FIX for Dell, HP, Lenovo laptop fan problem. Fan always on and loud.

  • Since this problem has to do with a Windows setting, I am thinking that this may be a problem for laptops other than my Dell. Give it a try, won't hurt and easy to switch back. Very minimal technical knowledge required.
    Windows 10 in video but for all others you can find the power settings in Control Panel.
    Let me know if it worked for you.
    If you laptop also runs hot, it might also have to do with poor design or blocking the air vents. Your laptop needs air flow so don't block the vents and check out my other video on how to improve airflow.

    Genius!!! Thank you for posting. Bought the Legion Y7000-1060 3yrs ago and had the same problem out of the box. A BIOS update seemed to solve the problem, but the past few months the fan full speed constantly. Appreciate you posting this.

    OMG!!! Thank you SO much. I've gone through fixing this issue several times through internet instructions and it worked in the past. Now that I upgraded to Windows 11, the fan started again and I didn't remember how to fix the problem. It drives one CRAAAAAAZY. I tried your first solution with raising the pack of the computer but it didn't help. Now I found this follow up video, followed the steps and "voila"!!! Fan stopped once I changed to 99% and hit APPLY. Practically instantly. Will save this video for when this happens again! :) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

Just one doubt, Is there any heating happens inside the lap top and which can lead to damage of PC, Earlier the fan was running continuously with hot air expelling, Now it is not, My doubt is how the heat is being removed or is it not getting heated up

    • @vthoughtproject
      @vthoughtproject  2 года назад +1

      This is probably the latest I have ever responded but I apologize. No need to worry because we have not turned the fans off. What this does is it tells the computer not to use 100% of the processor every single time you run any task. The processor is one of the things that cause the heat and subsequently the fans to run.

      Hello Mitesh, the power and management has two types of settings. One for battery and one for plug. Make sure the settings I've told you in video are set for both. Also you can try different percentages just to experiment to see what works. Windows drives me up the wall nowadays, I hope this helps.

    is it safe even for gaming ?

    • @vthoughtproject
      @vthoughtproject  3 года назад

      So for gaming it is a different story. You might want to run your processor at 100%. Also most gaming scenarios will generate a lot of heat and so the fans will be running quite a bit. Similar to servers whos fans are on 24/7.

    Hi! What if under Advanced Power settings there is no processor management?

    • @vthoughtproject
      @vthoughtproject  3 года назад

      Maybe it has to do with the version of windows you have. Without actually seeing it, I would suggest just click around in there and see if you can find it or something similar.

    1week ago I have bought hp, fq2071tu,,,so the problem is that the fan is on after using of 20m,,,so there is any option that the will start after using of 1h???

    • @vthoughtproject
      @vthoughtproject  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for your question Sourav. It is important to never alter the fan setting or timings. The problem is not the fan but rather the computer overheating from overworking. For some reason Microsoft has settings for Windows that cause your computer to overwork when it is not necessary. So unless you fix this problem, if you stop your fans from turning on when they are supposed to, you will fry your computer. Try the settings change in the video and see if that helps.

      But if your fan is making noise then . You have to clean your fan .

      Fully dismantling it. And then clean and oil it.
      90% chance your problem will resolve.

    • @vthoughtproject
      @vthoughtproject  3 года назад

      You should NEVER manually lower your fan speeds. 99% of the time, the fans run because your computer is getting too hot. If you lower your fan speed without lowering the heat being generated, you will destroy your computer. My fix in the video (if it works for you) stops your processor from being overworked and that stops the processor from getting too hot, which then stops the fans from going crazy.
