Thank you!!!! My computer just started sounding like a turbo engine, and I dscovered that Norton had switched it over to it's own settings at some point instead of 'balanced'. Just putting it back on 'balanced' has reduced the noise considerably! Thank you so, so much!

And after this your Laptop runs 25-50% slower coz you disable the Boost Clock on Intel and AMD CPUs.
Ryzen 5800H Max. Boost Clock Up to 4.4GHz
    Base Clock 3.2GHz
    1. Clean your Fans and Cooler
    2. New Thermal paste on the GPU and CPU
    3. Universal x86 Tuning Utility

I luv Lenovo laptops, I bought this for my partner and this annoying fan made me to go and return the laptop tomorrow. With your solutions, I may consider to keep this great laptop. I dunno why they used cheap fans which make airplane take-off noise. I have HP and never never have had this issue. But thanks to youu.

  • @TypeScriptTV

I noticed that my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga has a BIOS setting for the fan noise. You have to select "Config", "Power", "Intel SpeedStep", "Adaptive Thermal Management" and then select "Balanced" which will keep your fan noise low but throttle your CPU if necessary.

I had the fans nearly constantly noisy on my Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro 16 and sometimes fans running full blast without any good reason.
    CPU AMD Ryzen7 5800H with integrated Radeon graphics / RAM 16 Gb / SSD 512 Gb / Windows 10
I’ve now managed to get laptop most often 100% quiet by changing the following:
    In Advanced Power settings:
1/ Processor power management / Max processor state: reduce gradually to 99, 95, 90, 85%, etc. I’m currently on 80%
2/ Cooling policy: set to Passive (instead of Active).
3/ I have not currently changed the Boost option in the Power options.
My laptop is now finally 100% quiet most of the time instead of the opposite.

Instead of limiting the CPU usage install Ryzen controller. It lets you set power and temperature limits.

Thanks. Similar to this is to switch from "Balanced" to "Best power efficiency" in SYSTEM > POWER. I am trying which hack is better. Best power efficiency is very strong (no matter if max setting is 100%).

Just changing it to 99% did it for me. Generally for CPUs that small change can limit the turbo mode of processors.

  • @vhooloogmail
    @vhooloogmail 2 года назад +3

@poolarity - any idea why this only happens on the ideapad? I have a Lenovo think pad with 100% processor max power and it does not have a fan issue. But the ideapad lol.... Before reducing it to 68% it was constant fan noise. So, obviously the ideadpads have some settings which are not correct to kick off the fan so much with default settings. But now, after reducing max processor power on the ideapad to 68%, it is much much quieter.

My CPU is at 40 degrees celsius tho. 100% fan speed 100% of the time. Cooling mode in BIOS is set to power saver. Either something is telling my fan to spin at full speed, or it's not being controlled at all.

Now what you want to do is turn on your laptop with that there button, and wait until the program called "Windows" appears on your screen, then you want to type in your password with the keyboard and wait for the program to actually load. Now once you are in there you will need to use your finger connected to your hand to move the "mouse" around - don't worry, its not a real mouse that eats cheese, so you are safe. Now point that there mouse..... YAWN @ the 3 minute video that says "go to control panel, go to power settings, and reduce the maximum processor power".
