Thank you, thank you. I love my new Lenovo laptop but the fan ran too often and was really loud. I followed your instructions finding my Battery and Plugged in settings set at 100%. Thank you!! I got the ideapad L340 Gaming (for minimal gaming, nothing intense) and even at 3% CPU usage, the fan was going crazy. I haven’t even had this laptop for a week and I was getting ready to send it back and get a different brand.

Hi, I have a Lenovo 17" L340 IdeaPad that's two years old. I noticed the battery is starting to fail (losing its charge faster) and the cooling fan is always running.
I do know the battery in my budget level IdeaPad L340 17" is the same battery used in smaller Lenovo IdeaPads and the battery is a little too small for a 17" Laptop screen.
I'm about to order a new replacement battery but if I may ask... what setting did you set your CPU usage at that helped to stop the fan from always running?
BTW, I'm not a 'gamer' but just use my Laptop to bounce around the internet; FB videos, mail, RUclips etc. Thanks for any info, Ray

Better question is there a powershell script you can run to easily swap between them. So for example create a shortcut to each powershell script A) no noise B) higher noise gaming. So you can just double click them. Cause nobody will want to manually do this every time. Great video though/informational.

Thanks so much for this - tt worked instantly on my Lenovo laptop, which has been driving me nuts! I don't understand quite why this can't happen automatically, ie why the CPU doesn't draw as much power as is needed, rather than running constantly at full blast, but I'm very grateful for this fix. I set mine to 48%, as per your video. I might try increasing the % to see at what point the fan kicks back in. Or there again, I might just leave well alone!

It doesn't really fix the problem though. Just kind of "hides it". For instance.. if you use programs like Adobe Illustrator in the office you will still need more CPU power cause ~48% just ain't gonna cut it. So you literally CAN'T get rid of that noise. Ever. Lenovo sucks.

READ THIS! IN MY P73, IF I LEFT CLICK ON THE BATTERY ICON, LOWER RIGHT, I CAN SET PERFORMANCE TO HI, MIDIUM OR LOW. FAN LOUDNESS DROPS ACORDINGLY.
So when watching a video, I can turn it all the way down, and FANS GOES VERY QUIET. If I use Autocad and Photoshop, I go to max performance and loud fan (NO escape form this). >>>>IMPORTANT NOTE: If you set you setting to low performance and do heavy stuff, the computer may turn off due to overheating. SO it is important to set the fan according to your needs. Not a perfect solution, but it is like having a ON/OFF switch for the fan. Lenovo should have a much smarter fan control that knows when fans needs to go full blast, and when it needs to be quiet. Hope this helps.
