You can burn fat for extreme weight loss, even with slow metabolism or other conditions that typically slow weight loss.
0:00 How to burn fat despite having a slow metabolism (or other conditions that slow weight loss)
3:56 I touch on the condition called insulin resistance, which is behind a weight plateau
6:19 I list excellent protein sources along with ones to avoid
14:20 Let’s talk about fat; good sources, and the amounts to eat
In this webinar, I’m going to talk about extreme weight loss: how to burn fat despite having a slow metabolism, plateauing, menopause, or hypothyroidism, for example. Or if you just want to lose weight really quickly. If you understand these principles, you can lose as much weight as you want.

    Summary:
-Cut down on the frequency of eating. Do not eat unless you’re hungry. Your body stops burning fat the second you eat. First, cut out breakfast. Then squish dinner to within 3-4 hours of lunch. Keep trying to get to one meal a day because that gives you 23 hours of fasting. Then try to eat 1 meal every other day if you feel up to it or skip eating on the weekends for a prolonged fast..
-When you’re fasting - add ½ to 1 tsp of sea salt to your water per day. Add Nutritional Yeast for B vitamins. Dring 2 tbl spoons of apple cider vinger and 2 tbl spoons of lemon juice in the morning with the salt.
-Avoid Dairy, Corn, Peas, Beets, Tomato, Squash, all fruits and berries right now. Avocado is okay. Keep seeds down to less than ¼ cup per day. Avoid nuts at this point.
-No Limits to leafy greens. Consume 7 to 10 cups of vegetables per day. Insulin resistance stops fat loss. Leafy greens and vegetables feed the wide range of microbes that convert fiber into butyrate which lowers insulin insentivity.
-Try to eat 3 to 6 ounces of protein per meal. Stick with fatty protein meals. Salmon and other fatty fish are the best (due to it’s higher DHA). Sardines. Hamburger (80% lean), Pasture-raised Eggs (duck eggs if you can find them), Seafood, Pork (including bacon).
-Exercise in a fasted state. The best exercise is intense exercise. Use compound movements in the gym that work multiple muscle groups at once. Burpees, planks, plyometrics and spinning are great. When you’re at a good weight, do 7 cycles of 30 second sprints. Try to exercise for 20 to 40 minutes two times per week. Don’t exercise over fatigure or soreness.
-Go for long walks on the days your not working out..
-Most of the fat is lost at night, so sleep well and get 8 hours of sleep.

I started my keto intermittent fasting on Monday, April 1st. I was 161, clothes were thigt. Today, Friday 6th, I am 152 & clothes fit. I do 45 minutes of treadmill every day. So it's not just water weight. It's fat, waist smaller 😊, love handles going away in not even a week. So, please give this a try if you want & need to lose weight. Thank you so Dr Berg.

Dr. Berg, you saved my life. In 2017 I was 60 pounds overweight, pre-diabetic and had high blood pressure. I was disoriented, confused, anxious and depressed. I felt helpless and hopeless. I watched your videos and started doing keto and taking the electrolytes and supplements you recommend. That was December, 2017. By April of 2018, I had lost 25 pounds and my mind cleared. That’s when I realized I was in an abusive relationship. I was able to get out of the relationship and rebuild my life. I am now living my fullest life. I have lost 55 pounds, and I am no longer pre-diabetic. My blood pressure is great, and my anxiety and depression are gone. I have loving friends, and I’m healthy and happy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I started to do a 1 day fast. I got through it. Then decided on 3 day fast, got through it. Then extended to 7 day fast. I have been watching videos and decided to do 30 day fast. 8/26/22 to 7/3/22 lost 10 lbs. I drink water, bone broth, green tea, vites, potassium, magnesium, electrolytes, Light exercises most days, nothing strenuous. I tried bike riding but got wiped out. been biking for months so I over did it. Sometimes I was hungry at night but ignored it. Next day I was smiling because I lost a pound. After 30 days, will slowly introduce food, an egg and veggie or salad. Will probably do alternate days of fast. Eventually one meal a day. I'm so happy I have started this journey. I'm 66, no prescription drugs, don't drink or smoke. norm blood pressure. Will do fasting again...at lease once a month. It's so worth it. I hope I can encourage others to try. It seems like a sacrifice, but it's worth the benefits of good health and happiness. Good Luck.

Did you bother to check the amount of Fat and amount muscle you lost during the whole process.. Studies do show that in a prolonged fast you end up losing more muscle mass that fat .. I had tried a 3 day fast.. Had measured my fat and muscle before and after.. I lost around 0.9 kg of fat and 0.7 kg of muscle mass along with that .. Around 2.3 kgs I lost .. Rest of it being water ..

@@khannasar8978t studies. It's not true. Fasting state burns fat. People who have fat reserves (more than 4% body weight) burn fat, not muscle during ketosis. If you are inactive, you lose muscle, but moderate activity maintains muscle while fasting. I have been in a prolonged fast (less than 250 calories per day) and have lost 40 pounds. If that was muscle I would be dead.

@@Mr-my8kx Just do the diet at first and try to get out walking. I was soo out of shape before. The exercise part just came naturally for me. The more you lose, the more energy you have. I'm not a runner, never was, so I am just hiking regularly. Hiking or not, I just find myself up and moving all day every day now! I don't want to sit around any more.
I suggest getting a Fitbit. Just having it on and watching your steps accrue seems to be motivating. Plus, Fitbit will give you silly little reward badges like telling you you walked as far as penguins do to mate, lol. When you get to the end of the day and you realize you are a couple hundred steps under your goal, you just want to go walk around the block one more time so you can get them in for the day. Don't worry about running at first. If that is what you want to do eventually, it will come. For now, just change your diet with Keto, start losing a few pounds and just try to get moving more than you have been. Once you feel better, you move more and moving more makes you feel even better and you move even more.

Thanks, Dr. Berg, this webinar is helpful. I've been watching your videos and now putting them into practice. I'm 56 years old and was wearing a size 16 in November 2022 and today June 2023 I wear a size 6. I invested in your electrolytes, which I take daily, and D3. I walk 3 miles every morning outside and have gotten addicted to Pilates. I also do HIIT and Yoga. Last month I did my first 72-hour water fast. I have been a vegan for 7 years, which can be carb loaded, but I now keep it within the window you recommend. I feel great and look great, much better than when I went to a boot camp to lose weight in the past. Your plan is practical and something I will sustain long-term. Thanks again!!

I love IF! I started using your method. I started IF until noon, I tried pushing to 1pm, then 1.30 and 2pm. I am now up to 3pm and still not really hungry. IF has been the major game-changer in dropping weight. I love it - I never get the huge hunger spikes I used to on low-fat diets.

In your closing comments you say this is the most powerful way to go for your patients over the years of all the things you have tried. I can’t agree with you more! Every day I wake up and can’t believe this is my body. I’m 55 and have been on Keto and IF for 5 months. I’ve lost tons of inches and 45 pounds. I’m just amazed as I had really just given in to being overweight. I was eating quality food, but just kept gaining. Keto was step one and IF was the rocket fuel that really helped me take it to the next level. I love working out first thing in the morning during my fasting window and I don’t get hungry for hours. My brain function is sharper and I FEEL AMAZING! I have watched your videos for a couple of years and finally had the courage to just try it after having mobility issues. I said to myself, you are blessed with a body that can move with 2 arms and 2 legs and you have no reason not to be in better health. Don’t wait until you have illness that will keep you down. Soon you will start feeling bad, i guarantee it. Its not healthy and not normal. People need balanced diets, not extreme diets. I lost a lot of weight with keto and then problems started, heart problems, high blood pressure, anxiety... and so on. Talk to your doctor if youre doing keto! Our bodies need carbs, just like proteins and fat. Devoiding your body of one of those will create imbalance 100%, sooner or later. I dont hate keto now but it should be done under serious supervision.

I love how I learned in the Bible years ago how good fasting is for the body. Now to listen to the scientific breakdown, it's just so awesome.

True, it’s great for cleansing the organs in the body. We got use to eating 2-3 meals a day. Back in the days people would go for a few days with out food. They lived longer than avg age these days.

      😊
God says that fasting is always to be accompanied with praying.
Seeking Him and His Truths during the fast is what sustains and brings the fulfillment.
