Just about to go buy an arbor press today for leatherworking, and while I am no tool and die maker by trade, I do have CNC at my disposal, and while I do hate drilling out cast iron, it looks like I have a nice project ahead of me. Great fence, wonderful build quality. KUDOS
*Works perfectly for my use as a heated press **MyBest.Tools** Space between the ram jack and the base is a little tight. Make sure you set the ram jack arm so that it's in a position for you to get maximum leverage on whatever you're pressing. You may have to unbolt the front plate of the press and realign the ram in the teeth so that the arm is not at an awkward angle when fully cranked down.Other than aligning the ram in the teeth with the crank arm this .5 ton arbor press comes out of the box pretty much ready to use.*
well done! You are indeed a maker. Im sure people would love to see all of the little things you "fix/upgrade" around the house. Most do not even know the limits of what can be done. SHOW THEM :)
Hi there! I don't have the tools for drilling steel, but this gave me ideas for making a modification that will work for me! Thank you so much. I've seen drilling out the arbor for making a Rivet press, but the 'Fence' is new and an awesome addition, as well as 'Silent Tooling'!!!
Excellent! I've just started looking into getting an arbor press and the modifications that would be needed. Thanks for the video and detailing the attachments you developed.
Don You are nice and very simple person . Thank you so much for this video . God bless you and family. I always thank everyone whom I get knowledge or technique.
Nice !! Just got one. This is the nicest setup so far I've seen... love the idea of making your own dies for leather will have to give it a go !! I'm setting up for Rivets, Snaps, Grommets, eyelets, and anything more I can think of. Dirty jobs not so clean a setup like yours.
good video thankyou both! I should be getting one of these presses in a few days and these are all good ideas. they are simple upgrades but I think I will enjoy doing them
Hey Don. Thanks for the wonderful video using the Harbor Freight arbor press. I especially like the accessories you have devised for the press. I too have a HF 1 ton press and I have drilled a 3/8" hole into the ramrod along with the set screw. I would like to know if you have plans drawn out for the stamp fence and fiberglass base. I think those additions would give the precision I seek.
hi there, great video, but please don't stop... i'm in the uk and we don't seem to have many video's on leather stamping... just got the arbor press and see what i can do, thank you for the idea's .....
A question about mounting a set screw in the side of the arbor press ram: I am going to use a 1/4" set screw and wondered which was a better 1/4" thread for this application - a coarse (1/4-20) or a fine (1/4-28) thread? I have both taps and have easy local access to both size set screws. I realize the coarse thread one is more resistant to the threads tearing, but the fine thread allows finer adjustment which is a non-issue here. Which will hold tighter?
+Johnny Alberty Hi and thanks for the nice words. Harbor Freight was where I bought the press. I use one of their often-found 20% off coupons and paid about $40 for the press! Did some deburring with a file, cleaned it and painted it the color you see. Don.
Hi Don, this is amazing. I'm looking for something like this to attach my branding iron to. Is that something you've ever made or thought about making? If so, would you be interested in commission work? - Erin
Don... Thank your for your great Tutorial... I am looking for a custom made stamp for my book.... I have a book coming out: "Billy the Kid: Little Black Book of Secrets (c) ... (3 lines)... I am bookbinding the first 100 books... I need a raised lettering, especially the, "Billy the Kid" then the next two lines would be standard lines... in a western font... then since it will be raised, I'll have gold leave on that... ;) Please let me know if you know of someone who can make my custom stamps... thank you, Judi...

You sir, are a genius. You have the voice of a radio commentator. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you sir, you have settled my own mental argument as to what path to take regarding my own stamping tools.. Time for a Harbor Freight run
Very clever. I love seeing when people improve things. And very generous of you to share that with others.
Mate greetings from "Down Under" just love your work, and your accent.......thanks.

Great set up!
Appreciate the video! Would like to see how you set up the return spring, so I can add to my press, thanks again!
Well done -- and the most beautiful arbor press I've ever laid my eyes on!
Very nice modifications! Wish I had the tools and 'know-how' to make that setup for my own arbor press. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic modifications. Thanks for the video 📹 🙂.

Wow, just got blown away, creativity, beautiful idea sir, thank you for sharing.
You're brilliant.
Genius! I think I'm going to try to recreate that!
Wow that's creative!
Don is that a 1/2 ton or 1 ton press. You did excellent job on the press. Could you explain the return spring?
That's a really nice job. I think I will do that to an arbor press. Maybe I won't hate belts.
Man you are an all around craftsman. Thank you for the video. have you ever thought about selling that set up in a kit?
Love the mods, will have to make this for mine.
Before I've seen the face I thought I'm listening to Bob Ross. Have a wonderful day :)
Nice explanation. Thanks.
Hi Don, really nice job! How did you put the spring and what is a stripe return spring?
Amazing dude, i just thought about doing it and looked it up. this will work for me very well
Love this but what is the purpose of the wood block on left side of the press?
Thank you sure beats the $300. plus Tandy wants for their press!
That's just pretty damn neat
Very impressive thank you for sharing keep up the good work
Thank You for sharing it!
I appreciate it
How did you put the return spring on it
Have you purchased dies to use in the Arbor Press? If you have could you give me the name where you purchased the dies? Thank you. Richarf
Awesome stamping tool how much would it cost to make me one if you can .
Master craftsman, respect
May I ask, what did you use to drill the hole in the end of the arbor shaft? Thank you.

Great video!!!!!!!
