    Five stars! I'm putting my grandson's YZ 125 back together right now and this is the most complete video I've seen, and I've watched quite a few. The only thing I'd change is I'd use a torque wrench, 'cuz I don't have calibrated hands.

    Important reminder when joining the cases remember the two dowels and o ring for coolant. That was the o ring needed in the beginning of the video

    I have a brass hammer and a piece of brass round stock ( 1 inch diameter by about 10 inches long) works great for hammering stuff you don’t need to be rough on. Great job as as always.

    Hey 👋, just wanted to mention a trick take on the 350* oven and a 0* freezer bearing trick. Turning a press into slip fit. I only use the oven for the case at 465* , and room temperature bearings so that there’s no condensation. I learned about it from a chainsaw shop manual. I thought it was easier when I just did a 06 crf150f although I did it totally old-school on a wood stove and addition of instant read thermometer.

      Hello! For sure, works well! The reason I keep the case a little cooler at 170 degrees is because I often still have some rubber seals on the case and are looking to try to keep them in good shape. But with no seals to worry about it would surely make it slip in easier with more heat.

    Another top-notch vid! Unbelievable with this thread locker company that shall be never named again.The eye thing started at 43 with readers for me. At 50 it progressed into full perscription. Happens to most of us. It gets expensive too. Now I need glasses to ride so the goggles won't work. I have been researching OTG goggles and a company that allows you to insert perscription lenses directly into the goggles instead. I m not on the bike that often except for a quick local blast latley so it hasn't been an issue. Gotta figure it out before they say no riding without proper saftey gear. Enjoy Datona! Remember getting old is a privilege.🤓

    In my opinion, if you've got a bike tour down that far and you can't afford to replace the bearings, then don't put it back together yet. Wait till you can afford it. Why go through all of that work? Turn that motor down to bare castings and then put old bearings that are worn out back in it. That to me is just so counter intuitive. I don't know why anyone would want to do that. Even if you don't have the money to replace the bearings, they're not that expensive man. Just wait till the next Payday and go and buy the bearings man, just do it. Don't have stuff or you're gonna end up with a half ass motorcycle that don't work great. Indeed, you should be using blue lock tight on any bolt that goes inside the motor blue lock tight and you use heat to get them back out.Don't just try to take him out without heating them up.Because all you'll do is strip out the screws. My favorite way is to take a soldiering iron and hold it on there until it gets good and hot and then take it out with the screwdriver, and I'll come right on out with ease. Will neither be hard anymore because the lock type that's in there will liquify again. But if you try to take out lock tighted boat bolts without heating them all it does is tear s*** up..

      Hello. Of course new bearings and such is always ideal but if inspected good and all checks out well it will be ok to reuse. I always suggest new bearings but in the end its up to the owner. In this case his bill was already up to 2000 bucks and he just wanted to get the grandson back on the track with what he could afford. If I didnt think it would survive I would have told him we can put it together till we have these parts. But I knew it would survive so I suggested and explained the risk and he choose to reuse them. That being said the bike has had at least 25 hard hours put on it since this video and alls holding up well. I like red thread locker for the inside of motors, I dont trust blue much for that type of work.

    I’m currently rebuilding the same model. 2022. Bike has 4 hours on it and all 4 transmission bearings were very noisy and about to fail. Did you find a cause of the failed bearings in that one? I can’t find any oil passage that allows oil into the transmission side of the cases. When I fill through the oil fill up to the level plug it doesn’t transfer to the transmission side. Thinking the bearing for the shift drum should not have a seal

    • @UpAllNight91
      @UpAllNight91  3 месяца назад

      Hello. The oil is slug up by the clutch and there is a little area up top where catches it and sends it to the transmission side. The oil makes it back to the clutch side by the shift drum and through the shift drum bearing. Never did find what caused the failure on this one but the owner is known to run the oil well over 10 hours which is way too long. One thing I have noticed is this bike needs time for the transmission to break in. A lot of the gears ride pretty tight on the shafts.

    • @petermcphail8399
      @petermcphail8399 3 месяца назад

      @@UpAllNight91 I agree on everything except the oil passage through the shift drum as the bearing from Yamaha came with the seal still installed. I noticed yours was the same. I’m pretty sure mine failed because I did an oil change and just refilled until oil was coming out the check plug which left the trans empty and total oil amount too low. (Noise started 10 minutes after my oil change). I’m very curious if later serial bikes maybe have the seal removed from the drum bearing? I’ve had bikes for 30years and never had trans bearing failure. That’s why I’m stressed to find the cause. Thank you

      @@JackMacdonald-ih3htIf the pilot is getting clogged you have trash getting in the carb and clogging it. These bikes have a fuel filter built into or on top of the fuel petcock. I would remove the fuel petcock from the tank and check that or replace that. And also replace the fuel line from the tank to the carb (I have seen old fuel lines come apart on the inside and clog jets). If both of them are good the pilot should stay clean

    Man, if the owner wants to reuse crank, bearings and s*** like that I would have refused the whole deal man. I would refuse to do it with old bearings. Because you know what's gonna happen. That crank's gonna end up locking up tighter than a nun's ass and then you're gonna look like the asshole because you didn't change the bearings, even though the guy told you not to, they're gonna look at it as it's your fault because you built the engine. So you should have refused this job using old bearings and shit like that Man, you shouldn't have took this job at all if he's wanting to reuse bearings and all that stupid shit. Saving a few pennies to wreck the whole fucking motor!!!
