    I think a video about the type of modulation pedals used in doom would be pretty cool.

      @singularity360 9 месяцев назад +4

      You can literally use any modulation type pedals. Delay, reverb, tremolo, vibe, chorus, flange etc etc. Buy some used pedals and experiment.

      Info is hard to come by on this it seems. When I try to find stoner/doom bands on equipboard, and their gear, the distortion/fuzz effects are always there. But I know there is phaser/flanger on these albums but nothing is listed on the guitarists page. I've always wondered if everyone is using an MXR Phaser 90 (or some variation) or if its all different types of phasers. There has to be some common modulation pedals in the genre the way the Big Muff is a staple.

    • @obgog4687
      @obgog4687 9 месяцев назад

      @@PearlJamaholic you can't go wrong with an mxr phaser, they are classics for a reason. Personally a fan of the phase 95 bc you can get alot of different sounds out of it

    I think a video discussing vocal effects would interesting. Doom often has some seriously effected vocals all the way back to Ozzy, but its not talked much about.

    • @FuzzlordEffects

      That would make a great video! Any pedals/effects you think would work well for that video?

      @@FuzzlordEffects I know he used a Harmonizer always during his solo years. Especially live. It was whatever the most expensive one was. Maybe Eventide? Can't remember the name now but it was super important even back then. He wouldn't have sounded good live. It was like a member of the band Lol.

    • @gooseabuse
      @gooseabuse 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@FuzzlordEffects Well doublers and time based effects are really common, Mike Scheidt was talking about that when you interviewed him. Ozzy used a Leslie on planet caravan and I think various kinds of modulation are commonly used in Doom. Jus Oborn distorted his vocals with a guitar amp for Dopethrone and I know that JHS colorbox is a popular in other genres for adding distortion to vox.

    great presentation 👍i never knew that fuzz pedals were so important to this style of music, as i myself grew up on the 80s ibanez tube screamer pedal plugged into a marshall jcm 800 half stack sound, which was pretty much the standard sound of 80s metal. Another good pedal that might work good for doom metal is the boss hm2, which has a much scooped overblown gain tone that the metal zone pedal doesn't have. rare to find hm 2s, but theyre still around. Would be great to know also what the top high gain amps for doom metal are, as Marshalls are becoming old news, cuz there are so many different amp names nowadays. Thank You

    The Dronemaster is my favorite pedal I currently own since it's super versatile and I love using it as a boost for a high gain amp or just going full Windhand with it and diming the gain and volume and setting the tone completely dark. I feel bad I don't use it as much as I'd like since doom isn't the main genre I play and it doesn't get as tight as I need for my more thrashy sludge riffs but I still love it and I'll never sell it haha

    A Muff for sure, sometimes I prefer the big-ass-box NY one, but usually Sovtek Deluxe or EQD Hizumitas (and a Bass Muff for bass). All of those Muffs tend to sound best boosted by a distortion pedal, Turbo Rat and Boss HM-2w being my favs. Also, I have couple of those Boss FZ-2 clones, inc. the Behringer one. I found Behringer's "secret" mode the best, but actually got other one for the solos, set in The Secret Mode II: between fuzz 2 and the boost. Other pedals for my doom, sludge, stoner, desert, drone -shit: Acapulco Gold (should be one of the first pedals on the board, since it reacts best the guitars knobs), Ghost Echo reverb before most of the dirt section, Black Arts Revelation SuperBass for cranking the amp deeper than hell, Black Country Customs (Laney) Tony Iommi Boost for... guess what? EHX Freeze for the endless drones.
    You may lol for my MXR Tom Morello Power 50 od after Acapulco and Orange Kongpressor, but It's fx-loop it actually fuckin' great for boosting my Geezer Butler Crybaby, Qtron, Ghost Echo and EVH Phase. Boss eq GE-7 is more than handy, and OC-5 octaver is a must. In the fx-loop of the amp I usually only use Zvex Lofi Junky and/or Fender Pinwheel rotary while dooming around.
