This was a 1977 performance....BUT Ann Wilson can STILL belt those high pitches that she was doing in the 70's...They are ONE of a Kind....Ann and Nancy Wilson....HEART LIVES ON......ROCK ON Ladies.........

@@mlhowe67 Yes, for those of us who grew up in, and closely followed (age-wise) that era, the reference was well understood. Sadly, the reference holds true, generation after generation and war after war. However, the desire to put death aside, forget for the moment and make love, with tender ferocity, is a human trait and a lovely way to reclaim life...and possibly create it. Decades ago (I'm old) two women friends confessed that the death of parent/in-law led to "increased activity" with their spouses, resulting in the birth of their first child. "You kept me alive with your sweet flowing love", in my friends' cases would have been "We made new life with our sweet flowing love". Whatever, one of my favorite songs and performances!
Yes, this and Magic Man were the sound track to my coming of age. If you know what I mean 😅 This was the best Iine-up of the band imho. Fisher, Leese, Desrosier, the iconic Wilson sisters. No one did it better. I'm gIad I got to see them in the 80's at the Garden State Arts Center in Jersey. A friend was working backstage and got us tickets. Fantastic show. Cheap Trick opened for them, and I love Cheap Trick but Heart bIew them away. Hands down. These songs take me back to my teenage years and great memories with good friends. ❤

I have seen Heart multiple times over the decades. They are not just among the greatest women rockers of all time... They are among the greatest ROCKERS of all time. Thanks for all your great work Ladies! You are a national treasure.
Ann has one of the best voices ever. Her technique, breathing, those amazing pipes. Such great original rock. Harmonies with Nancy, great guitar work. Just awesome.
Absolutely! There are many other terrific female voices, but no one has the range and versatility of Ann! And I know it's subjective, but I really think Ann is underrated. I'll take her hands down over Janice, Stevie, and Pat. The only one who comes close in my mind is Grace.
Anne Wilson's voice in this recording is sublime, and Nancy's guitar playing is as well. The backing players and vocals are also awesome. Just an incredible performance.
This is an insane master piece by Heart with Nancy's guitar solo introduction, Ann's unbelievable high notes, and the two electronic guitarists' final dual.
@happytownesvanzandt AbsoIuteIy, Roger Fisher and Howard Leese, they all made it excellent. This was the best line-up by far. I mean Ann & Nancy always sound good but this was the most creative, hard rocking version of the band and my personal favorite. They were the total package. I love Magic Man too. And their version of Stairway To Heaven at the Kennedy Center tribute to Led Zeppelin was electric. If you haven't listened to it yet you must. The 7 min some longer version. It is a masterpiece 🏆🥇❤
The iron I pumped while listening to Ann & Nancy in the 1970's helped gain me a full football scholarship to an awesome college which gave me a wonderful life. Ann & Nancy helped motivate me to afford 6 kids & 13 grand children (so far).
I love how everything is dark when nancy plays the intro and everyone appears out of nowhere when everything starts showing the spotlight on them. CHILLS
Nancy Wilson being an complete BADASS here. Playing her intro like a BOSS, perfectly navigating the ebb and flow between fanciful beauty and powerful aggression, before launching the band attack like an absolute BEAST ..Kickass. 🤘
I recorded off the FM station a live concert from Boston on that tour, and at the end of that EPIC acoustic intro, Nancy held that final E chord while Ann yelled into the mic "YOU STILL HERE?" The crown went nuts just as Nancy hit that Am to start the song. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
OMG !!! Everytime I see this I'm blown out of my mind, and that happens during the intro of the piece !!! Nancy Wilson floors me every..single..time !!! Then Ann starts belting it out and together they make us cry !!! All you can do is hold on and enjoy the ride. And when it's over, pick yourself up off the floor and say THANK YOU !! 🥀👍🏻🙋🏻♀️
One of the most iconic intros to a rock song in music history and Nancy kills ie every time. The additional improvisation on this version is excellent. One of my favorite Heart songs! Well done Nancy and Anne!
It’s sometimes hard to believe that there was a time when NEW MUSIC was coming out that sounded like THIS. Almost 50 years ago. This song gets me so amped up haha. It rocks so hard!
Proof that I was born at the right time to witness these women in rock, who are some of the best to ever take a stage…Heart will always be a phenomenal band
I'm only 41 ...but Nancy Wilson Is the sexiest woman on the planet!!! Damn those skills! And she's still georgious!! Mad respect to the wilson sisters 👏!!!!!
Love those harmonics! Impressive how she makes a guitar sound like a damm piano! 😮😮 Back when you actually had to play.. 😅😅 Feel sorry for todays music in general..
Saw Heart in Austin, Texas decades ago, and Ann sang Unchained Melody A cappella. The delivery was stupendously flawless. It was the most beautiful love song I had ever heard. She lives in my heart to this day, and I am 76 yo.
There is No one who has the power and control of Ann Wilson. She is the bar by which all other singers try to attain. NO one can wail like Ann. Ann and Nancy freakin Rock!!! Loved Heart as skinny 14 year old kid at the Bad Animals tour in 1988. A few years on and a little less hair and I still love them. Desire walks on!
Yea he is a great guitarist ! He was in a bad position in the band ! Drummer and he both liked Nancy . No win situation! You get all them emotions going and I guess I can see where he wigged out ! The original band was dynamic though!!! Love Heart !!!
AbsoIuteIy, Fisher & Howard Leese, they all added to the band and this was the best line up by far. Great sound, creativity and they could rock !! With the Wilson sisters up front, they were the total package.
In 1977, these acts also had songs on the Billboard top 100. The Bay City Rollers, Shaun Cassidy, Rose Royce, KC and the Sunshine Band, and David Soul. There were ALWAYS musical acts that had some degree of success through good marketing despite a shortage of talent. Pick any year since the beginning of popular music, and that's true. We just don't remember all the forgettable, plastic manufactured acts.
@@OTCRock4one It goes much deeper than just auto tune. The drum beats can now be moved to be in computer perfect time and then drums sounds replaced with recordings from other drummer. It happens all the time and it is why most drums now sound the same.
Thanks for sharing - great post. Unsure why folks keep qualifying Ann Wilson as the greatest “female” rock singer… I can’t think of a single rock vocalist of ANY sex that even comes close. Vocal range, power, great songs, great song writer, and undying, fierce commitment to ROCK and ROLL for 50+ years. She is still growing as a performer. Most of her peers settled or gave up decades ago. Rock on Queen ❤❤❤
Some time within the last 10 years or so, I got to see Nancy shred the acoustic guitar like that. Crazy to think she was doing that since before I was born! Legend!
This was my generation...good memories. 45 years later, i have a different appreciation to the pure quality of their delivery platform. They went from VS to VSOP.
I was hatched in Dec 77... And my folks were young... Mom was 18, Dad was 21. I had the displeasure with growing up pretty poor.. But i had the pleasure and ADVATAGE and LOVE for this era... My folks taught me well. I rememeber my house smelling like Sandlewood, Jasmine, Marijuana, and the slight essence of acoustic guitars...both played. We may not have had much, but we had music. And this song reminds me of that era.. Then the 80's hit, and Video did, in fact, kill the radio star. The times can change the music, shit all over the industry, leave a trail of non talent along the way. But they can't take my memories! THIS was music... And theres still good music. But going unnoticed.
Saw them December 1976 given free tickets at university for victoria theatre gig. Played all Dreamboat Annie, had a break then played most of album again. Me and my mates had never heard of them before and were just gobsmacked. Truly a stunning night.
So many bands from this era fall into the category "There will never be another like them again". I'm 54 and I give a shout out to all from My time "We had the greatest times to grow up in, didn't We".
@ron smith I can't argue with that. At My age I could hear them on the AM radio but You could see them live in they're hay day's. You truly did have it luckier.
@@roxannerice247 Agreed ! All I had in Minnesota was My walls filled with pictures of cars from Cali torn out of Hot Rod magazine wishing I lived in California (When it was a cool place to live). I'm jealous for sure.
@dieselrotor yes it was an awesome place to grow up. It was so different back then. I'm definitely thankful that I got to grow up in such a cool place. I pretty much saw all of the awesome bands of that time. I loved it.
This band, with this lineup, could kick any other band's ass down the staircase, with a few exceptions, of course. Deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with all the bigs.
There is nothing like Nancy Wilson launching into those familiar chords with her hair blowing in the wind. That’s rock kids.
That's rock? I thought it was gangster rap. Thanks for educating me.
Don’t forget that awesome kick!

Absolutely! There are many other terrific female voices, but no one has the range and versatility of Ann! And I know it's subjective, but I really think Ann is underrated. I'll take her hands down over Janice, Stevie, and Pat. The only one who comes close in my mind is Grace.
@@LzCoda I guess you've never heard of Annie Haslam...
Pat Benetar anyone? This is still good tho.
Roger Fisher's work on this song is just excellent.
The Hijinx interlude is awesome too!
Man this performance is on fire. It doesn't get better than this and the intro gives me chills, still.
Saw them on this 78 tour in Regina, Saskatchewan. So amazing to relive that here! Heart ❤ sums it up.
Besides the genius of the performers, this is absolutely the sexiest song in music history. The unabashed expression of a woman in thrall to love.
Insanely high quality vocals, how were people so good at music back then?
Dang that intro was amazing
One of the most iconic intros to a rock song in music history and Nancy kills ie every time. The additional improvisation on this version is excellent. One of my favorite Heart songs! Well done Nancy and Anne!
Ann Wilson one of the best female singers then and NOW !!!
It’s sometimes hard to believe that there was a time when NEW MUSIC was coming out that sounded like THIS. Almost 50 years ago. This song gets me so amped up haha. It rocks so hard!
Ann and Nancy Wilson.
The undisputed Queens of rock and roll!
That kick was some of the hardest shit I’ve ever seen
I've always loved the way she does that!
It's still crazy that one is a legendary acoustic player and the other is a legendary vocalist
Proof that I was born at the right time to witness these women in rock, who are some of the best to ever take a stage…Heart will always be a phenomenal band
What a legendary intro
I'm only 41 ...but Nancy Wilson Is the sexiest woman on the planet!!! Damn those skills! And she's still georgious!! Mad respect to the wilson sisters 👏!!!!!
Love those harmonics! Impressive how she makes a guitar sound like a damm piano! 😮😮 Back when you actually had to play.. 😅😅 Feel sorry for todays music in general..
The songwriting, musicianship, and presentation are superb. This truly is a masterpiece.
I've been listening to this masterpiece for over 40 years, and it still brings tears to my eyes. The lyrics will hold truth through the ages.
Saw Heart in Austin, Texas decades ago, and Ann sang Unchained Melody A cappella. The delivery was stupendously flawless. It was the most beautiful love song I had ever heard. She lives in my heart to this day, and I am 76 yo.
Nancy's guitar playing and Ann's voice are absolutely exquisite.
This song is iconic. Real masterclass.. And that Vocal is one of the best female rock vocal ever..
I never tire of hearing Nancy Wilson belting out these classics ❤
There is No one who has the power and control of Ann Wilson. She is the bar by which all other singers try to attain. NO one can wail like Ann. Ann and Nancy freakin Rock!!! Loved Heart as skinny 14 year old kid at the Bad Animals tour in 1988. A few years on and a little less hair and I still love them. Desire walks on!
I can't believe this only has 2.2 million views. Remarkable performance! Thank you Nancy and Ann.
Roger Fisher's tone is so fantastic! Very underrated player.
Absolutely Excellent !!
Thank you for the opportunity of watching this Jewel !!
This song requires so amazing level of skill, that it's just unbelievable. And she does it so easily.
The greatest ✌️
I love you
They are the greatest along w you
Yes they are, also, you're awesome 👏
YOU LOVE THIS? SAME
Portugal. The country
Everyone talks about Nancy but Ann had one helll of a voice
Ann still has one hell of a voice--check out Heart in the Lincoln Center tribute to the Zep. She sings 'Stairway' better than Plant.
Absolutely Ann does!! Incredible!!!
Had? .. Still !!
Well back in the day it was the other way around so fair is fair.
Denny Wheeler I don’t know about better the. plant, but I doubt there will ever be a better cover the one she did that night!
Remember when musicians had to be talented in order to be successful? Those were the days...
Archie and Edith knew, those were the days!
Shinwaable No Kidding
In 1977, these acts also had songs on the Billboard top 100. The Bay City Rollers, Shaun Cassidy, Rose Royce, KC and the Sunshine Band, and David Soul. There were ALWAYS musical acts that had some degree of success through good marketing despite a shortage of talent. Pick any year since the beginning of popular music, and that's true. We just don't remember all the forgettable, plastic manufactured acts.
Right no autotune crap
@@OTCRock4one It goes much deeper than just auto tune. The drum beats can now be moved to be in computer perfect time and then drums sounds replaced with recordings from other drummer. It happens all the time and it is why most drums now sound the same.
Im so glad i got back into this song a few months before guardians 3 came out. Made that moment even more exciting.
I love how the rest of the band just appears out of the dark
It will never be a generation like this again when a band actually rocked and remember kids this is Live and it sounds that good
Yup!
I love when she goes for the gautar pic you know it's gonna get good lol
I'm sure there will be sooner or later. Remember, our parents said the same thing about us. It comes in cycles. Everything does.
i grew up in the heyday of this. i still listen and enjoy.
most of these songs are now 50+ years old. they just
keep sounding better
We used to say they "cooked".
Legend!
That feeling when 1977 live acoustic solo sounds better than any 2019 studio work stuffed with computer processing.
sorry to tell you... its digital and computer processed, mp3 youtube
It was 77 or 78 when I saw them at Georgia Jam. They stole the show. The energy is electrifying and I love to watch Nancy play!

This was my generation...good memories. 45 years later, i have a different appreciation to the pure quality of their delivery platform. They went from VS to VSOP.
Both sisters IMMENSLY talented. Incomparable.
I'm 54 and I give a shout out to all from My time "We had the greatest times to grow up in, didn't We".
you probably did
Yes we did. I grew up in the 70s and I lived in southern California. We had the best bands, music and cars!
I loved it.
What an AMAZING live version of this incredible song.
And it still can get me in the groove. I'm 80 and love it. Outstanding
This band, with this lineup, could kick any other band's ass down the staircase, with a few exceptions, of course. Deserves to be mentioned in the same breath with all the bigs.
I was born in 78' and was surrounded by good music like this everyday!!!
