The new machine from Cosco sucks. It pokes too many holes in the top of the k-cup and makes every cup too strong when some people like light blends. I know I can do 4oz of water then brew a cup over top but the brewing process even on lowest strength is too slow, hence too strong. The strength setting is a gimmick. There is no hot water button. It needs a redesign in my opinion.

This is my second Keurig Coffee Brewer. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first one lasted 6 years. It worked beautifully until the day it didn't. It was hard to go back to the drip coffee for a couple of days while I waited on my Keurig to get here. There is a huge difference in the taste. Keurig makes a really good cup of coffee. This new one is a little different from my old one. I find putting the water filter in was easier than on the old one. Attaching the water reservoir was also a little different but once I figured it out, it too was easier. This new one has the auto off feature but is not programmable like the old one. Only three cup sizes instead of four. The odd thing for me was how much lighter in weight this one is compared to my old one. More plastic and much less metal in the construction of this one. The price is so much less than the original Keurig that I bought and the coffee tastes the same so all in all I am satisfied.

The splattering doesn’t bother me because I mostly use 16 or 20 oz. coffee tumblers. Mine is starting to separate around the handle. They need to address it and somehow use metal or something that won’t warp due to the intense heat of the water and get rid of that cheap ass made in china plastic crap! It’s a great coffee making instrument, but it is just too cheaply made for the money we pay for them!

Still learning, experimenting what makes my best tasting, deep, intense but not bitter, cup of Joe. I love your pre-warm cycle, I'm going to program that to button 1. My real issue with this machine - it just doesn't brew hot enough. That temp control IS a door close button.

We're on our second Keurig Supreme Plus. We had to return the first one because it kept telling us to add more water.
    We used bottled (non-spring) water.
Now the second machine is telling us to add water. There's plenty of water in the reservoir. It's super annoying.
Why is this happening? I've had numerous Keurigs of various makes and models...and this one is the worst!
We've literally brewed 2 cups and now it's saying add water. The reservoir is almost full. The water is pure.
I'm just about finished with this company.
I haven't had my morning coffee so maybe I'm just super cranky.

@@wicky201 the Keurig is a piece of shit. There's thousands of people having the same issue. I ended up purchasing a Nespresso Vertuo Plus. No problems with it. Some people complain about the price of the Nespresso coffee pods...but here's a little pro tip. You can make your own pods. It's easy. First you buy a few sleeves of original Nespresso pods and then you can reuse them dozens of times each. It's easy. I purchased foil lids from Amazon that fit perfectly to the top (they sell them in packs of 100) great price. The best coffee is an espresso ground...I use the brand Cafe Bustelo. You'll get used to making them and it becomes second nature. I can make a pod in about 30 seconds. You literally fill it with ground coffee and pack it just a little bit...not too much. I use a 1 tbsp measuring spoon. It has a rounded bottom shape that fits perfectly to pack the coffee. About 2 tbsp is all it takes. Then just place the foil on top and it has a food grade sticky edge that seals the pod. Boom done. I'll watch TV or listen to a podcast and make 40 pods at a time. Give it a go. You won't be disappointed.

Just a friendly tip before you buy this, if your kitchen outlets are arc fault outlets (GFCI) this coffee maker will trip your breaker. I had a K Elite before this and that didn't happen. What I believe is happening is that the K Supreme Plus does not heat the water in the internal reservoir on startup like the K Elite did -- instead it heats it every-time you brew a cup. This process draws a lot of power and in turn trips the circuit breaker all the time.
**SOLUTION: Simply plug a true surge protector into your GFCI outlet and plug the K Supreme Plus into the surge protector. This regulates the current and stops the breaker from tripping. It's working for me.

I’m on my third model of this appliance in less than six months. All have been returned for the same issue. Short cup of coffee. The first cup is about 1 oz. Then you must start the brew cycle again to get the required amount of coffee. This has been the same problem with all 3 units. Called Keurig, I was informed that they have never had the short cup problem reported to them. I went through all of the necessary steps to troubleshoot the problem. Although I like the look and features of this coffee maker and the coffee I’m moving on to another manufacturer. I can understand that one appliance can be defective, but 3?? I give this coffee marker 1 star for the appearance and features. I do not recommend this particular model.

Have spent so much time on the phone with Keurig troubleshooting everything, watching videos, etc. Keurig can never tell me what the issue may be...they may or may not know...they just send a new machine. This time I'll get a refund or another model. Love to hear from anyone that has had this problem successfully solved...or knows what is causing the problem.

Great points made in your video. Running a no-pod rinse before first pod of the day, then a no-pod rinse after everyone is done in the morning is a must in my house. Additional benefits are you wet the dry needle, preventing it from clogging with grounds and preheat a mug. No-pod rinsing after everyone uses it in the morning, rinses the needle and prevents any overnight caking of grounds that might be in the needle. Before I learned the no-pod rinse method, I can not tell you how many returns Costco has received from me for clogged needles. I tried the paperclip fix to unclog for a while, but that gets old fast. I also press the pod down in the machine to pierce the bottom of pod before I close the lid.

At Costco Canada, the machine comes with the new universal k cup. I've been using it this week, it's a little messier than the old one. What annoys me with this machine is when i take out the Universal k cup (and NOT put back the built in basket) and run a water cycle, the water just splashes everywhere. It seems the opening at the bottom is very wide and because of the 5 needles, the water just splashes everywhere. So, I have to use the built in basket for water, then the universal one for coffee. It seems Keurig just likes to add few quirks in every machine it makes. I also agree with you on the Temp settings, it does nothing. But I did notice the larger brew you make, the hotter it is. So maybe the temp setting works on larger cups only.

    • @TopOffMyCoffee
      @TopOffMyCoffee  3 года назад +4

Lots of quirks for sure, I think Keurig really opened up a con of worms by introducing the 5-point needle. I just don't see a good way of making a reusable k-cup work well with both the old single needle and the 5-point needle systems. The more I use the my k-cup the more small problems I find and you just described another one I've failed to mention on the channel to date. Running straight water through it is different. On a side note, I'm glad to hear that yet another person was able to get a supreme bundled with the new design my k-cup, hopefully that will become more and more normal over time.

I don't know what Keurig's intent is for the 3 temp settings, your video and just a dad's video are thinking it is supposed to be the temp of the coffee in the cup, but i remember hearing about extraction of coffee flavor and increasing the temp for the grounds during the brew to get maximum extraction with certain beans so there is possibly more flavor in your cup, not higher temp coffee in the cup.

I’ve had my Keurig VUE coffee machine for many years now and I’ve been using it with the K-cup adapter. It allows me to set the brew temperature to 197° and, from what I’ve seen, this is the ONLY Keurig brewer that has this high of a brew temperature. I’ve been brewing Newman’s Own Organic French Roast for years now (solely), and it tastes fantastic. However, I’ve been really interested in the new Keurig K-Supreme Plus for awhile now because I thought the multi stream technology would make for an even better tasting cup of coffee. Well, I decided to buy one the other night because Target had them on sale for only $149, and I’ve not had good results so far. On my VUE, I would set my temperature to 197° and brew a 6oz cup with the strong button and it came out perfectly every time. I’ve tried all of the possible settings for temperature and strength on the K-Supreme Plus and the coffee ALWAYS comes out tasting flat and lifeless. I tested the water temperature of both brewers with my quick read thermometer and the VUE is almost 10° hotter than the K-Supreme Plus. Knowing what I know about coffee, that difference in temperature can definitely make a difference in taste profile. Is there anything you’d recommend to help me brew a better cup with this K-Supreme Plus? If not, do you know of any single serve brewers that brew at around 200°? Thanks!

In all seriousness, there is something to be said for simplicity. Until I (very recently) bought a K-Supreme Smart Plus we used Keurig 2.0. No complaints about the coffee. A simple and straightforward device by comparison. The 2.0 brewed a lot of coffee for us but it did begin to leak on the countertop intermittently. I was a little sad on the day we decommissioned the 2.0 because it had served us very well.

Regarding the myKcup, my K-Supreme Plus did include a myKcup. I purchased at Costco and they always have bundled type packaging. One of the first things I noticed about the new myKcup (after removing the unecessary holder that was literally taped to it) was that EVERYthing about it is identical to the old universal myKcup EXCEPT the lid. I would love to see Keurig offer replacement lids for sale in the new style rather than having to buy all new components. Because this is my regular method of brewing I have multiple units so I can clean and let dry between uses. I usually set up 3 at a time and keep them in an airtight container so I can grab and brew as easily as my husband does with his premade k-cups. For now, I'm still doing that and using the old lids to keep coffee from dumping out if they tilt, then switching just the lid when it's time to brew, but seriously? how hard would it be to just sell the new lid and keep the rest out of landfills?

Found your tips for this coffee maker helpful. Planning to watch the other ones. I just picked up this exact model - K-Supreme Plus last night for $25 off of FB Marketplace. Got it up and running this morning but immediately found out it was showing "Descale" / So I found other videos about that and while it was going through the process (I used vinegar) I was wondering > Did I buy a lemon??? --- Nope. After going through the descale cycle it sure enough *STOPPED* showing me the descale message. I was able to get my 3 settings "set" , that works. What I learned from your video > 1) The "sold separately" coffee grounds specialty cup / I was a little relieved to find out it is indeed sold separately and that the seller didn't actually screw me over or leave out missing parts. I gotta order one if I want to go that route. Fine. Cool. 2) You explained the strength setting and the temp setting very well. I learned what the heck the strength button actually does and will likely program all 3 settings with the highest strength setting. 3) Your temp settings / + 4oz preheat tip was helpful. Will likely set that as program setting #1. #2 will be used for "make my freakin' coffee now please." ---- I also learned about the coffee filters in the water jug. I'll need to order some but thankfully they are really cheap on Amazon. Made 2 cups of coffee this morning. Found out 8 oz isn't enough for me, while 12oz is maybe too much. (Lost some flavor punch) - So I'll probably split the difference and get used to 10 oz setting. Good job, good video, good tips and lessons. Thumbs up. If it only lasts 6 months - I still got a steal at $25. Unit looks brand new. Other than having to descale (which worked) / I think I got a great deal.

Okay there is one major problem with Keurig! It does not heat the water to the ultimate temperature for coffee which is 195°F. I checked the temperature of the water, with my meat thermometer, as it was dripping out because I know the water temperature will drop dramatically once it is in your glass mug. The highest temperature setting only heated the water to 180°F.
Your brewer should maintain a water temperature between 195°F to 205°F for optimal extraction. Colder water will result in flat, under-extracted coffee, while water that is too hot will also cause a loss of quality in the taste of the coffee.

Hi, I am having two issues with my new Keurig supreme plus that I bought from Costco last week. The brewing stream is too weak, if I put the cup down on its stand, the splashing drops scatter on the machine front and also down on the carpet etc until I hold it closer to the brewing spot. Also, when I press the brewing button, it releases water into the cup for about 7-8 seconds which makes it dilute. I returned the first machine back for both the reason and got replacement but this too has the same issues....I called the customer service of Keurig Canada, it is a terrible customer service, they do not have much product knowledge and language barrier to understand and communicate. If you please let me know if this is the manufacturing defect? My old Keurig coffee maker 2.0 which is about 7-8 years old makes great coffee with good downpour stream and right away starts to brew the coffee instead of water in the beginning. Please help otherwise I have to return this machine again and get to some other brand. The taste of coffee with this machine is better the old machine and also it is stainless steel which look beautiful. Thank you.

Man....I'd sure like to know what the secret is to a long life with these machines! I always descale my K Supreme Plus when the Descale light comes on, and (until now) have always changed out the filter every month. (I'm now running it without the filter, but am finding no filter doesn't seem to change anything).
Yet, for some reason, I'm on my 4th K-Supreme Plus coffee maker! Each one has malfunctioned within the manufacturer's warranty period, so I haven't had to purchase the machine 4 times...Keurig has replaced it after each malfunction.
What happens to me (and I don't know how common this fault is) is that, over time (usually within 3-7 months) the machine starts to brew less than the desired amount. Typically, what happens is that it starts to brew 8 ounces on the 10 ounce setting...and each setting seems to brew 2 ounces less than it should. (The first malfunction, in addition to what I've previously described, actually resulted in a machine that wouldn't even turn on).
I'd also like to point out that cleaning the upper needles in these machines isn't very easy, as the holes are sometimes tucked under the rubber housing, making them difficult to find (much less clean out).
While Keurig does honor their warranty, it's still a pain in the butt. It requires a phone call to Keurig support, where the call center individual has you run thru all the troubleshooting steps you've already done. At the end of this, the individual says they will order a new unit for you. Then you have to wait approximately 10-14 days for the new unit to arrive.
So maybe it is a good machine, and I've just had freakishly bad luck with these?

I like mine very much, but I don't use the filter. One reason is because my drinking water is already filtered through my LG refrigerator, filters I diligently change every 6 months or so. Secondly, the little bean-bag type carbon filters from Keurig add a nasty taste to the hot water/coffee that passes through the machine. When I first got my Keurig K-Supreme Plus I soaked the filter, rinsed it (per instructions)... but was grossed out by the awful taste after brewing the first cup. I dumped the water, soaked and re-rinsed the filter, same issue on cup #2. So I thought "why do I even need this filter? my water is already filtered" and threw the bean-bag in the trash. Coffee tastes great now, as it should. Besides the taste of the water that gets passed through (or beneath!) this filter, the way it's implemented is goofy. The flat side of the little bean-bag just lightly sits over the port that your water passes into the machine through. Water never really goes all the way through the thickness of the filter; it just seeps beneath it. Kind of a dumb design.

The only thing that was mentioned is that the coffee will definitely cool once it hits the cup which is understandable but just hope it’s not enough to make a bad cup.

I’m including an update here. I received this machine today. Wow! What a let down. It looks and feels like a toy and with the problems mentioned not just here but in many other pages, it’s a no go. I’m sending it back.

only brew one cup of coffee per pod. I recommend my viewers and readers on my website to only brew between 6 and 8oz cups per k-cup or up to 10oz from the Universal My K-Cup. I have a video from a week or two ago where I brewed one 12oz cup from a single k-cup but split it into roughly 2oz portions and you can see how terrible the coffee looks if you start brewing more than 8 to 10oz from one k-cup. Check it out. Thanks for your comment Cynthia!
