  • Today I am rebuilding the transmission on my 2003 YZ125. Doing the transmission is pretty easy and straightforward. These techniques will apply almost universally to different kinds of dirt bikes!

    This video hopefully will help i put together the trans wrong once and im reopening it this week lets hop for the best there were some metal shavings in the gear oil first go around but all the gears seemed fine im gonna double check this time

      @@camsenduroworks374 my transmission shafts aren’t rotating fully even after I put the forks in

      @@michaelhernandez8102That’s normal, it won’t move all the way freely until both cases are put together. You are looking for the shift drum to smoothly through all the gears.

    Thanks! You made it a little easier. It seems my shift drum doesn’t rotate or move so I need to recheck how I put it all back in.

    What would a missing second gear be? Worn shift fork or gear? It like bucks like it’s not catching so I usually just go 1 to 3 but want to fix it.

      that’s the same way my 5th gear is on my bike, i took it to a shop and they think it’s just the gear that’s worn out or sheared off.
