I show you where the directions are to descale your coffee maker.
Keurig has changed the way you descale your coffee maker. You have to put the machine in descale mode and follow it all the way through to get the descale light to go out.
Step by step instructions see below. You have to follow them all the way through.
1. Put the descale solution in the tank. Leave the machine plugged in, then turn the power button off. Press and hold the 8oz and 12oz button for 3 seconds till the big K brew button starts flashing. This puts it into descale mode.
2. K button light is only light on. The power button does not light up. Press the K button and it will run 12 oz through the machine. Keep pressing the K button till the add water light comes on.
3. Put fresh water in the reservoir and the add water light will go out and the K button will start flashing again.
4. Press the K button to start the machine again this time it will be rinsing the machine at 12oz each time you press the button. Keep pressing the K button till the add water light comes on again.
5. Once you fill it up with water again it will come out of descale mode and now you are ready to use it again. Turn it on and the descale light should be out. Let me know how it goes. YOU GOT THIS!!!!

This is my second Keurig Coffee Brewer. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first one lasted 6 years. It worked beautifully until the day it didn't. It was hard to go back to the drip coffee for a couple of days while I waited on my Keurig to get here. There is a huge difference in the taste. Keurig makes a really good cup of coffee. This new one is a little different from my old one. I find putting the water filter in was easier than on the old one. Attaching the water reservoir was also a little different but once I figured it out, it too was easier. This new one has the auto off feature but is not programmable like the old one. Only three cup sizes instead of four. The odd thing for me was how much lighter in weight this one is compared to my old one. More plastic and much less metal in the construction of this one. The price is so much less than the original Keurig that I bought and the coffee tastes the same so all in all I am satisfied.
My brewer would not come out of the descale mode after running like 5 reservoirs of water. I called Keurig. They had me unplug it wait 10 seconds and then plug back in. They then had me run a 12 oz cleansing brew cycle (no kcup). Descale light is now off. Wow that was a lot of work lol. Appreciate your videos!
Thanks
Thanks for the tip. Same thing happened to me today. Now the problem seems to be solved.
@@louisefrances8929 me too!
@Iradavich thanks a lot! I was frustrated same thing happened to me!
What is this cleansing brew cycle?
Finally, someone who said NOT to turn on the machine before pressing the 8oz/12oz to descale! Even though I read the manual many times, that part of the instructions did not stand out (it is now highligthed). Thank you for fixing my machine and saving me a trip to Costco for a return!
Glad I could help!
Same here. Seriously thank you. My girlfriend got one for free that had the descale light blinking. I was getting frustrated not being able to get descale mode to work. Nothing I read said to do the process for descale mode with the power off. Works fine now. Thank you so much!
I always come back to this video every time I descale, so thank you for this! Although I still forget to remove the Kcup inside before my first descale drain 😅
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much Just A Dad! I'm just A Mom... and this video was super useful! My machine turned off after 2 rinses, but I just kept using brew until all the water was done
Same with me! Happy to hear I'm not the only one who had 2 rinses, was getting nervous haha.
My machine didn't turn off descale it ran the reservoir out of water and tripped the thermal protection. No power. It didn't stop and say add water during the rinse. Never let it run out of water.
Excellent video! Thank you.
Using the Keurig solution, and after two load of descaling , the water went to the lowest level, but the add water signal does not turn on. I was scared that I messed it up. So I took it out, add water and repeat the descale procedure. I put two extra bucket of water (fill to the top level) before my machine decide that it’s done descaling.
So don’t worry if it took more than 5/6 extra load. Mine took about 10 loads and then the light is off.
This is a Known problem with the Keurig, it has to see the add water light come on for the logics inside the machine to complete the descale mode and turn off the Descale light. If the add water light does not come on, it will not advance to the Fresh water rinse cycle and then complete the Descale mode. What I have found is that if the add water light does not come on, then you have to stop the process before the machine runs out of water, you don't want to run the machine dry, it can cause it to fail. Unplug the machine for about 15 min, take the water tank off and turn the machine upside down and shake it a bit, it might have an air pocket in the line for the add water sensor. Then plug it back in and start all over, this time you don't have to use vinegar or the Keurig descaling solution but you do have to measure out the same amount and just use water. Put the machine back into descale mode and run it again and see if the add water light comes on. if the add water light still does not come on I would call Keurig customer support and explain what is happening.
It took three full containers of rinse for it to work. BTW, I am on my third machine in two years.
I gotta use this video for a drinking game... Everytime you hear "Descale" take a drink..... If you can last 3 mins... you need help!! LOL!!!
Funny!!! thanks for Sharing!!! I love games like that. Way to keep it fun even when you are doing something like Descaling (drink) a Keurig!!!
What is your favorite part about this machine?
@@JustADad Well, mine didn't need a descale in the end... Or at least when I went into the Descale mode or tried to run a water cycle, it would simply turn off... (it's dead) So new Keurig today... I would have to say, this being my 3rd keurig.. The quick heat up is probably the best feature by far! I will miss that very much with my new one... I wish all of them heated up that quickly!

Loved your video! Easy to understand step by step instructions! Thank you! I kept putting off this task but you made it bearable! I will keep up on my descaling now:)

Mine isn't telling me to add water, I went to bone dry empty tank and I keep descaling endlessly, it doesn't stop!
Mine never says add water after the second one, still says descale with no solution left
Helpful video. Found it by looking up the descaling box on Keurig, which had a 1 star review about no instructions, and tip to find this video.
Glad it helped!!! thanks for letting me know about it showing up on the review. I had no idea, It feels good to help as many as I can!!! thanks!!!!
My Keurig does not have a descale light. It just appears "desclale" and will not turn off. (There is no special light for descale, as on yours!)

I have done EVERYTHING! And my descale light will NOT go off.
Keurig has changed the way you descale your coffee maker. You have to put the machine in descale mode and follow it all the way through to get the descale light to go out.

I hope this helps. put the descale solution in the tank. You have to put the machine in descale mode. First leave the machine plugged in, then turn the power button off. It took me 10 cups to finally get the descale lite to go off! LOL😀👍
Wow, good job and do it!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Does a third party descaler solution like “Essential Values” apply here using these same instructions?
yes
I followed this to a T. It never said to add water after the 50/50 mix ran through. So I pushed the K button once more and it shut off and now it won't turn on!!
see this video ruclips.net/video/wKargTCNx9E/видео.html
I followed this procedure and at the end when the descale message went off a puff of steam came out the sides of the lid. I filled up the reservoir and opened the lid and no power came on, I pressed the power button and nothing happened. I tried plugging it into a different outlet and still the machine will not turn on! I now have an expensive door stop!!
check out the repair video ruclips.net/video/wKargTCNx9E/видео.html
Great vid! I noticed you have to be really careful of how much water you put in for the first and second flush. I was off by just a little bit and it didn't shut off automatically. It kept staying descale.
So I added more water and it finally recognized it and shut off. What a relief lol 😌
I forgot to add the filter basket in the machine before I started descaling it with the Keurig solution. I ran about 7-8 cycles of clean water through so far, and it still flashes, “Descale.” Did I mess up? Thank you again for your easy to understand, patient, great video.
no it will be ok, just replace the filter and you are good to go.
@@JustADad thank you. It took about 10 water cycles, then the descale light went off. The last time I descaled the machine, I used a 3rd party solution, which took less time, but it worked.
Why won’t my Keurig turn on after I just descaled it?
You can try to reset it. ruclips.net/video/IdE_4NIQEro/видео.html
This could be a known issue Keurig has with this model of Keurig. I would call Keurig Customer Care at 866-901-2739. I have had other viewers with the same thing. When they called Keurig some of them said Keurig knew about this issue and sent them a new Keurig. They have great customer service. I think you will need proof of Purchase. So sorry this happened. I hate it when someone follows my directions and then it breaks their machine. I am so sorry.
You got this right. The advice to leave the puncture basket inside could have been earlier. Not doing that made me start over. No big deal; but would have been nice to know. I didn't find this six months ago, the first time my light went on, and I spent a couple of hours getting it done. I've found you now. I don't see a link for the vinegar version you said you were going to make. I'll have to check out your site and find it. Later though. For now. Thank you. I'm descaled
Thanks for the video, super helpful! However, the reservoir tank I filled up over 5 times because screen still said descaling. It eventually went away. I didn’t use another solution or vinegar as suggested if it didn’t go away.
This video was so helpful! I had to keep filling the tank up with water after the solution before I got the add water indicator. Took about 4-5 cycles before the add water light came on, then another 6 or so cycles too finish the job. Thank you!
Great job!
Excellent instructions. I kept trying to descale mine by directions on bottle not putting in descale mode. Light never went off. Called Keurig they sent me a new machine. When that needed descale same thing. They sent me new machine. Didn’t even make me return my machine. Upon research I found out about descale mode. So I have 2 practically new Keurig machines that I know how to descale. Keurig never asked if I was in descale mode and I didn’t know. My Keurig was expensive and now I have a spare one. 😂 Saving your video because I keep forgetting which buttons to get in descale mode. Thank you!
Hahah nice
Great instructions! Wished we had watched this before we ruined our first Keurig trying to descale it. Glad we found these instructions for our 2nd Keurig.
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching and I am glad it helped. Thanks
What is your favorite K Cup?
So helpful thank you I followed everything you did step by step!
Glad it helped! Good job Very proud of you!
I descaled my Keurig Supreme Plus with vinegar and then twice with the Keurig descaling solution and I cleaned the needles … it’s still requesting a descale and will only brew about 2 ounces at a time then shut off … any suggestions?

@@JustADad I can get the descale light to go off but immediately after the descaling process it’s brews only 2 or 3 ounces and shuts off. When I turn it back on it says to descale again but I repeated the process 3 times … once with vinegar and twice with descaling solution. Getting kinda expensive to keep descaling. You think it’s another issue? Thanks
Thank you for posting this! I had a question.. do you use the Rinse POD too? Or when do I use the Rinse POD? Thanks again 😁
Thanks for your video. It worked perfectly on our unit! Too bad Keurig can't hire you to do their work...
Ugh. I wish I had watched this video before attempting to descale my Keurig today. I followed the instructions on the bottle so I never went into Descale mode. Do you think that means the descaler is in parts of my coffeemaker it shouldn’t be?
No I think you are fine, Descale mode is just a mode that tells the descale light to go out, the water does not go any place that it normally does not go. I tell everyone that if they have already run the descale solution through the machine then just use water for the solution when they have to go and put it in descale mode, that way you don't have to run descale solution through twice. thanks for Watching!!!
Great video, AWESOME instructions!! I have a question. Have you or anyone else on here ever have or had a problem after descaling (running through descale mode), where the machine starts to short you on your brew? I've had to send two of these back to Keurig. After descaling, (usually after a few months and second time descaling), shortly after, I would not get a full brew anymore. The last one I sent back, I would have to push the 12oz button to get 6oz of brew out of it. I'm on my third K Supreme Plus, even this one is starting to short me 1oz. I am very thorough with my preventive maintenance and upkeep. I don't believe there's anything stuck in the lines, just seems like the machine stops brewing early.
EXCELLENT VIDEO.....one of the best out there. Your instruction is very detail and thorough. Easy step by step. Thanks for sharing...Saving this video for the next time i descale my Keurig machine. Thank you so much. :)
Your so welcome!!! good job figuring it out and getting it done!! very proud of you!
I bookmarked this video back in Oct when I first got my machine to be prepared. Descale came on this morning ( 4 months of use) and I followed steps to a tee. Worked like a charm...thank you!
Thank you for making this video:) I received this very coffee maker for Christmas and had to do my first descaling today. You were very thorough and IT WRKED!:)
Awesome!!! good Job!!! very proud of you!!!!
I have to do this procedure every 21/2 to 3 months at a time!😮 I will be looking to get another brand of K-cup that does not require a procedure like this! It is a $13 each time and takes 30 minutes each time!😂 That means $52 expense and 2 hours each year!😂 I gave away my old Keurig that did not need this and on eBay it selling at twice what I pay for it brand new!😢 Taste a out the same too!😮
$1 for charcoal water filter, $4 a year, 10 minute soaking; total now is $56 and 2 hours annually! 😬
Starbucks cost $2.50 each time X 250 or $625. Cost of Keurig $129 + $56 is $185. Coffee $.5 x 250 is $125. Total saving is: $315!😮 Half!🤡
Thank you for your clear & easy video's. This one helped me so much for descaling my Supreme Keurig......Easy, Easy,Easy......Love!
My KSupreme plus does not say “ Add Water” after the solution/water mixture runs through it for the first cleanse. I almost ran it DRY ( had to take it apart perviously and reset the thermostat-using your instructions of course. 😊) any thoughts on why? 🤔
Thank you SO very much! Your video is clear and concise! We’ve never read to hold the 8oz and 12oz buttons down, so our descale light never went out. Now it’s like a brand new machine!
You are so welcome!
I noticed that the instructions say let it sit for 30 minutes before running the cleansing cycle. However, you don’t include this step. Is it not necessary? Should we be doing that step? BTW, this video has been immensely helpful. I come back to it every time I need to descale.
Omg! I couldn’t get my light off until I watched this video. Thank you!!!! I also prefer your calming voice over the other videos.
Awesome! Thank you!
After you descale this machine the first time, how come the descale light comes on much quicker after the first time? It happens with every one of these I’ve had. The descale light came on after 6 weeks. Is that abnormal? Would you ignore it and wait until at least 2 months or more? I always use your videos for Keurig machines.
Great walkthrough of the descale process! We purchased our Supreme Plus about 3 months ago from Costco and my descale light came on yesterday.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and your kind words!! It makes me smile when I am able to help someone. Thanks again!!
I just completed this effort! I had my iPad next to my Keurig and turned your video on and off when I did each step with you. Like others have said, your video is golden and please don’t remove it! Many thanks!
I had the same problem after running many reservoirs of water through mine. Mine would never say “add water” even when I let it run dry. I tried letting it run dry twice and still no “add water” signal. Before packing it to return from Florida last April I intentionally let mine run dry to get all the water out and it blew the high heat sensor relay. I had to disassemble the unit to reset it. (Thanks for your video on that repair) Do you have any method to bring back my “add water” signal. I have the supreme plus unit you show in this video. Ever since I bought it last year I have had to watch the water level as it has never has “add water”. Thank you for the great instructional videos on these Keurigs. What will they come out with next?
I tried the previous commenters method of unplugging my Keurig and letting it sit for a while. Then started a new “descale” episode but after a couple 12 oz runs it still says “descale”. Mine has said “descale” ever since the “descale” signal first came on last spring. I had possessed mine for about 3 months then. Bought it last fall at Costco on sale. Makes good coffee but the computer is wacky I think.
I would say you missed a step on cleaning the reservoir really well. Your Reservoir will build up with calcium and other minerals just from holding water which I have had to clean out with a brush. I have done without even doing a full descaling procedure and it made a massive difference on the taste of my coffee just by cleaning the Reservoir really well with a brush. I grew up with really hard water and agree it is hard on everything even with our water softener that we had. I find city water just as hard because of all the chlorine and whatever else is in the city water is just as bad.
Thanks for the nice tip.
How do I find your other videos of how to clean the needles
ruclips.net/video/CACN1jCO94I/видео.html
I have a K Supreme Plus and when I descale and it goes through descale mode. It still wants to descale but will brew occasionally or make about 2 oz.Any help much appreciated.
I wish they put a button on the machine when it is time to clean it.
that would be way too easy!!
Thank you so much for this great video it is much easier to watch your video than to go to the Keurig site and also the directions on the bottle of the Keurig descaling solution are not very good either so thank you again
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to leave such nice remarks. I am glad it helped.
What is your favorite coffee?
I started the descaling process and my Keurig that is 3 months old shut off and won't start. I can't even get it to power up. Tried unplugging for a few minutes and plugged it back in. Nothing.
This is a ridiculous process to have to go through. Keurig should be able to do better. If it even worked that would be great. But I have NEVER had the add water command come on during descaling.
Followed your instructions and it worked, no more descale light. Thankyou
could never get my supreme Plus Smart to come out of descale mode. Never would say add water even after unplugging and trying again. Ran 2 gallons of water through it. What a way to ruin a great machine by hosing up the descale process. Sounds like they need to do a software fix.
I ran the descale solution through as instructed but the machine didn’t move on to the “add water” step. It continues to show “descale” after the solution mixture is gone. Anyone else experiencing this?
so I went through two things of descaling solution and this has done nothing. The instructions you gave for not the same instructions on the label and I didn't know about descale mode. I'm going to trash this thing piece of shit coffee maker
It's time for me to descale my machine for the first time. Km debating between the solution or vinegar. Is the keurig solution toxic or anything? Is it safe to use ?
Thanks, But my Descale light want off & the add water light came on without rinsing but went through the rinsing cycle again
How do you reset the Favorites? I clicked on the Favorite button by accident, and I want to clear it out of memory.
Thank you so much for such a thorough and detailed video. I was stressing over the descaling. I did it incorrect the first time. This is the same machine I have.
Good job figuring it out and sticking with it!!! I am so proud of you!!
Here’s the simplified directions for people that are familiar with Keurig products:
#1. Make sure Keurig is off
#2. Hold 8oz and 12oz for 3 seconds
#3. Hit the K button
Thanks for the info! and quick tip!
Merci beaucoup mon cher monsieur, c est un plaisir vous avoir trouvé et réparer ma cafetière, très bon vidéo👍👍👍👍❤
I wonder if instead of throwing out the descaler/water we could put it in the toilet bowl and get 2 purposes out of it?
Great Idea!! thanks for sharing to help me and others!!!
Smart idea
Thanks. I had also followed the directions on the bottle... Silly me. Of course I should have checked RUclips first, for the correct instructions. Thanks again.
Your welcome, I did the same thing!
It’s all good when I hold the 12 and 8 descale is highlighted there in the big K flashes but then when I hit the big K nothing happens it still still says Descale it doesn’t go to descaling.
Why doesn't it stop saying descale after two different solution cleans, was that vecause I didn't remove the pod first
I have found that if I add a pitcher of fresh water to the reservoir just before the first container of water is gone during the rinse cycle, the descaling prompt will stay on and I don’t have to raise and lower the top to continue rinsing.
I performed the descale as instructed. I have now run 4 FULL RESERVOIRS of clean water through and the Add Water light just came on! Pressed the K button again, Descaling. After the 5th FULL RESERVOIR - FINALLY, it went off!
Sorry to hear that, I am not sure why Keurig made it so hard to descale a machine!
I've ran through 3 tanks and it still says dealing. The bottle says 12 and 3 tanks is at least 12-15
Excellent video, precise instructions, can't ask for anything more 😉👍🏾
Thanks 👍
Thanks, pal. Helpful
No problem 👍
Can you tell me why the KCup holder needs to be in the machine when descaling? I usually pull everything out to clean. Just wondering. 🤷♀️
Just to direct the water to come out the bottom, you can try it without but it might make a mess
I ran the descale + water solution through the machine as a regular brew instead of descale mode. Now I’ve rinsed it with 12+ brews but the light still stays on :(

Hello justadad. I want to thank you for your video. You have saved me a lot of frustration trying to figure out how to get the descaling light to go off on my K cup Supreme Coffee Maker. Somewhere in the descaling process, I fell asleep. I have no clue where I was in the process, but that light was still blinking when I woke up. I ran another thing of fresh water through the machine, and it was still blinking. I found your video and ran just plain water through the machine instead of another batch of solution. The light finally shut off after I followed your easy steps to descale my coffee maker. Thanks for the easy to follow video. I highly recommend it to others who have the same problem 🙂

Thanks for posting, I had an older Keurig and it had us descaling different using an 8 ounce bottle with it's direction of using half the bottle, I verified your bottle at 14 ounces did this exactly to your instruction of 50:50 solution. I'm glad I had 2 bottles of solution, again thank you very much.
Your so welcome, good job figuring it out.
Mine didn't blink is that becausevI did not remove pod
I cannot get my Keurig into descale mode at all. Tried and tried... Any ideas?
Hi thanks for this amazing video. I did the everything and my machine wouldn’t turn on!
The Keurig K Supreme Models have a history of this problem. The unit can overheat and trip the thermostat on the inside of the machine. I made a video on how to open up your Keurig and reset the thermostat with a paperclip. But it requires you to open it up. This is a link to the video ruclips.net/video/IdE_4NIQEro/видео.html If this does not fix the problem or you are not able to open it up, I would call Keurig 866-901-2739, They are aware of this problem and should replace you unit free of charge. Lot of other viewers have had this same problem during a descale the machine has to run a lot of cycles to run the solution through the machine then the rinse cycles. It is a good idea in the future to let the machine sit for 30 min before you start the rinse cycle, but you have to make sure the machine stays in descale mode or it will not turn you light out at the end of the rinse. Also some K Supreme the low water light does not come on and you might run the machine dry which can also cause the thermostat to trip. In the case of the low water light not coming on you have to stop the process and start all over, but this time you can just use water on both the first part and rinse cycle. The machine has to see the low water light come on for the logic in the descale mode to complete and turn the light off.
Thanks for this video. My Keurig Supreme Plus is finally showing the descale message. I have vinegar, but would like to use citric acid instead because I bought it for canning. I think the ratio is 1 to 2 tablespoons of citric acid to 4 cups of water. I'll try that and see how it goes. Would love it if you would demonstrate that method on RUclips. Thanks for all your helpful videos!
I did, that is what this video is about, the Keruig solution is citric acid\ ruclips.net/video/xAbwy54ShUU/видео.html
very informative and thanks for compiling this video. I have the Keurig K Supreme Plus and (the word descaling appears in the screen)
Yeah that is great, now its a lot easier to put the machine into descale mode. Thanks for sharing.
You need to turn off your machine and then press 8 and 12. Then descale
Thx u so much it’s work and thx for ur patient in the video. I really appreciate ur video 👌😍
your So welcome!
Thanks for this video. I just recently commented on another video using the Supreme, and was wondering why the Supreme Plus didn't have the descale mode and add water function, but now after finding and watching this video here, I now know how to descale and that the Plus does still have this function. Ps. I have been attaching my water pitcher with the handle facing outward (to the west). I experimented and realized the pitcher fits 3 ways (with the handle facing north, south and west,) and it is easier to grab /handle facing outward (west) and still brews fine with the water pitcher attached that way
Thanks for Watching and the tip on the handle!!
What is your favorite K cup?
@@JustADad I recently shared my favorite(s) on another one of your videos, so if this sounds familar that was me.... My favorite coffee is Seattle's Best, but I buy the Donut Shop 60ct. Pods which is great coffee as well and I love over ice the Donut Shop Vanilla Latte pod.
Wish I would've watched this before wasting a bottle of descaling Solution! NOT all machines descale the same! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!
FUNNY sorry I got a little laugh. Thanks for Watching and yeah I don't know why Keurig made it so different to descale. I did the same thing about 4 times before I figured it out. Thanks for Sharing and I did the same thing.!!!
What is your favorite K Cup?
Beautiful. Just the step-by-step video on how to descale my Keurig K-Supreme Plus. You explain each step thoroughly. Keurig should send you a case of Descaling solution for this well-made video. I just subscribed to your channel.
Your so welcome, Thanks for Watching!
Thanks of the video but FFS, we just want to know what buttons to push 🙂
Thank you for your video. It did help me 🤗
Just a heads up!
Make sure you remove the carbon filter before descaleing, as shown in this video. I followed the directions with the machine and it didn't say to. It will overheat and you won't be able to turn back on. I had to return 2 machines because I hadn't seen this video first! lol.
😅 needless to say I can't stress enough to remove filter first! It will work like a charm!
Thanks for sharing
Mine won’t turn on maybe because I didn’t take the filter out in time😩
@@angimcdonald290 more than likely, I had to return 2 because I didn't remove filter. 😞 I have since descaled mine 2x on my new machine with filter removed and haven't had a problem . It's the only reason I can come up with for machine over heating.

Actual procedure starts at 3:00 in the video!😊
Apple Cider Vinegar works Best !!!!
So glad you make these videos!! The descale light has been on at ours at work for as long as I've been here (over a year now) and decided I should clean it, Keurig says let it go until it says add water, and I thought I blew it up haha. So watched your video on how go fix that and now watching this to make sure I do it right😅😅
Glad to help!
Love ur video thanks a lot Man it really really helped me out couldn’t have done it with this video
Glad it helped!
