Me too, 14yrs old when "Barracuda" came out & Ann & Nancy Wilson RULED w/this song! Sure, it's the "Achilles Last Stand'' riff but w/this excellent band they had then they take it and re-shape it to their own distinct sound & Ann's epic & passionate voice turns it into a killer original, primal & heavy all over. I saw Heart in 1979. Little River Band played first. Heart played second and lastly, the Eagles! I believe the concert was in Hartford Connecticut. It was in an open stadium. It was extremely hot outside. The concert was unforgettable. I am 65. I can’t believe it !! …65. It seems like …yesterday .❤Love one another people.❤
Those were the days of real "concerts", not like now is all "junk digital music now a days" at least you got that real music in you, your so lucky. ❤ real rock & roll music always & ever!!!
Yeah I seen Heart in concert multiple times. But when you mentioned the Eagles--we had a concert in the summer of 1977 in the twin cities (MN). It opened with Pablo Cruise, the Steve Miller Band with their brand new album "Book of Dreams" and finally the Eagles with _their_ brand new album "Hotel California". Whotta concert! Keep hip with the music of the year you live in and you will _never grow old_ . Here is some excellent 2020s music. "Lost in Space" by Foster the People. "Sinner" by the Last Dinner Party. And "Panoramic View" by AWOLNATION. Just 3 off the top of my head in the last month or so. Source: I was 17 at that concert in 1977.
Indeed! This was the era of frontmen like Freddie Mercury, Ozzy Osbourne, Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, among other top-notch lead singers-- and Anne certainly held her own!
You never get tired of this song, it's a classic dynamic hit of delicious instrumental excitement and voice together to carry you up to explosive listening pleasure.

@@yurokasportboys9166 I personally don't like Stevie Nicks. Her voice is nasal, in my opinion. Ann Wilson is my favourite female rocksinger. And I like Amy Lee as well, the leadsinger of Evanesence. But taste is personal!
@Anonymouse Stevie ''s voice sounds like a goat. I don't like her voice. But that's my opinion. Taste is personally, as I wrote before. Stevie Wonder is a better singer as Stevie Nicks.
@@raynjpg I cannot disagree on that - but still just not like Barracuda's simple but hard-drivin', out-of-the-blocks intro and its strong, decisive, full-stop outro.
I love this song and I so admire Ann Wilson-her total talent and voice, her giftedness and also Nancy-both so awesome. And wow how beautiful they were!
I grew up then I think it was a Golden Age for Rock! You could actually afford to go see a concert without selling your left nut! The EAGLES tickets going from $ 273--$$ 7653 for a show! There is NO WAY ANYBODY is worth that kind of money! Does it come with a car?
Ann Wilson to me is one of the best vocalists in rock history period, not just female. Listen to the likes of Robert Plant. She could handle herself vocally with the great frontmen of her generation.
Me and my girlfriends went to see Heart in concert when we were pre-teens and we were glad our parents said yes, we could go, and we all were so excited, they were my favorite female rock band in the hard rock type of fame, although I loved the guitar playing and lyrics and the vocals it was just awesome as we expected!! I saw them twice and I would go again!
Damn, can she sing. Strong vocals and she has good rhythm. Great song, great bass chords, subtle but impactful drums, and her voice is the apex-she’s dope.
Jaysus! I never realized until I borrowed my son's headphones (got kicked out of the living room; gaming sort of headphones ...very nice, surround sound) how completely amazing the drums are in this song. Everyone always focuses on the guitar riff but the drums - especially the fills - are top notch. Great production!!!
It's definitely the recorded version, I've seen a snippet of the actual live version but I'm not sure if the whole thing is available to view anywhere.
Ann, Nancy the whole entire band is amazingly talented, BUT ya Ann's voice is so big and incredible .... she is one of the best rock voices male or female !!!!! Just a great band!
This is one of the timeless anthems of Rock & Roll. . . Nobody makes music like this anymore. . . This is indeed one of the many great Rock Songs of all time.

This is some amazing music, no bones about it. Ann has a voice that I still don't find an equal to. She is literally my favorite vocalist, male or female, ever (Bruce Dickinson is my very close second-in his hayday).
God this song will never get old!Hits the soul like nothing else and ah that voice!! But reading thru the comments which I couldn’t agree with more, just felt compelled to give props to ALL the musicians in this legendary band including Anne’s amazing sister Nancy on guitar and backup vocals. It took the whole team to make this unforgettable music. Thanks Heart for the motivation to sing my ass off & ofc the memories ♥️
we saw them on this 1977 tour in Greensboro, NC and the crowd was going so nuts that they did three encores, with two of them being Baracuda. Finally Nancy leaned on the mic stand and said, "we just can't play any more . . ." and we were all still ready for more. This brings back sweet memories of that show, 45 years later.

I got to see them live December of 2015 & Ann sounded as good then as she did in the 70's. It's one of the best shows that I've watched live. They weren't flashy at all. They just came out & kicked ass, from start to finish.

Driving downtown Houston, Tx in my 71 Cuda playing this song as loud as my crappy Hi-Fi tape deck could muster! I was 18 years old in 78. I'm now 64 and anytime I hear this song, I'm transported back to those teenage years. It seems like it was only a few years ago. Damn! I kick myself in the head everyday for having sold that car.
Ann Wilson revealed in interviews that the song was about Heart's anger towards Mushroom Records, who as a publicity stunt released a made-up story of an incestuous affair involving Ann and her sister Nancy Wilson. The song particularly focuses on Ann's rage towards a male radio promoter who came up to her after a concert asking how her "lover" was. She initially thought he was talking about her boyfriend, band manager Michael Fisher. After he revealed he was talking about her sister Nancy, Ann became outraged, went back to her hotel room, and wrote the original lyrics of the song.
This is crazy, and true! She also said the name, Barracuda, came to mind first. As its a slippery, almost snake like, dangerous thing. She went straight back to the hotel, and penned the lyrics to, arguably, their most popular, recognizable song. Isn't that just amazing? People, and Heart in particular, are amazing.
So happy to have been a teenager at this time in life....white blotter acid, dad's liquor cabinet, church dances, wicked live music, no texting, no chats, no social media, real connections.

I don’t think Ann has ever been overlooked! She’s always been and always will be appreciated and applauded and respected as one of the finest singers of any genre ever. In a league with the greats Aretha Celine Whitney an absolutely marvellous voice.

Anne Wilson is truly one of a kind. Her voice is inimitable. She sang in an era when you had to be able to sing, and she could and did!
Well... You really should see Gretchen Wilson and Alice in chains perform this one.

Indeed! This was the era of frontmen like Freddie Mercury, Ozzy Osbourne, Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, among other top-notch lead singers-- and Anne certainly held her own!

Oh cool
Hmmmm, fisher,like,,,,,barracuda, hmmmmm
Really? I heard that she came up with this song after an argument with her mom (I think) about wanting to become a singer
