How to start the descale mode and how long it will take. Step by step for beginners how to descale your Keurig coffee maker. How to get your descale light to go out using descale mode in your coffee maker. How to rinse your coffee maker after you are done descaling.
IS YOUR COFFEE NOT TASTING GOOD? IS YOUR COFFEE COLD? IS YOUR KEURIG MACHINE LOUD? IS YOUR COFFEE MAKER TAKING A LONG TIME TO BREW A CUP OF COFFEE? These are all signs that it is time to descale/clean the inside of your coffee maker. I show you where the directions are to descale your coffee maker.
Keurig has changed the way you descale your coffee maker. You have to put the machine in descale mode and follow it all the way through to get the descale light to go out.
Step by step instructions see below. You have to follow them all the way through.
I hope this helps.
1. Put the descale solution in the tank.
2. Leave the machine plugged in, then turn the power button off. Press and hold the 8oz and 12oz button for 3 seconds till the big K brew button starts flashing. This puts it into DESCALE MODE. The only light on will be the K button. The power button does not light up.
3. Press the K button and it will run 12 oz through the machine. Keep pressing the K button till the add water light comes on.
4. Put fresh water in the reservoir and the add water light will go out and the K button will start flashing again.
5. Press the K button to start the machine again this time it will be rinsing the machine at 12oz each time you press the button. Keep pressing the K button till the add water light comes on again.
6. Fill it up with water again and it will come out of descale mode. Turn it on and the descale light should be out. You are ready to use it again.

Descaling Keurig using White Vinegar
Remove K-cup
Remove filter unit from water pitcher
Soak a new filter in a glass of water while you descale
To the water container add:
16 oz White Vinegar
16 oz water
Replace water container
With power off, press 8 oz and 12 oz buttons simultaneously
Power will come on and the display will read “Descaling”
Put large mug (> 12 oz) on the tray.
Press K button
Empty cup
Repeat pressing K button/emptying cup until display reads “Add water”
Empty remaining water and vinegar solution
Wash water container with soap and water.
Fill with fresh water.
Place > 12 oz mug under dispenser.
Press K. Cup will fill.
Empty cup, repeat until display reads “add water.”
Insert new filter unit in water unit.
Fill with fresh water.
End.
This is my second Keurig Coffee Brewer. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf The first one lasted 6 years. It worked beautifully until the day it didn't. It was hard to go back to the drip coffee for a couple of days while I waited on my Keurig to get here. There is a huge difference in the taste. Keurig makes a really good cup of coffee. This new one is a little different from my old one. I find putting the water filter in was easier than on the old one. Attaching the water reservoir was also a little different but once I figured it out, it too was easier. This new one has the auto off feature but is not programmable like the old one. Only three cup sizes instead of four. The odd thing for me was how much lighter in weight this one is compared to my old one. More plastic and much less metal in the construction of this one. The price is so much less than the original Keurig that I bought and the coffee tastes the same so all in all I am satisfied.
I have this machine and I’ve had to descale it three or four times over the last couple of years. Each time I consult a video to assist me with the process. This video by “Just a Dad” is (IMHO) the BEST video in the subject that I’ve seen !!! Great job and thank you very much!!!

Well once you do it a few times you should know how to do it. And you can always write down the instructions for later use. It's a quite simple process

I think many people put power button on and burn out the machine.

If the vinegar didn’t work, probably use the (manufactures) descaler.

Mine keeps shutting off every one oz. So I have to keep descaling to empty the entire contents of vinegar and water. I’ve only had it for about 5 months. What does this mean?

I followed the directions on the descaling solution to descale my Keurig. I wasted 2 bottles of solution and 2 hours of my life, and the light didn’t turn off. I nearly tossed out my Keurig, but didn’t thanks to your video. It worked perfectly following your instructions.

Descale Keurig K Supreme Plus Coffee Maker
======================================
Required:
Vinegar
Water
Measuring Cup
1. Set 20 min from your day when you want to start this!
2. Remove filter and empty out water from reservoir
3. Check there is no K cup inside machine!!
4. Measure out 15 ounces of pure vinegar and pour into Reservoir
5. Measure out an equal 15 ounces of water and add to Reservoir
6. Machine still plugged in / Power off turn off unit
7. Hold on 8 ounce and 12 ounce buttons together for 3 seconds. The K light lights up
8. Descaling mode should show up on Display Window
9. Press the K button and continue descaling until Add water display shows up. (About 5-6 cycles)
10. Do not turn off or touch machine buttons during change!
11. Empty out solution and clean Reservoir, fill up with freshwater.
12. Add water message should appear and the descale program should still appear in window and continue.
13. Press K button and continue with clean water cycle.
14. Five or Six passes are needed to clear the descale message
15. Keep descale and until machine finishes and goes dark. (this means you're out of descaling mode)
16. Finish emptying out and clean out container fill up with freshwater.
17. You can now power on machine and make coffee
18. Strength and temp should now visible with descaling message gone.
19. Now go ahead make your first cup and relax! You deserved it!

One point i would like to add to the very descriptive video is NEVER allow the machine to run empty. It is a design flaw that will end your machine!

Thank you, I'm a "don't need no stinkin instructions" kinda guy. I was wrong, nothing intuitive about this process. Your instructions were clear and concise, my Supreme Plus required 10 or 12 cycles (I lost count) but finally shut off when the descaling was complete. Thx again.

This is the best video on descaling. I bought 2 of the Keurig descaling solution and cleaning vinegar and did the process on tge bottle forvall 3. Descale remained on. I was so frustrated until my husband came across this video which explains everything! Thank you so much!!!

Best instructions out there. As an fyi, I remove the drip tray and use a large 4 cup measuring cup so I don’t have to keep emptying in and I use the hot vinegar water to clean my floors. 😊

What is your favorite K cup?
I did your procedure and it works great. Mine still works with the descale warning on (it doesn't bother me ). Now every 2 months I fill the reservoir tank 50/50 vinegar and water(old school method) and run it till it is almost empty. Then pour out left over solution, rinse out tank and fill with fresh water and run it through till almost empty again. Fill tank again and you're all good to go. This way I keep the scale out without all the risks of failure doing it the keurig way. I have had a permanent descale warning for 9 months now but this way will work until the heating element fails. My coffee always comes out great this way and I have no filter and well water to boot. I had to do the "take apart and paperclip reset thing" once on this one a long time ago and she is still going strong. Keurig sent me a replacement that is in storage when this one finally gives in. My way takes a little more time but it is as safe as brewing 10 cups of coffee in a row at your own pace with no worries.

Great video. Keurig provides little help how to descale properly. Most people are not entering descale mode and just power on the unit and run through the liquid mix.
This does not allow completion. Further, risk of overheating is high if you use all 78 ounces.

Thanks for this vinegar mix video. Vinegar descales this machine after 3 brews. The Keurig solution that’s $15 a bottle takes two bottles to descale and the session takes over an hour to descale. Vinegar is IT
Great video and excellent suggestions! On our 6-7th Keurig over the past 20 years or so. We have the K Supreme now, just like the video and we’re on our 2nd replacement 😢. Steven: I agree the K Supreme, we have the grey one, is a lousy machine. We are on #3 thanks to their warranty support. They fail during the descale operation. So we have luckily kept old Keurig 1 in red for the times Supreme is not so supreme.
@@galeyounger watch his video about how during the descaling process it will cause the thermostat to sometimes trip in this machine. I had to take my machine apart and fixed it!! 👏👏 Just a Dad gives a very precise, easy to follow video, on how to do it, otherwise I was ready to trash ours!! He saved the day and saved us a lot of money! 🎉
We are hooked on Keurig coffee but our machine(s) must be made in the lousiest tofu-drug factory in rural China.

Thank you so much!!!! All the instructions I found so far didn't say to turn the damn unit off first before pressing the 8 & 10oz button so I couldn't get the descale warning cleared. It's cleared now. Thank you
