Almost 3 months ago, I watched your video on the negative effects of sugar. I quit all carbs and alcohol cold turkey. I started eating healthy, eating less frequently, followed your KETO recipes and by month 2, I was down 40 pounds! I went from 225 to 185 simply by following your advice. Not only that, but I stopped snoring, my sleep apnea disappeared and started feeling 10 times better. I used to take daily ibuprofen for headaches and I don't need it anymore. For those of you reading this, give it a try. It's only difficult in the beginning but your body will thank you for it!

I think it's important for people starting out on a keto lifestyle to realize that at first you may feel really terrible. I got my blood sugar down in one month, however, I felt so awful despite supplementing with electrolytes. The first 3 weeks almost had me give up; poor sleep, itchy skin, headaches, urinating at night and just feeling weak. But I pushed through to get my glucose down. I started keto and 16/8 IF at the same time. If you are like me, don't give up. It was withdrawal from all the processed foods. I'm 2 months in and I am so glad I didn't give up. Please try your best to get healthy and don't feel like a failure of you feel crappy. You'll get there if you really want to.

I am unable to connect with advice unaccompanied by clearly understanding the reason for that advice . I need to know why . The world we live in is stuffed with all sorts of fleeting passions for life style changes that purport to be the solution to all ills .Most of us look to these so called solutions to miraculously cause us to lose weight easily ,or to have better hair ,or skin and so on . All of these miracles we want and expect to take place in about two weeks or so . After several failed attempts we throw everything out ,preferring to just eat and do what we want because health advice is generally a load of old rubbish . I say ‘we’ but mean ‘I’. Today I viewed a few of your videos and see that you offer a clear understanding of the functions of the body supported by established scientific truths . I see that you are not putting forward spurious advice unsupported by anything at all, and neither do you advise but you inform us . That offers the recipient of that information an opportunity to intelligently and freely make fact based choices. Thank you for your videos, I certainly feel empowered to make the changes I need to make in order to make a general improvement in my health . Thank you very much .

Started researching and realized I'd been lied to by big medicine and the American Diabetes Association that diabetes wasn't curable! First thing they told me, "You have to eat and take your medicine". Low and behold, fasting and a ketogenic lifestyle cure diabetes!!! I'll never go back to how I ate before. Be very careful with almonds, especially almond flour, because they are very high in oxalates which can get into your blood stream if your gut lining is not healthy. Once into your blood stream they bind with calcium and deposit as crystals throughout your body especially where there is any inflammation. Arthritis, KIDNEY STONES, breast fibrosis, etc. You need to research this and you will find that there is a lot more to know about this.

Well, I've so far lost 42 pounds over 4 months and I'm really pleased with progress so far.
I didn't even start out on a Keto diet. I started with treating a fatty liver and suddenly, the stubborn weight started to shift and my swollen abdomen went flat - pretty quickly.
It made sense to carry on so I've progressed with the Keto way of life, combined with intermittent fasting.
    I'm totally motivated again!

I started following your protocol 2 weeks ago. 18-hour fasts, 2 meals a day.
I’d hit a plateau in my weight loss journey and couldn’t break through. But 2 weeks later, I’ve lost 3 kg, shattering my plateau. But that’s not the best bit.
THIS is the best bit: my concentration and productivity levels are through the roof! I can’t express how much energy I now have, or how much longer I can concentrate at work. After two kids, I just kind of accepted that being tired 24/7 was a part of my life. But now I get to 8pm and I still have bundles of energy.
In short: I feel reborn. THANK YOU Dr Berg!
    The details:
I don’t measure food. I just follow Dr Berg’s guide of filling half my plate with salad/veggies & the other half protein and fat. I take vitamin B and D before bed. I’m a writer, so live a mostly sedentary lifestyle. I’ve incorporated daily walking and as much incidental exercise as I can. And that’s it 💁🏻‍♀️

I have had lymphedema, and other inflammatory issues, thyroid (Hashimotos) and diabetes. The diabetes is gone, the inflammation is well on it's way out, as is the lymphedema.

And, yes, carb addiction, which does not satisfy, but makes you feel starved and ravenous, as well as the food producers who add things to the food, to make you come back for more. It's rarely about being lazy and gluttonous, rather being fatigued and ill by the foods that are readily available and much cheaper than healthy food.
It's like being chained and you can't escape. The very people who provide your food for you are the people desyroying you.

Respinding to Ben , here, since my site is not taking me directly to his comment. Ben, you seem to be here only to demonstrate your knowledge and to argue and correct people.
You yourself asked how people can get to be 100 lbs overweight. You even asked if it was carb addiction. I answered your question in detail, but you came back with "They are lazy and need to put their burger down". That was rude, as well as ignorant. Dr. Berg has repeatedly shared how many (if not most) doctors (who are, no doubt, more trained than you), do not grasp the real problem and cause of obesity. I urge you to study further. It could be that you don't understand it, either. And please, no more of these critical 'is a lazy thing to say' nonsense. To urge someone to study further, as I did, is asking them to work harder to understand the problem.

@@antonellamicheli1082 I can't answer for her, but if you are curious as to what a good system looks like (I think I heard it from this channel):
If you wake up at 8am, and go to sleep at at midnight (I wish for myself lol)
When you wake up, you're already fasting from the night. Drink fluids, coffee, tea, water etc. but don't eat until noon. That's 4 hours, and it's easily manageable if you're in ketosis. Have a good meal at noon, and another meal at 6pm. Then tough it out until midnight (It's beneficial to not eat before bedtime).
So you're eating between noon and 6pm (6 hours) and not eating between 6pm and noon the next day (18h)
I've never done it this way but it seems optimal instead of eating right before bed and then "be full" while you're sleeping, and then "feel hunger" during the day.

I quit smoking 7 months ago, and have consequently gained 10 pounds from eating and drinking even more. I thought it would be really difficult to begin IF and Keto, but it seems the discipline required was strengthened by quitting smoking. Cutting the alcohol has been the hardest part (and not binging after fasting). I've found that hunger is a lot like nicotine cravings--if you can put it off for five minutes, it will go away for an hour. And, after about a week, it got dramatically easier for me.

Eric, I began full on Keto just over 3 months ago. I followed closely all of your main videos. Daily I have combined intermittent fasting with exercise and a complete Keto diet spread between 2 meals, at lunch time and dinner. For the fasting I have always been between 16 and 18 hours. During the morning and until lunch time I have been fine with just 1 coffee and perhaps one green tea or other infusion. For the coffee I included 1 small teaspoon of 100% Cocoa and 1 spoon of MTC oil.
My weight loss has been between 300g and 400g per week, which I prefer, as I think it's not too drastic. The results have been astonishing! I started at 87 kg, now at 76 kg (just over 24lbs). I also feel so much better, no more feeling bloated and tired, I'm more alert, sleeping better, concentrating better.
Eric you have truly changed my life and there just aren't enough words to thank you.

I know this is an older video, but to anyone who is skeptical about the keto diet and intermittent fasting I can tell you that it works!
I'm 31 yrs old. I had my gallbladder removed about 4 years ago and I am pre-diabetic. I started a 23/1 intermittent fasting routine with a healthy keto diet 2 weeks ago. I started at 276 lbs and in just the 2 weeks I'm down to 259! I'm sure most of this is water weight, but some of it is fat too. The first few days were difficult for me to not go eat at night, but the longer I stick with it the easier it gets! I've tried dieting so many times before and it has never worked, I could never stick with it because I was still left hungry at the end of the day. But the keto diet makes fasting so much easier, because I don't feel hungry later on in the day after I eat. I wish I would have tried the keto diet years ago, I might still have my gallbladder if I did! Not having a gallbladder does create some digestive issues for me, but the keto diet has been fairly easy on my stomach.

    1.- Eliminate carbs.
    2.- Eat less frequently.
These two things alone are the basis for a healthier lifestyle. Ketogenic diet + Intermittent fasting = healthier life style.
If you truly understand these two basics and apply them, then you're already halfway to getting healthier.
Repeat them. Memorize them. Internalize them. Write them down so they become part of you, of your lifestyle.
It's your health first (you in command) or whatever society dictates. You choose. There are only two ways.

Your plate should consist of 1/2 vegetables and 1/2 meat, fish, eggs, nuts, cheese, butter, cream, olive oil, coconut oil, bone broth, offal, and shellfish. Eliminate everything else including potatoes, corn, milk, fruit, and fruit juice. This is MUCH easier to comprehend. Many people that walk into my clinic don't even know what a carbohydrate is, and that sugar is only in candy and soda, and is that white granular stuff they spoon into their coffee of tea. If I start talking carbs, proteins, and fats, their face just goes blank.

    • @udarpavarota396
      @udarpavarota396 6 лет назад +7

Raymundo Serrano You CAN'T technically eliminate carbs because carbs are present in vegetables, but in very low amounts, so low they don't pull you out of ketosis even if you eat lots of vegetables.
When I say eliminate carbs, I'm referring to all these people who still want to have a cheat day every now and then, or those who want to be able to eat carbs but in amounts they themselves consider low, but that aren't sufficiently low to put you or keep you in keto mode.
In other words, this is a full compromise. If you're going to start speculating with the diet, what's the point of doing it in the first place? It won't accomplish the purpose for which it is intended, namely drastically reduce carbs and meal frequency to keep insulin as low as possible.

Dr. Berg, I just wanted to thank you for all of your helpful videos. The best validation of your advice is the results. Healthy Keto and Intermittent Fasting have literally changed my life. When you follow this plan like a soldier, you lose weight, feel great and never feel hungry. I was 293 lbs at the beginning of May 2022 and was experiencing a host of health problems related to obesity. I started Dr. Berg's healthy keto and intermittent fasting diet and as of yesterday morning have officially lost 50 lbs and 6 inches off of my waist. I have 23 lbs to go to reach the weight I was when I got married, and 53 lbs to reach the weight I was when I was swimming 2-a-days for various swim teams my senior year in high school.

Stop drinking alcohol and sodas, fast 6 days a week. Eat eggs, remove most of carbs just a little piece at midday : and vegetables at night. Some exercice and start to live yourself again ! Just discovered your videos and loving them already !

Hello Dr. Berg. So, about two years ago I followed your advice and completely cured my Psoriasis but for a long time suffer from high BP. Naturally I am vegan, I keep a close eye on my Sodium intake. I exercise and run daily. But I do suffer from work related stress. Anyway after consulting my doctor and taking pills to lower blood pressure I could not lower it. Sometime for a short period of time I saw some improvement but it did not last. My BP was in the vicinity of 150/105 sometime higher. I suffered from sever headaches and anxiety that I am days from getting a stroke. When I started following your videos I wasn't sure but I said what the heck, you helped me before, i'll give it a try. I kicked off with a 3 days full water fast followed by IF of 18/6. I started Monday. It is Saturday. I took no medications, just followed your videos and nutrition advice. i just measured my BP and it was 117/79. I have never seen such numbers since I started measuring about 2 years ago. Also headaches gone. Lost 4 KG. And feeling just awesome, So just wanted to say - a BIG thank you!

Dr. Berg. Your explanation is so simple it is brilliant. I have done what you say here for 4 weeks now and I have lost 15 lbs. My arthritic pain has lessened, and most of all, this is so easy. I no longer have nervous eating and I have just started. You are correct, it is not a diet, it is just a matter of changing how much and how often you eat. The good foods keep me satisfied rather than making me hungry. Also, I have never been a big sugar or carb person. This is so easy to do, people just need to atch your videos.
