  • Part 5 of the series on the RUR condensing unite.
The condensate drain it probably one of the most important parts of the Tankless. without it the tankless will go into code 25 and not operate.
If you follow these steps you will not have one problem with it.
That CPVC female adaptor can be bought at Home Depot or Lowes.
The storage boxes can be bought at www.systainer.store.com
Have a licensed plumber that it certified in level 3 training by Rinnai install your tankless. Follow or state and local code and to file a permit with your local building dept.
If you have a question please e mail me at economyplmbg@aol.com
I hope you enjoy this video.

Mike, you solved (my) inexplicable question as to why my overflow/catch pan was full of Really Old water (my units up in my attic where I don’t check often enough.) Install plumber put a chicken sh*t (wedged-in) non-mechanical fit to the bottom of the condensate drain, and it leaked profusely over time. Now fixing-up the fitting configuration as per your recommendation... Much thanks for your expertise Mike!!

Mike... I can't thank you enough... Your videos provided ALL of the guidance I needed to install a RUR199in this past weekend. 100% success! Started 9a Saturday and finished 9p Sunday. Because of the detail in your videos, I didn't have a single question. I used Pex-a until I needed to interface with existing copper, at which point I used sharkbite (not my favorite, but I don't have a propress). Thanks again, sir. You rock!

I took on installing a new RUR199 it was quite the project but with watching all the install videos from mike a few times i was able to install the unit no problem. He makes sense of the stuff i wouldn't otherwise understand such as the different venting. I was also able to give Mike a call and talk to him real quick about installing and picking the right unit for my existing water system. So THANK YOU MIKE! i am loving my new RUR unit!

Hi Mike, great videos and thank you for sharing your knowledge. I installed a Rinnai i90 Combi boiler. I need to use a condensation pump. The 2 wires provided in the boiler need to be connected to a condensate pump with normally open terminals. The pump I purchased has normally closed terminals. I connected the 2 yellow pump wires to the 2 boiler wires labeled "to condensate pump" and got a condensate error message. I disconnected the wires and the error message went away. Can you recommend a pump that is compatible with the i90 boiler? Thanks

Mike - I have a Rinnai that I installed around 9 years ago. Occasionally the condensate tank will get alga in it and the water won't grow over the top baffle to the drain side, the unit shuts down. I just pull out the condensate tank, use a little bleach and I am good for a few more years. My question is, Can I put drain hose on the flush side in addition to the drain or does the condensate tank need some resistance to work properly?

I removed ph filter, removed trap, cleaned out no more code 12?? however every three to four days, depending on usage code 12 pops back up system shuts down and trap is full again. I now have ph filter disconnected, to see if that the problem, is something else is going on? any thoughts???
