    • @dannyfar7989
      @dannyfar7989 8 месяцев назад +27

      The boot isn't a problem, the soles are stiff and not really compressible.
      What is difficult however is modulating the brake with the foot you also use for steering with the pegs and balancing on them. You are shifting weight on that foot constantly whilst modulating the brakes, that is what makes it so difficult.
      See:, race car drivers. Especially rally do that modulation with their feet too. What they don't do is stand on and balance a vehicle with that foot at the same time.

      the course is not open to ride offside the competition.
      the mountainbikers have 3 days practise with a few runs.
      It was Gildstones firsrt ever participation. So goldstone did nit had much more practise. if there would be a moto dh race the riders could figure out the perfect süeed and lines and bring down the time, probably to the range of the record time.
      it comes all down to the course. A MTB has to ride every corner and technical feature on the limit. A moto can do them save and be up to race speed in a blink without losing much time.
      Jumps are easy for moto.
      Its all about the course. Few small changes and eather mtb or moto could let the other eat dust. I bet a moto would beat a mtb on hardline tasmania easy. dont see that on most uci worldcup tracks.

      @@eve-llblyat2576 you just said it yourself, the riders have 3 days each year to practice the course. That’s a fair bit of practice. Also, Johnny is fast, but far from the fastest enduro guy. He almost beat the fastest ever pro downhill guys time on that course, and on his first attempt. I do both sports, and I personally think moto is much harder. Also, jumping a mountain bike is much easier in my opinion than jumping a motor bike. Both incredible sports! Most moto guys are really good mountain bike riders as well, not visa versa. 🤷🏻‍♂️

      It’s nowhere near as much fun on a dirt bike. I’ve built a few dh tracks in my time and rode my 450 down one of them once, I was miles faster on the dh bike, on the enduro you’re constantly trying to get the thing slowed down. Probably didn’t help that having spent 6 months building the thing I really didn’t want to damage the track.

    Great example of why 300cc 2strokes are the bike of choice for the hard enduro discipline. A 450 4stroke has so much more engine inertia that would make slowing down on those hills way harder and hitting those super tight turns much more difficult. The 2 stroke has less moving parts in the engine helping with tighter turning and maneuvers. JW is a legend and that Beta is on point! Bring on Erzberg!!

If one top enduro rider with way less time on the course than the MTB competitors is already at podium pace I find it hard to believe that the dirt bikes aren't way quicker on the course.

      They do save a lot of time in all the accelerations of course. On every turn. Finish line acceleration alone probably saved him 10 seconds. I kept thinking how in earth MTBer can keep the speed if they ride faster than a moto.

    • @SnakePilot16
      @SnakePilot16 8 месяцев назад

      @@nikonuv6434 I imagine the MTB's are making their time at the top of the course in the tight flow sections through the woods. They don't lose time in the corners where the Johnny Walker had to slow with how tight the course is.
      Absolutely nuts how fast both sports are on this track but this pretty much puts to rest if MX/Hard Enduro riders are faster on the same course. If moto riders had the same amount of time on this course as the hardline guys we'd see a big gap in time.

    • @neilr4867
      @neilr4867 8 месяцев назад

      Yeah, that was achieved in a day. 10 seconds isn't much and the enduro guys would find it pretty quickly.

    • @SnakePilot16
      @SnakePilot16 8 месяцев назад

      @@neilr4867 Yeah that's pretty much how I see it also. The top hard enduro guys are crazy fast in tight and technical terrain. That 10 second gap would be gone in a few complete practice sessions.

    No way! 😮 I was sure it's some clickbait title/setup until the very last moment when he really was on the timed starting point. It's purely insane he was able to do that in general, and it just freaks me out he jumped every section so clean after just a few times rolling to the lip. And his corners! Wow! He was nailing all the course! This dude is a legend! Huge respect! He just pushed bandaries in riding dirt bikes to the whole world with this line! 🎉

    Great content! Looked like he's about to taka a fall several times. Absolutely great riding! Now take the motor of the moto and see how he accelerates out of the berms, straights and on the finish line where he most likely saved all the crucial time. Kept me thinking how in earth are downhillers able to keep the speed if they ride it faster than a moto. They must be much faster on the actual downnhill parts - like a lot because they lack so much on the acceleration.

  • @iokarus

    Massive respect for that. To turn up on your own without the benefit of the competition and the other riders and still pull it off. I ride both and i thought he would be a full minute behind on that course. No doubt in my mind that if you got 5 of the hard enduro field there for a weekend they would smash that 2.20
