    I have been doing leather working for years and never thought of a arbor press. I am off to the store in a few hrs at lunch to pick one up. I already have piles of magnets. I will just need to get a metal slab to press against. Good on you to teach the community.

    I was looking for an Arbor Press to work on polymer clay after seeing a Neverknead polymer clay kneading machine (£103) which is a similar press but only half a ton. I was going to work out how to adapt it and then found your site which gave me all the information I needed. I have now bought one through the link you gave. I am a retired bookbinder so now I have to go through all your videos to see what else I can learn. I am staggered by how generous people are in giving their knowledge so freely, thank you again from a fellow Geordie.

    Thank you for your video. I have two of these presses for a variety of uses and recently made them more ergonomic by removing two teeth from the vertical bar piece which allows for free wheeling the crank arm into the best position when needed. That modification I found on RUclips but don’t recall the source name.
    I’m in Oregon, USA. Minor point: are you aware that you are not looking into the camera when you turn towards it? Is that on purpose?
    All the best to you. 👍🏼

    Amazing and informative! Even the links too! I have had issues using ornate stamps for ages, striking them with a hammer never gets a good impression and I find they need repeated strikes, which often causes a slight movement and rubbish finish. This looks perfect. So have ordered one :) Thanks for the guide and ideas!

    • @HobbyBloxs
      @HobbyBloxs  4 года назад +2

      Hello. You can. You just need to move the cutting die/leather around and use multiple presses along the edge of the cutting die. It's not ideal but it does the job, without the expense of a big press.

    Great video! I researched modifications to my arbor press awhile ago, but with all the custom machine work to drill the hole and install a set screw, etc. the cost was more than the press! I gave up on that idea and bought a tabletop drill press to easily put my stamping tools in the chuck. Works great. Still, I would like to revisit this arbor press option now that I've seen your amazingly simple approach. It appears that Amazon has done some substituting on the U.S. link, because that magnet is nothing like the one you are using in the video. The spec's are totally different. It's GIANT and far too strong. People are having trouble getting it off their press! The U.K. link is also looks different, but the magnet has the same specs and size as yours except for the thickness which doesn't seem to be critical, so I thought I would see if I can order it from your suggested source in the U.K. If you haven't checked the link recently, would you mind pulling it up to see if that is, indeed, the correct magnet that I should order? I also have a question about the tools you were attaching to the magnet. Did you have to grind the ends flat so they would have a better surface to stick to the magnet? A lot of my tools have rounded ends on the handles. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. I really enjoyed all the demos of what can be done with the arbor press, all because of a little magnet. Genius!!!!!

      Hello. Thanks for your detailed comment. This video was made some time ago and the original link to the recommended magnets may have changed since then. Amazon will suggest alternatives (I have no control over what they show people). I will look at the links again and update them, if I can. As for flattening tool ends. I haven't needed to do this with any of my tools.

      Hello Javier. It depends on what you are doing. If you plan to use a lot of snaps, rivets etc you would be better off with a snap press. But with some modification an arbor press can also do these tasks, but the cost of the modifications is about the same as a snap press, so it's your choice.
