Everytime I cruise Royal I say I'm going to stay only Royal, Then I start missing the Carnival Passengers I've met over time. Love the Royal Ships, Love the Carnival Passengers. The Carnival Oasis of the Seas would be my favorite.

You're so close! It's funny we hit diamond on Royal then we booked 3 Carnival cruises which makes no sense 🤣 I guess we just wanted to mix it up!
The food there IS fantastic. It wasn't nearly as busy a day when I was there last and we were able to have lunch. My first time eating mofongo and it was so good! I tend to bring home food as a souvenir (not literally lol) and had to try to learn to make it at home. I've made some decent mofongo but nothing like that. I really like San Juan, though I know a lot of people feel like it's boring. It's something out of the norm from all the other Caribbean ports. I totally get you on branching out to other lines and missing your perks. I am really curious about others, Virgin in particular, but man. I'm platinum on Carnival and would lose those benefits, along with the fact my Carnival cruises are extremely cheap due to casino deals. Our upcoming B2B on Celebration is in a suite and I only paid taxes, grats and port fees. Makes it VERY hard to branch out. Honestly need to even be doing trips other than cruises entirely.
Honestly, we know exactly how you feel… We are diamond on Royal and those perks make it really hard to ever want to branch out.
Oh wow you got to try Mofongo… When we were there with our families, my mom got us to try it and it was so delicious!

I hadn't been on Royal in years and finally returned a few months ago. I was missing Carnival the whole time lol. We may give Royal another try tho. With Carnival, just make sure you try a newer ship. Their old ships are the best

My first cruise was on carnival and I really enjoyed it yes the blue card is not fun I wanna go on the boat your on but we’re going to Bermuda in September on royal so I’m really excited about that

San Juan is an amazing place to fly a kite it’s crazy! That wind is just next level haha! Got to be careful you don’t blow away or take flight with the kites haha
We are on Harmony of the Seas in September and then a transatlantic on Odyssey in April of 2024. We’re Diamond on Royal so sticking with them for the perks. Plus we’ve sailed Carnival twice and it was less than great. Would sail NCL or MSC again before Carnival.
That’s awesome!! Those are some great ships it sounds like you have some exciting trips planned! Yeah being Diamond is soooo good it’s hard to cruise anywhere else. Hi Guys…Fun video! We are Diamond Plus with Royal Caribbean and we get five free alcoholic drinks everyday, so it’s hard to cruise any other cruise line and pay for drinks. Plus we really love Royal ships the Best anyway.⚓️
Omg I hear you, the 4-5 drinks is the best loyalty perk cruise ships offer in our opinion. We talk about this often and take it into consideration every time we are pricing out a cruise. We live in Edmonton and love carnival cruises and are looking to go on the celebration in Feb! We have been on the splendor, glory, valor and liberty. Our last cruise was Jan 2016 and are so grateful we found your vlogs. We love your tips and opinions! We may even try a royal one day. Maybe. Lol

We were at the “Home of the pina colada” in 2019 and there was no line, we were in San Juan getting on a cruise, it wasn’t a stop for us. I still have a pic of my drink and it was much larger and very “yellow” in colour lol. It was delicious. It’s possible they changed it or it was just to busy when you guys were there.
Ya I can imagine when there’s not a couple big ships in port the line would be much better! Yeah I wonder if they do things different when there’s a cruise in town or not, I didn’t think of that! 😎🍻☀️

I don’t drink so I haven’t been billed for tax but I remember hearing that you do have to still pay it while in the US. So while still docked in Miami and then in Puerto Rico would make sense, although suck.
Yeah that’s too bad about the tax, it’s not a big deal at the end of the day but if someone is number crunching on whether the drink package is worth it for them this can add $10-15 per person per day while docked in the US 🇺🇸. Thanks for the info and for watching!! Happy cruising 😎🍻☀️
I've only been on one cruise, November 2022 on the Carnival Conquest for 4 days. I loved it. I didn't find it too much of a party ship. This coming November I am going on the Carnival Magic for a 6 night cruise. Nothing for 2024 but we have a Disney cruise planned for 2025. I'm beyond stoked for that! Let's see if I can manage one for 2024. I picked Carnival as it is cheaper for a solo cabin cruiser from NB Canada as we need to fly in for it. I would like to try some other cruise lines in the future. No one I know likes to cruise or wants to cruise, so my dad and I go together. We each have our own stateroom. Soooo pricey. Cruising is awesome. Enjoy all of yours! ❤

Great way to spend your day. Carnival is definitely a Fun ship! We were diverted to San Diego for 2 1/5 days due to weather once. We paid taxes on every drink.

I like your videos. You’re way more laid back than a lot of other cruise vloggers. So you’ve got a new subscriber. PR is one of my favorite ports. The food and drinks are so good. In that area with the food trucks is a trick called Tico Tipleta. Next time you go back you have to get a tripleta sandwich. As far as not speaking Spanish I have a secret weapon. My wife is Puerto Rican so I always have a translator with me.

Love your videos. We will be on the Celebration for Christmas and New Years doing a B2B. We will be doing a B2B on the Venezia for Christmas and New Years 2024. Will be on Carnival Panorama for July 4th 2024. You need to just cruise more Carnival to get the perks. We are Diamond with Carnival. One thing to mention when on the Excel class ships and you like the patio, they do offer diner for free each night in Summer Landing. The menu changes nightly. you need to check it out on the Jubilee.

Great vlog, we are sailing Celebration April 30th. Our 21st Carnival cruise. The tax on the drinks is because you were in San Juan and it's a US territory.

Yeah we didn’t know this was a thing on Carnival, with Royal you don’t pay this tax I wonder if Royal has an agreement or they simply absorb the cost/price it into the drinks. There is always some place new to go. Lol. We are sailing to Alaska in June on Carnival Spirit. . Our first Alaskan cruise.
My first cruise will be Royal Caribbean Voyager of the Seas this coming September out of Galveston. I'm also considering the Jubilee from Galveston next year, or the Harmony from Galveston. I absolutely love the look of the new Carnival Celebration, and Mardi Gras, and the Jubilee is supposed to be pretty much an exact replica. Your probably not going to really notice, but the Jubilee is showing to be the largest in Carnival's fleet in terms of gross tons, when she arrives. I would love to try the ICON in 2024, but wowser she is premium priced, of course I travel alone, so I have to pay double.
Awesome that’s going to be a great first cruise! We’d love to try the Icon but you’re exactly right, it is super expensive right now. We also want to try the new Celebrity Ascent to try out another cruise line. We loved this ship so if it’s exactly the same that’s ok we’ll still have a great time. The reason they charge the sales tax on drinks at port on Carnival and not on Royal or NCL is because since Carnival has the 15 a day drink limit, they have to "process" your transaction immediately to keep count. On other cruise lines such as royal with unlimited drinks a day, they wait until you're at sea to finish processing your transaction.

The kite flying was surprisingly fun, even though it was a simple day we created such a nice memory and loved rewatching the video. I always make sure I have a couple extra pairs of those Oakleys because I always lose or break the expensive ones. I actually think I’m wearing sunglasses I picked up at a gas station because I had lost the original ones I brought🤣🤣 I’m definitely a Blue Jays fan, but I also have 2nd and 3rd favourites 😎🍻☀️

When in port in San Juan the tax is charged because San Juan is a United States territory.

@@ryanandkala I got charged In San Juan while in port. Bought the Mrs. one of the drinks in a pineapple and they charged me tax.. Didn't have the drink package. Maybe that makes a difference?

Hello again Ryan and Kala, Great vid. My wife and I went on the Carnival Magic for our wedding anniversary a few years ago. We were in San Juan right after the big hurricane. San Juan's trees look much better. We found Carnival a crowded experience during Xmas holidays compared to our recent Xmas cruise on the Princess Caribbean. Much better service and much less crowded as well. Any plans on trying Princess or Holland?

We have definitely been looking at trying out Princess, NCL, Celebrity, and Holland America (not in any order) I don’t know when but at some point I’d like to do a Pacific coast one from Vancouver to LA and another to Hawaii. We have the two new Carnival ships booked next year and nothing after the Ovations OTS to Alaska this year, we are just waiting on some work commitments to get ironed out but I’d like to get one in between Sept-Nov this year as well. Thanks Ryan and Kala for this vlog. It 100% sold me on the Celebration. My concern was that with this many people on the ship it would feel crowded but from your videos it doesn't look that way. Did you feel crowded?
Generally no we didn’t find it crowded but we sort of worked around it. Here are some of the negatives that we noticed that is pretty common for a large ship:
1) Lido deck was always busy and to get a drink at the Red Frog was at least 15 minutes
2) I had to get up early on Sea days in order to get chairs (pretty common but worth mentioning)
3) Coffee, pizza, deli and those sort of venues generally had 15-30 minute line BUT we worked around this such as port days, late night, and for coffee going to Havana and Bar820.
4) Getting chairs for the shows in the grand central and comedy club was pretty difficult, you had to go early or just be happy with a bad angle/standing.
At night in the bars we didn’t find the bar service slow in fact we got drinks pretty quick, just found that the pool bartenders were slammed.

That’s a tough question there’s so much to unpack here and we hope to do a video of this in the near future. I would say it depends on a few things both cruise lines are great. Just some general advice I would research the ship you’re thinking of booking and try to decide if you care more about the ship or the destinations. I would definitely recommend an Oasis or Freedom Class and above ship on Royal and since we only have experience on the Excel class with Carnival that’s what I would suggest. Again it’s going to depend on where you want to go and what sort of cruise you’re looking for but I hope that helps!! 😎🍻☀️

Love the vlog guys! I’m actually literally sitting here trying to decide between Carnival Celebration, Mardi Gras or Royal Symphony for a New Year’s cruise. Never been on Carnival. We love Oasis class on a Royal but Celebration, Mardi Gras is like $2000 less (for 3)! Symphony is 8 nights v 7 nights but still. There is also Carnival Vista also $2000 less than Symphony for 8 nights as well. We are VERY tempted, so your vlogs are helping! We are also going to Alaska at the end of May, can’t wait those vlogs.

@@ryanandkala Haha yes you’re not helping. Lol. Joking. Vista has the best itinerary but it’s also oldest of the bunch. Celebration is newest and I think Mardi Gras is its sister ship. Celebration has the least interesting itinerary being the newest. Celebration looks great though and based on your vlogs you seemed to really enjoy it! I think we still prefer Royal Oasis class, we love how those ships feel uncrowded because of the neighborhoods. Symphony is almost $2000 usd more for us though for new year’s! Ugh. Lol
If you book the Vista on Carnival and you don't have any kids under 12 I'd look at the Havana area cabins. That area is awesome.
@@kikky811 I cruised Symphony and Celebration and they both felt about the same in terms of crowding - which was only at peak times in certain areas. I think they both had lots of great dining, activities, entertainment. I’ve sailed Horizon (sister ship to Vista) and it’s a great class if ship as well. But the edge goes to Excel class ships
If I was in your shoes, I’d save the $2K and book the Celebration or Mardi Gras. $2K is a whole other vacation….
@@fofita17 We are now booked on the Mardi Gras for New years! (Dec 30 sailing). Yes it was $2000 less than Symphony & has 2 new ports to us: Turks & Caicos and Amber Cove. So we’re going for it. I doubt we’ll hate it. Lol
