subway? Ohhh yeah!
Nice catch!!
The intelligencia is going to see She-Hulk via social media kicking Titania's ass resulting in messed up teeth. The intelligencia could offer Titania some kind of deal, if she is able to poke Jen with the new Vibranium needle to extract her blood. It's going to be Titania that sets off the new world order with the ne secret Super Soldier Hulk Serum made from Jen's blood. 😎
Truly nothing funnier than Jessica Gao predicting exactly how the trash of the internet would respond months before the show aired lol. Chef’s kiss
Omg i love Doug 💖
This best part aboit she hulk is the credits
Another thing I picked up on, Titania can't control her anger, which is the direct opposite to Jen Walters. Typically, writers make the antagonist either the direct opposite of the Hero, or a more extreme version. Jennifer Walters goes out of her way to avoid publicity while Titania embraces it, and she's also defined by it 🤔
I was concerned after the teaser trailer, but I actually enjoyed this episode. A lot better than episode 5. I'm glad things are *FINALLY* getting serious 🤔
The episode still kinda sucked lol.
Really? It was like 2 minutes of seriousness
It’s a comedy
Episode 5 was better, I cant lie this episode was weak for me
I feel like the show has gotten less interesting with each episode. There is almost no conflict and the little there is gets salved immediately and laugh off with unfunny comedy?
Awesome video, Brother!!! Well, I missed at least... 94% of the Easter Eggs in this episode alone. Good thing I love this channel. Stay amazing, My Dude.
Thank you!
Doug is adorable.
I love how crazy this shows getting!
What is getting crazy…?
Tell me whats crazy ? A women who fck and get drunk ? Wooooooow so crazy !!!!
@@Bceltic43 Just very different than what I'd expect from the MCU... and also just kind of chaotic in a good comedy/sitcom way 😉
I loved the team up with Nikki and Mallory this episode. And I appreciate Colton calling out some of the really vile behavior that happens in men-dominated online forums, which the show is also trying highlight.
Its a bit man-splainy for a guy to be the one doing it, though.
I think it's interesting because of what could possibly come out of it.....In the comics Mallory and Jen Walters were rivals. So, what if Jen and Mallory end up fighting over Nikki? 🤔
@@CantankerousDave doesn't make it any less true 🧐
Colton did great.. didnt have the Ryan tempo, but covered it well & like the fact ryan can get some personal time off.. those who dont know "content creators" work more than 60hr's a week filming and editing video's what takes us 15mins to watch takes them 2+hrs to create... Great job.
Thanks Ryan!
I love how Titania says “This is not over, hater.” Even though she is the hater because she sued Jen for the name.
