most of the original devs and artists left, so they tried hiring new people to try and recreate the old animation, failed, and now they have this new animation style which has less effort put into it.

More importantly imagine getting to earth to save your family and you meet a group of people going "cool you've got a gun, come help us kill five jerks at Disney World they won't let us ride the Diablo Ride."
For someone who has quote "trained for this kind of thing [their] whole life." they sure did forget:
- the three laws of motion
- the fragility of their equipment
- to not let go of their equipment
- harnessing a basic tether
I'm pretty sure those boots are reactionless, which would make it the two laws of motion. But a reactionless drive would make space travel super easy. So why would they just leave the colony for dead? And if it's not a reactionless drive, why doesn't the ship have gigantic boosters full of fuel?
Don't forget about waiting until the outer doors close to take off your helmet
and you seem to forget much more important things:
- Training is COMPLETELY different from real experiences.
- This is Juno's first time off Mars, AND she's alone.
- She's strongly distracted by the thought of having to leave her entire family behind to die, while she travels somewhere she has never been before.

I think since they're all OW scientists, they already have some sort of connection to Athena anyway. They probably prepped the ship with OW specs so Athena could easily pick it up. That's my guess haha 😅

this just doesn’t feel like a proper overwatch cinematic, like I always felt overwatch took its universe quite seriously, making fantasy science answers to their tech and always delving into the real world complications of having an “overwatch” agency, but this feels like it didn’t even try. It feels so childish, like, it’s space 101 - that you always tether yourself to the ship externally?? I get she’s a nervous wreck and clearly inexperienced but she doesn’t even talk to control or Athena with any sort of “official” sounding language? I’d have thought someone so nervous would be trying to use all of the lingo she’s been training with.
It just makes this whole thing so much more unbelievable.

Even Yu-Gi-Oh knows lore is half their product so they made an animation studio “Konami Animation” to showcase their stories. Tons are in the works right now. Why doesn’t Overwatch do similar?

The cinematic really makes me want an Overwatch series. If they aren't going to do PvE and explore the story that way they might as well give us story through other media methods. They are definitely missing out on a big market by not doing much with the lore.

I understand where you are coming from but Id prefer that they go back to their old 3d style cinematics that really pull you in and make you invested in the characters and I would also prefer that they would put the time and money of making a series into fixing core game issues
Let me get this straight. The terraforming project on Mars has created giant dust storms that cover the planet. These storms are so powerful they can lift Martian boulders into the upper atmosphere. And Juno is taking off during one of these storms? Or do the storms just never stop and there wasn’t a better opportunity for launch?

I assume that for many missions for example in real life you need to wait for the launch window/ trajectory and in this case for the cinematic waiting for when the earth and mars are the closest to each other I am not a space wiz I am severely under educated about these things and I probably am wrong but thats my assumption

Almost every Animation that's not a CGI Short (Most origin stories, and now with OW2 all the Collab trailers as well) is animated by an outside studio. Not by Blizzard. Most studios operate the same way, often even using 2-3-4 different Animation vendors who all Animate in different styles. It's just because Blizz animates their own CGI Shorts that it makes people think they animate all of their promotional material in-house.
Recently they've been having a London based Studio called The Line animate stuff for them (Cowboy Bebop, Transformers, Porsche, Venture Hero Trailer, etc) but this one seems to have a different style (3D + 2D) so they might have hired a different studio to make this 👍🏻.
I mean 99% of the short is CGI and theres only sparks of 2d animation over the short duration

I liked the old animation style better because it was a similar animation style to the actual game. This one was written kind of weird... she broke her own boot by kicking a rock, shot herself into space by trying to fix her ship with a gun, didn't use a space tether, and fixed her boots randomly by clicking them together. The writers didn't seem to try very hard with this one, she looks incompetent. The low fps animation style similar to the dragon prince is also my least favorite style of animation so that one is definitely subjective, it kind of gives me a headache. Always happy to see the effort though.
Written by AI and animated by interns because of budget cuts. This company is just a shell of its former self after the original artists left after OW2 and then more got fired

Even if they're cell shaded animations it's enough to get players hooked.

She took her helmet of before the hatch was fully closed and before room pressurization could happen. Unless There is a two stage airlock on that ship that they just conveniently didn't show.
I miss the old hero trailers with proper story cinematics. Not to say this isn't great but we were really spoilt with the old trailers

Or was there even an airlock? If you look at the shadows and the angle of the light, it does not look like artificial light, and even if it is, the light source must take the whole interior of the "airlock" area and be very weak. It looked pretty much like sunlight to me.
How didn't all the air escape? How didn't the vacuum take hold of everything inside the ship? How didn't she drown?
I've so many questions, though it's good to see some animatics again.
i think space airlock door already closed, what we seeing is second interior door closing. I'm more surprised that her boot fixed itself by smacking it, dad did not said he will miss her, and her suit can only hold 1 min of air???

I mean it isn't bad, but wow. The quality dropped HARD. And barely anyting really happened in the trailer, we don't actually know anything about Juno aside from being a suprisingly anxious wreck for an astronaut and being an astronaut.
Hero design quality has been SCREAMING downwards since OW1. How did we go from Moira and Sigma and Wrecking Ball to "idk she's like a cute space girl with a gun lol"? So lazy and boring in a franchise that feels like it's trying to create Pixar.

Out of all the animation styles they have done for their shorts, 2d for Mauga and Doom, 3d for many of them, this one is probably my favorite. It looks like a mix of 3d and 2d and I feel like this animation style fits overwatch perfectly. It’s unique, and it fits with the characters in game portraits. If they ever do make a show, I really hope they animate it in this style of animation.

The enviorment looks great, but the 'rock stuck in ship' is a bit cliche for a story, and the face could use more angles/detail to match the enviorment, but the voice acting did great! Juno's mom losing her composure near the end really tugged on heart strings. Overall, sure it could be better (kinda looks fanmade?) But I am SO HAPPY to get cinematics!!!!!!!

@@zynxrs i get that, but you shouldnt have to be told "remember your training". In a situation like that, thats what training is for. Im just saying that whole tense situation seemed kinda forced to showcase what she can do.
@@cam_rellim_bsp6907 anxiety disorders make your mind go a million miles a sec lol it’s pretty common for us ppl with anxiety disorders to freeze under pressure and start to spiral into a panic.

@@cam_rellim_bsp6907 I mean I assumed she was panicking because this was the first time she actually went out into space and she's also leaving her home and so that could cause someone to forget everything at that moment. Ever practice combos in a fighting game and then immediately forget why you were in the training mode for an hour? But there are definitely still some issues with the story for this cinematic and I did find it kind of ridiculous she just had to kick her shoe back to alignment lol.
