Cinemassacre reviews Night Killer (Italian: Non aprite quella porta 3). It's a 1990 Italian horror film directed by Claudio Fragasso. On its release in Italy, it was promoted as being part of the The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film is not part of the series and bears little content from the previously released films. In the movie, a serial killer with a rubber-like Freddy Krueger mask terrifies the city of Virginia Beach.

19:50 Phone booth is such a good movie. It’s interesting that this film was made as booths were becoming irrelevant in society. Now regular pay phones in general are pretty much non existent.
Glad I’m not the only one who appreciates how awesome that film is.
I always forget that James has these random pop culture blindspots where he hasn't seen something you would assume he'd be into, like MST3K.

@@phaolo6 I could be wrong, but I remember him saying in one of his older videos that he was aware of MST3K, and he's seen several of the movies they riffed, but he didn't really watch the show.
I can't wait for the day he finally breaks out of his shell and discovers Monte Python and The Onion.
He is though, he references MST3K in both the Deathstalker and Screaming Skull review.

Don't forget Sergio Martino and Antonio Margheriti.
I would definetly add Pupi Avati to the list, who is an all around great director (he also directed scifi, dramas, comedies and melodramas).
And the very recent Roberto De Feo (watch The Nest, it's worth it)

That implies there was some form of communication going on between the people involved.
Considering how B-movies productions were, I would be surprised if there was any communication between both directors
Got to say I am surprised that Cinemassacre hasn't covered Pumaman yet. I remember seeing that as a kid and thinking how awful it was even then.

Except Claudio's films are fun to watch. I have yet to stay awake through an Uwe snorefest.
Random trivia: apparently Boll is a weirdly good chef and opened a surprisingly good restaurant.

I love it. There can be a legit discussion on what the "imaginary friends" in that movie are, since they're not figments of these people's imagination. I guess it's for discussion next week.

I actually just picked up a 10-DVD set of horror film from Menard's that has a few of the titles James mentioned at the end of the video. There's also, "Out of the Dark," about a guy who stalks phone-sex workers in Los Angeles. Just an FYI, Menard's has a pretty awesome movie selection!

You missed one of the best 'phone' movies - Bells, aka Murder by Phone, 1982. Disgruntled phone company employee devises a way to make people's phones explode when they answer. It's awesome.
You guys should cover Alien 2 - Sulla Terra, it was done with really low budget and it has nothing to do with the Alien series

This movie feels like an Italian knock off of Nightmare on Elm Street
It kinda is, Fragasso is really infamous for producing namely knockoff sequels of good oversea movies while taking "inspiration" from more than one movie at a time

As an Italian I can be proud of our many bad ripoffs! I can't remember Bruno Matteri ever doing a "Terminator 2", what I remember is Ciro Ippolito directing "Alien 2 on earth" years before Ridley Scott made the real one...

You forgot "Play Misty for me" in the phone caller psycho genre. Really good Clint Eastwood movie.
There is also "Murder By Phone" ( 1982 ) - In this film ( with an environmental subplot ) the killer calls on the phone , but when the victim answers , he doesn't talk or torment them. He sends a huge electrical surge through the phone and it kills them.

Even though I know this probably won't be seen, A rental review movie you guys could do is called THE MANSTER from 1959. It really reminds me of a Universal Monster movie type, but its set in Japan. Its the definition of a B Movie, but I think James would appreciate it a little even though its bad lol. Good episode non the less

This was another great Rental Review! I would love to see you guys tackle 1980’s Maniac! Even though it was released in 1980 you can tell that Maniac was filmed in the late 70’s due to it having that sleazy grindhouse vide! You guys definitely need to check it out and do a review!

To clear up the meaning of the final scene, the killer gave the present to Melanie's daughter at the start of the movie.
That nice tight little tuck at the end of the kill at 05:32 while screaming gave me both a hoot and a holler haha

It's classic sit-com amnesia. If you get hit in the head and forget another blow to the head will make you remember. They just replaced blows to the head with horrible emotional trauma.

YES! I'm italian and I watched all Bruno Mattei and Claudio Fragasso movies, if you like trash horror they're the guys. Please review more from them :)
Not sure it counts as a full-on "phone horror" movie as such, but a lot of the plot technically took place over a phone call in Psycho IV: The Beginning. But again, it might not technically count, as the movies James listed were more specifically about people being terrorized while on the phone, while in the Psycho movie it was more of a plot device for Norman to tell his backstory. Figured I'd mention it either way.

Cruel Jaws rips footage from “The Last Shark” so much that it’s almost hard to tell which movie your watching.
When you google “The Last Shark” you’ll get the exact same screenshots, I’m not kidding.
