Psalm 73:1-3...16-17: Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. 2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped. 3 For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. ... 16 But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, 17 until I went into the sanctuary of God; THEN I DISCERNED THEIR END.
Guys and girls both tend to get caught up in focusing on whether or not they could rather than whether or not they should (Yes, I'm ripping off Jurassic Park. Come at me) Both often get so caught up in trying to win the game that they often don't bother wondering whether or not the prize was truly worthy of competition. Even so, as far as the order of who gets married, I think a lot of marriages end because the one who got married first sees how the other "friends" ended up with better spouses and now their spouse isn't good enough. Not everyone cares in whether or not their spouse is truly the best out of all the other spouses, but they certainly better not be the least. I think that's why the last one to get married typically takes so much longer than the rest of the friends. Because they have a mindset of "I have waited too long to settle for anything LEAST." However, I am fairly convinced that women are more prone to such competition (spousal comparison) than men.
So, local church people gossiped about a local homeschool co-op, calling the ladies "catty". Okay, I thought, guess I'll find out if it's true or not. I don't think the gossiper realized they were telling me that the ladies in question were sinful (and probably unrepentantly so), oops.
It’s literally a lie. By asserting that they’d win, they ARE showing that they’re viewing themselves in competition with the other person. It is seeing things as zero sum. Why can’t they both win at life? Why can’t she be fine with losing? Why is getting the guy defined as winning?
Sin of pride. It’s also unfair to treat a guy you’re not interested in as some pawn just to know you can. The other comments probably covered this more clearly, but not guarding your heart and giving in to the temptation to compete is where the sin begins
@@cosmictreason2242 Isn't Doug fine with competition, though? I had a friend who was interested in a girl, but she was showing interest in me. I wasn't interested in her, but it was plain to me that if we competed for her, I'd win. Is that a sin to acknowledge?
Doug is so committed to the honesty of a single take that he kept in the part where he lost his place and reread a line
"Posting up under the basket" I love it!
A cat fight can be much more deadly than a dude fight.
I love these videos! They are SO SO SO needed. Thank you ❤️

Not particularly clear. Why would it be sin (at the end of the video) to say you're not interested in competing, but if you did compete, you'd win?
I think it's because she'd only be competing out of envy
