Tony Levin in bass guitar awsome!!!
When I saw this tour as a young man, there was no race or politics.
It was a celebration of Life and everyone danced during the performance.
I still do as I become an old man.
RIP to Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba (Papa Wemba). So cool to see him on this song.
RIP. I loved his contribution to the song. So beautiful.
This concert is incredible from beginning to end. One of the greatest concerts on film. Peter Gabriel is simply brilliant.
I really enjoyed this concert segment! Thank you so much for watching!!
Totally agree.
I came to see this tour, it was awesome !
In the eyes of God
Best of my youth!!
♥ Love seeing new generations appreciating Peter Gabriel - and this song is a great one. Any song from this concert is worth a listen - keep going! Shaking the Tree is another great song from this show. Cheers!
I really enjoyed this concert! Thank you so much for the suggestion and for watching!
I cry when I watch this....incredibly moving song, his voice touches my soul....and it reminds me of my youth in the 80'S and how incredible that era was for music, friends, life in general. Such an amazing time. I wish I could recapture that innocence and excitement.
...and Due Credit to his female Co-Lead Singer, Paula Cole !!
OMG, this is what music is all about.
Wow, gives whole other meaning to live performance. So theatrical, alive.
*❕world peace like almost..i kept thinking ...what is it exactly that after enjoying this sO MUCH almost to the point of wanting to keep the joy inside of us (4.ever maybe even) the next day we keep on fighting having to admit that we haven´t learned 💲hit*
Well done Not intruptiions and my goodness you are beautiful
One of the greatest rock concert pieces ever! So much energy, diversity of cultures and talent! It jumps and keeps going!
Yes, indeed! I loved everything about this concert.
How many diversity of cultures? Zappa was doing that back in the '60s.
Yes, your reaction was my reaction the first time experiencing this video. Everything about it was perfect. Thank you for not pausing the performance. It deserved to be listened to without a break. Enjoyed your comments at the end.
Thank you so much for watching!!
Before cell phones......real lighters! Epic world beat performance.
You got that right.
A beautiful grand production done to highest level . Appreciated.
Peter is a very unique musician. Literally the entire world is his musical influences.
I believe it's a prayer. I'm an atheist. I adore this song. I love to see the happy people no race.
Only the Greatest, Sweetest song that has EVER...been written, recorded.and sung/oerformed...PG.....Forever....
Love it❤😊
He always brings Humanity AND Magic to the stage!
❤❤
Love this! It’s a celebration! My favorite live version of this one is from the “Live in Athens” concert with Youssou N’Dore (spelling.)
A must watch.
Wow rhis is amazing 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 🤩🤩🤩🤩
This is pure magic
Indeed!
This is everything. This is why artists strive to create. I knew you would be taken with this timeless performance, cc. Universality and unity is a subjective concept, but it is also an objective reality. I agree with you, I think this piece illustrates that point quite well. A tapestry of cultures all woven together to show our commonality and our diversity at the same time. For me, music has always been the best way to bring us together. The themes of this concert (if you ever watch any more of it) all, speak to the beauty and compassion that can be found ("In Your Eyes"). This was such a great reaction, cc. Thanks!
I agree this is everything!! I truly enjoyed it. Thank you so much 🙏🏿
Y...E...S...
This was the 90’s vision of an united and diverse world. I wish it could be felt as intensely as we felt it then. Peter Gabriel is a visionary. Watch “Biko” and “Shaking the Tree” from the same concert film, The Secret World. Guarantee you will love them.
It's a high point of humanity...we need and should have more of this!
People are people, so let's have it be, that you and I should get along so wonderfully!
This song is just amazing! Thank you for watching!
Great choice cc. Such a wonderful song/lyrics and this performance takes it over the top. The entire, "So" album is fire. Nice reaction and I'm glad that you enjoyed this so much!
I enjoyed this so much!! Thank you so much for watching.
Yea , JUST BEAUTIFUL ❤❤❤❤❤
Tony Levin on bass.
If you were a young adult during this time as I was, this song was a big deal and truly in my opinion, one of the best songs ever written however, this video takes it to a completely different dimension. This is pure beauty and genius at its best.
If you never seen or heard it you will be surprised..😅
Hope her is really listening to the words good too
This is one of those songs that grab ya and never lets go. What is it, 40 + years since this song hit the streets and it's as good today as then.
✌
it is alright with me when you listen through the experience without words or interruption -- to the contrary I prefer this format - I do not like it when the song gets interrupted -- your reaction can be narrated afterwards -- 100% vote and all my thumbs up for you babe.
I’ve had a soft spot for Peter Gabriel since early 70’s when at school lol , and I still listen to his early stuff every week if you ever get chance to find a massive 25 minutes singing supers ready with Genesis live you can see he’s always been a stage preforming artist ,but I think his main trait apart from being a great lyricist he is able to capture his compassion for his fellow man he’s got a good heart , great reaction cc
I'm really enjoying his songs so far, and they always seem to have a message. Thank you so much for watching and for the compliment!
Sooooo gooooood 😊😊😊😊😢😅😊😊😊🎉
My favorite performance of all time that I think every living person should see. Not about Peter Gabriel, about everyone. Know that's what he intended too and I so appreciate it....
I really enjoyed this concert.
The entire Secret World concert was excellent. It's my favourite concert that I have on video.I really enjoyed your interpretation of the lyrics. If you ever have time to see the entire concert I'd love to hear your reaction to that. The lady is Paula Cole, she's an American singer who had a fairly big hit back in the 90s.
Thank you so much for the suggestion because I really enjoyed this portion of the concert. Thank you for watching.
I saw this concert in Seattle in '93, last stop on their north American leg. It still sits firmly in my top 5 concert experiences. So much energy and depth of feeling in how he sang and such an incredible ensemble he gathered together for the concert. I can understand the way you just got swept away by the performance. I especially loved that at the concert they transitioned from world artist music playing over the PA to his instrumental piece "Zaar", which I recognized immediately and yelled out "here we go" right before the lights came up and the crowd started going nuts. Got to kind of feel like I kicked off the concert ;-]
So much talent on so many levels.
I love your reaction and take on the song.
The first time I heard this song was in the movie “Say Anything”. John Cusak holds a boom box over his head blasting this song outside the window of a girl he loves.
Thanks again.
Yes, this song is amazing! Thank you so much for watching ✌🏿
You are right about the lyrics. It's written in a way it can be about your love partner or God. Peter Gabriel said it was the intent. One thing I love about this performance is the joy and inclusion where music brings us together!
It's such an awesome song! Thank you so much for sharing.
Didn't see much inclusion and wouldn't care otherwise. Gabriel was better with Genesis. Very nice person. Zappa was doing inclusion back in the '60s.
best full concert ever
I'm sure it was based on this portion of the concert!
@CC2Cents_ try and watch the entire concert, Secret World Live, you will be impressed.
@@jdssurf thank you for the suggestion!
Love your interpretation of being either about God or the female! Feel the same. Love PG & this song, especially when he's got Sevara singing. Thanks for your vid!
Wonderful girl, Wonderful reaction. It's funny - I don't generally think of Peter Gabriel's work as "World Music" - but THIS song feels so universal, this is a WORLD SONG.
One of the best reviews I have seen! Thank you !
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much I really appreciate you watching from start to finish without stopping every two seconds like some do. only one thing better than this performance by Peter & thats seeing him perform live He is sensational
This performance is amazing!
This is such a beautiful performance!
I totally agree! Thank you for watching!
Beautiful.😊
I agree. This song is nice!
Peter had a ton of hits in the '80s.
I have to admit when I was watching during the song I was thinking she better have something good to say at the end of this because it’s been rather uneventful lol you had plenty to say and now I understand you were so into it you were forgetting you were doing a video. It’s a great song and it makes you feel good! Appreciate you!
Also, I listen to the song in its entirety before I give my reaction.
Another great song from this concert is "Shaking the tree", that is really a song for you.
Awesome, thank you!
@@CC2Cents_ Shaking the Tree live is amazing! Please do it!
Nice
I really enjoyed this concert! Thank you for watching ✌🏿
Haven't yet seen this concert in its entirety. But, I developed a huge respect for Peter Gabriel when I learned that he centered his record label (RealWorld) around creating a recording studio that sought out "3rd World" musicians who wouldn't have otherwise been given access to a state of the art recording studio.
Additionally, he was insistent on the artists maintaining the copyrights to the music they produced. I enjoyed this!!
Lastly...I have a request:
Rita Edmond: "Here's To Life".
You loved Luther's, "I (Who Have Nothing) so much that I'm very comfortable sending this one your way too!
And, yes: I'm STILL making my way through all of your reactions; and loving all of them.
I thoroughly enjoyed this concert! I'm really enjoying Peter Gabriel's song thus far, and thank you for sharing a little history about him. Thank you for the request and for supporting my channel.
Shaking the tree" from this same concert is also a must see
Thank you for the request.
Shaking the Tree
Thanks for the request.
Peter Gabriel IS so real. He has done concerts with Sting and others for Amnesty International. Also, many other charities and socially conscious groups to better mankind.
He originally was with Genesis with Phil Collins. You might check out them. Great drums. Great lyrics. Great melodies.
Also, you must try more of Peter's solo work. 'Sledgehammer' is definitely NOT about God. (though I agree with you about these lyrics....nice reaction)
So far, I'm enjoying his songs. Thank you for sharing a little of his background and for the request. Also, thank you for the compliment.
KISSes from Deutschland, I am missing the female singer in blue dress at the start of the song ... grrr
Great song, but this could possibly be the best LOOKING band ever!
Yes, it's just amazing!
If you watch and listen to this, you have hope for a better world, in which racism, comparison etc. wouldn't exist. One world, one human species not race, one wonderful diverse culture. Let's work for it and get rid of capitalism, who needs fighting and separating humans from each other.
