As someone who happens to front a doom band, I’m gonna make a song with the advice of this video and present it to my bandmates and see if they notice anything different than usual

Doom is such a neat genre tho. It's the minimalist in a genre full of maximum. Also that song was fire.
Agreed, although this song was actually maximalist in its own way. Instrumentation is more paired down to the essence of metal, but vocally we get a choir and a chant toward the end, which is something straight out of the Epica maximalist playbook!
I don`t think it is really minimalist I think some of the stuff is super technical or am I misinterpreting your full maximum? Like extremist?
Yea pare metal back to the essentials and then crank what’s left to the absolute max.
The thing which I feel raises Page Fire over other parody, is the fact that the group absolutely understands the material they are mocking. This is always evident by the absolute banger of an example song they produce at the end. It's like, you can't truly take the piss out of a genre until you love the genre completely.

When you guys talked about the traditional doom bands like Candlemass and St. Vitus, you missed Trouble. They were also very important to the scene.

@LeatherRebel75 💯💯💯 it’s almost blasphemy! Considering was definitely one of the first (if not maybe THE first) of this genre. If you don’t know Trouble, then you don’t know (doom) metal at all, period!!!
Yeah they were great, and weren’t satanic either.
I never actually dig too much on this genre in my life, but as times are getting faster, I proportionally started to like the genre more and more. The Dopesmoker album is now my go to when I'm taking long walks.

Doom metal works surprisingly well will folk elements. Gives the whole piece a dark fantasy ambience, like twisted folk tale full of despair and grief. Give a listen to druun(latvian band btw) if y'all interested
no matter how we try, black sabbath will always sounds darker and yet somehow more funk/motown than any of us ever will
holy shit you didn't give Witchfinder General enough credit though. their eponymous song has the greatest guitar tone of all time
That's one of the things I love about doom, sludge and stoner. You can sound brutally heavy and still have an ass-shaking funkiness to it

Flesh Of The Stars is my current favorite Doom band, started off like the usual modern style but got more progressive as the albums went on.
Also, fun fact about that Candlemass music video: Dead from Mayhem is in it.

If you like SLudge Metal, you should try Acid Bath, they are super underrated but kind of a classic in the sludge metal scene!

One of my favorite genre 's, some of my favorite Doom and Sludge bands are KYPCK, Crowbar, Woods Of Ypres, Acid Bath, Isole, Confessor, My Dying Bride and Katatonia.

My favourites have always been the old Cathedral (Forrest of Equilibrium and Soul Sacrifice), diSEMBOWELMENT, and My Dying Bride (especially their old stuff). The last being the most melodic. Of new bands Konvent is a big favourite!

Pentagram is my favorite early doom metal band other than Black Sabbath of course. I got Last Daze Here on CD when I was around 13 and it absolutely blew me away. Electric Wizards Dopethrone will to me always be the absolute pinnacle of Doom though.

I wasn't really into doom in the past, but this summer I saw Amenra, Pallbearer, Ahab and Swallow the Sun at Brutal Assault. That definitely changed my opinion :D Especially Amenra, HOLY SHITFUCK that band is good!

Gotta love a nice thick fuzzy tone that can just drone for days! A tone and style that can be mixed with all kinds of stuff. I have so much damn high gain fuzz since getting into these genres. You will be surprised by the crazy and psychedelic sounds you can get from high gain fuzz, especially if you have some weird pedals.
