- Nikolas Cruz purchased the rifle used to kill 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, days before the Feb 14, 2018, shooting. Michael Morrison, who owned a gun shop in the area, testified during Cruz's sentencing about the purchase of the weapon and what was added to the firearm after purchase.

From the Uber driver to the firearm dealer, I’d hate to be any of them. They did nothing wrong by doing their jobs but they have to live with the fact that their lives intertwined with that of a mass shooter.
Uber driver should have zero guilt. She could have known anything. If this idiot seller feels any guilt, 🔔 well, it was his fault, to a degree. That's why he's sad. It's sad how obvious that statement is and sad how many people do not understand it. A large amount of people on this thread.
This man must feel terrible for selling this gun to Cruz knowing now what Cruz did with it. Very hard to check on domestic violence and drug use. These are often not found in any background check.
Right? That gun seller might have drug use and domestic violence in his background, for all we know.
they don't care
That’s a lie. DV and reported drug use are found on Brady background checks. The government failing to report these incidents is different than the checks not catching them.
Research first. Opinion second.
Why would he feel terrible for that? It would be the same as if somebody sold a hammer from a hardware store and this guy bashed in people's heads with the hammer. The gun is just the same as the hammer and it's the person that dictates what is done with such tools.
Why would he feel terrible he just did his own job... The real person who needs to feel terrible is the one who doesn't get the background checking seriously
I have to agree with most comments here on the gun seller, Michael, if I got his name right, is not at fault. I too agree that he did what has to be done to filter out those who shouldn't be allowed to own a firearm. There's no way he can predict the future nor can control anyone before and after someone walks into his store. Same for the lady who drove Nikolas to the school. These people could've been any of us whether be you walking past him on the sidewalk or had once invited him over to your home to eat with your family. The fault falls on Nikolas and him alone.
Well said.
It wasn't the gun, it was Nikolas Cruz. Evil is definitely real in this world sadly.
Yep I hope he goes on offense and sues the hell outta the ppl that are putting him through this.
First of all, an AR15 is not a high powered rifle. A high powered rifle is a rifle that uses a 308winchester round. The AR15 is an intermediate sized cartridge. Having said that, Nikolas Cruz should be been red flagged as a prohibited person by one of the responding agencies dealing with his mental health issues. So many failures by so many and no one is taking responsibility.
The Defense attorney was trying to grasp on to something to put the blame on the gun seller but he could not.

You would perhaps if you read the list of possible side-effects...they are spelled out right there on wikipedia. Does emotional-blunting, violence, suicyde sound like some things that could make a person capable of something they normally otherwise perhaps wouldn't be?

That isn't a solution either. It's better and easier to stop this kind of violence by allowing adults in schools to protect themselves and the children in their care.
yup, when they need a separate hearing and all this malarchy, tax payer money and time being used up and for what? so we can read his youtube comments? like you realize this guy shot up a school, what further evidence do you need? did we really need to waste everyones time who interacted with him to hear their side of the story, like it literally doesnt matter or add anything, hearsay you could say. what, theyre gonna give him two life sentences instead of one? because thats helpful i bet. hes more so enjoying the fact him and his crimes are being paraded around like its a celebration.

Can we all just agree that this man is not guilty of anything he just sold a firearm to the wrong person horrible person
It’s horrible to see how this man became a victim also. When the people that are supposed to administer the system of law by carrying out background checks somewhere down the line mess up, not looking into everything properly, or not administrating the fact that he shouldn’t be able to get a firearm at the time of certain events that would prohibit him from getting a firearm, at some point you have to conclude that when people that administer the system don’t at all time do that, you really have no system at all.
True

Ar-15's are not used in the military the AR-15 came out for civilian use and then the military adopted it and made changes too it, if you where deployed you would've known this plus Ar-15's don't have selective fire like the M4A1 that you used in deployment.
@@alexpoore8140 you are wrong, the AR-15 was already used on the Military in the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1963 it comes from the design AR-10 I used in basic training the M16 Fort Benning Gergia

SO a background check does not include the person giving their social security number? How is that a background check? Seems to me this form is working on people being truthful, and we all know you can't treat people like that. People will lie to get what they want.
Although people don’t necessarily have to give their SSN. They do have profiles on everyone. They cross reference your name with your address and other factors. Also, it’s against the law to make lists of what people have, that’s why it’s a gray area. The idea is that the government shouldn’t be able to know what you have because they would be the ones who would confiscate your firearms. And we all know that governments love power and abuse it.
I'm not really trying to defend the form, as I'm sure it's not as in-depth as it should be, but how is self-reporting SSN not reliant on honesty? Isn't identity theft a thing?
Ya. You should probably figure out how these background checks actually work before giving your ignorant opinion….
SS#'s are optional but regardless the background is going to know who are and if there is any speculation, you will be delayed and possibly denied for purchase. SMH, ignorance brought to this reply.
How does a ss no. ensure honesty? Don't project your deceitfulness on everyone.
It really sucks for this guy sold that gun to this monster not knowing he was a monster.
I’m still sick of this misinformation in the video title. A standard AR15, including the on he used, fired a necked up 22 caliber bullet. It is illegal to hunt with it in some states because its considered too weak to take down game.
Yep...here in VA, you can't hunt deer, bear and elk with anything under .23.The term "high powered" has different meaning in different parts of the country. My Pennsyltucky side of the family uses it to mean center fire, that's all. That's how I grew up understanding it, based on that. Nothing really to do with power or caliber, just center fire.
@@madddog6790 pretty sure .308 isn't even considered high power...
Military is going to 6.8. Plenty of veterans talked to me about shooting people 4-5 times and still not going down. Meant to be a varmint gun. A battle rifle is considered 30 cal and up. Yes people hunt with ak’s with heavier bullet. High powered considered anything above 22lr. According to gun ranges
You won’t get a through and through clean shot with 556, they tumble so bad that the military classified wounds in Vietnam from the public. I figure they don’t want you aiming for a deers heart just to end up sending the bullet sideways out his ass
They call it high powered rifle now 🤣🤣🤣
The title of this video is ridiculous. A .223 is not a “high-powered” rifle. It’s a .22 caliber which is one of the smallest rifle calibers in the world. So many people are clueless about guns.
@@Psyminds The term "high powered rifle" is not referring to magazine capacity. It's about caliber size. Words mean things.

Exactly. It's common sense, this guy as a seller did nothing wrong.
He seems like a nice man. I hope he’s doing okay. It has to be hard to deal with what happened. It really isn’t his fault.
Edit: I was just making a statement on how I feel bad for this man having to be tied into this case. And even though it isn’t his fault, most people would feel some guilt anyway. It was not an invitation for people to argue about how they view him. He is just a man who was doing his job, he is not at fault for what cruz did. Stop pointing blame at anyone but Cruz. Cruz is the one who decided to shoot up this school, the person who sold him the weapon did everything legal and did not know he would do this.
" It really isn’t his fault'. You're correct, however it is the fault of The American Constitution, for allowing every Tom, Dick and Dirty Harry to carry a firearm. It's The 21st Century, not The Wild West.
