The True Scale Of Modern Nuclear Weapons

  • Published on Mar 9, 2026
  • The terrifying true scale of modern nuclear weapons is beyond what most people can imagine. Nuclear Weapons today are far more powerful than those used in World War II. For example, the B83 nuclear bomb, the largest in the U.S. arsenal, is 80 times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. This single Nuclear Weapon could destroy an entire city like Beijing, causing millions of deaths and injuries.
    Submarine-launched missiles like the Trident II carry multiple Nuclear Weapons. Each missile can deliver up to eight warheads, each 30 times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb. A single Trident II could devastate a city like Moscow, resulting in over 2.8 million immediate fatalities.
    China's Dongfeng 5 missile is another example of the terrifying power of Nuclear Weapons. It can carry up to 12 warheads, each 66 times more powerful than the Hiroshima bomb. If aimed at a city like Washington, D.C., the impact would be catastrophic, with over a million fatalities.
    Russia's R-36 missile, known as the "Satan" missile, can carry multiple Nuclear Weapons with immense destructive power. Some versions can deliver a single warhead up to 20 megatons, which is over 1,300 times the Hiroshima bomb.
    At the top of the list is Russia's RS-28 Sarmat missile, nicknamed "Satan 2." This Nuclear Weapon can carry up to 15 warheads and potentially deliver a 50-megaton bomb, causing unimaginable destruction to cities like New York.
    Even though some countries may face setbacks, the existence of these Nuclear Weapons means that even a few could cause unimaginable damage. The true scale of modern Nuclear Weapons shows that in a nuclear war, there are no winners-only devastating loss for humanity.

      And the winner gets the losers other country? To be enslaved? Raped? And murdered? If the Middle East took over the United States, what do you think they're going to do to us? Do you think they're going to be nice to us or do you think they're going to chop our heads off? LOL. A nuclear war is to destroy the other side and that's all that matters. No one lives. @Belmont1714True Einstein was a part of the Manhattan project with himself and I think 65 other scientists did sign petitions opposing its use, and he also worked to control nuclear proliferation after world war 2. As we all know though once the genie is out the bottle there is no putting it back in. Einstein wanted the U.S to have the bomb before Germany. That was his reasoning. Even though he had little to do with the development of the bomb his equations did help the other scientists make the atomic bomb.

      Second; when* not if. Anything with a probability above 0% becomes a matter of time.
      Also, this video fails to horrify to the extent of an actual counter-value nuclear attack, the targets are chemical plants, chemical weapon facilities, nuclear power plants along with their spent fuel pools and dry cask storages but, you probably won't live long enough Cobalt-60 and cook from the inside out because, Yellowstone is a target.

      @JP-sm1zv 8 months ago +17

      @aidualK59 That's a really interesting point you've brought up, and it touches on a complex part of history. When considering the use of the atomic bombs in World War II, it's helpful to delve into the specific context of the Pacific Theater and the mindset of the Japanese leadership at the time.
      Understanding the full scope of details, such as the estimated casualties from a full-scale invasion of mainland Japan (which included projections of incredibly high losses for both sides, civilians included), helps shed light on the difficult decision made. While the devastation caused by the atomic bombs was immense, many historians argue that they ultimately prevented an even greater loss of life that would have resulted from a prolonged invasion.
      It's a heavy topic to consider, but looking at all the contributing factors can help clarify why such a drastic measure was taken.

      @abdullah-_-. Year ago +356

      @DeltaLimaNovember What part of any of this brings "peace"? There are multiple wars going on in the world as we speak. The only thing this has cost is a dick measuring contest between world leaders to see who can make the most unimaginably powerful and disgusting weapons known to mankind. The entire concept of the oppenheimer movie relied on the fact that nuclear bombs were started as an idea to bring "peace" but ended up changing the world for the worst in the end.
      You might think it did what it was suppoosed to do by ending WW2, which is true. But it caused more suffering later on.

      Are guns, submarines, warships, hand grenades, biplanes and artillery shells not enough?
      Why did they need to make aircraft carriers, nuclear bombs, incendiary devices, drones and guided missiles?
      I honestly wish military technology never developed after World War I.
      1918 should’ve been the limit to war weapons, especially bombs

      How would you describe the explosive power then?

    • @Daniel-rd6st
      @Daniel-rd6st Year ago +146

      @StrAniG09 With scientific units, total energy released? For example, in Germany it was (and often still is) quite common to measure a cars power in horse power. Nowadays we usually use kW as unit of measurement, which would be the correct scientific unit of measurement.

    • @StrAniG09
      @StrAniG09 Year ago +74

      @Daniel-rd6st and how would that make it better to understand how much explosive power a bomb has?

    • @Daniel-rd6st
      @Daniel-rd6st Year ago +158

      @StrAniG09 The same way it makes it better to use square meter instead of football fields when talking about the size of an area. You learn (or should learn) at school about scientific units and get a good impression of what they describe. And "tons of TNT" is usually not a measurement you learn at school. Newton (for force) or Watt (for power) is.

Back then, Decius Mus, a Roman consul, sacrificed himself by charging headfirst into the enemy to save his people. Ramesses II fought personally in the battle of Kadesh. now, world leaders can just press a button and wipe out all of humanity while they themselves remain safe in their bunkers.

      There were men that witnessed an atomic bomb explosion, about the same size of Hiroshima (keep that in mind). They were told to crouch down, their backs to the blast and cover their heads and eyes with their arms. When the blast happened, they could see their bones and blood vessels like it was an x-ray, thats how bright it was. Imagine the brightness of the B-83

      Being in the exact blast radius would be a gift. After the blasts in Japan, survivors recall seeing creatures that they thought could only be zombies. In reality, they were people who survived the blast, but had their skins peeled off, eyes melted and the only thing keeping them going was the desperation to quench the pain they were feeling. Moreover, many people also died due to radiation sickness. It would be best to perish in seconds than to suffer for hours, sometimes even days.

      Wanna feel completely helpless?
      Little boy (Hiroshima) had a 64kg (141 lbs) "core" of which only around 910 GRAMS (2 lbs) actually fissioned (detonated). That means that over 98% of the bomb actually didn't get used.
      910 grams... That's like 4 Big Macs. The mass of 4 biggie boys killed over 100k people.
      And to top it all off, Uranium 235 (fuel inside little boy) fission is absolutely inefficient, like laughable at best. Only 0.1% of the fission process actually gets converted into energy (the boom which makes the bomb go).
      ZERO POINT ONE PERCENT!!!!
      If you were able to convert all of the energy at an efficiency of 100% (let's say by using antimatter) you would only need 0.5 grams of ordinary matter and 0.5 grams of antimatter to produce a yield of 21 kilotons (the bomb dropped on Nagasaki). That's like the weight of 1ml of water.
      It's absolutely unreal how much energy is Stuck inside nuclear bonds.

    • @MyMusicClear
      @MyMusicClear Year ago

      Einstein showed us that mass contains an unimaginable amount of energy bound within it, known as “rest energy” (M = E/C^2). If I’m not mistaken, in the current state of the universe, there’s far more rest energy than radiation, second only to dark energy, meaning the universe’s mass holds a massive amount of potential energy that could still be unleashed or decay to lower states. Just one gram of matter can release 9 x 10^13 Joules, enough to power a single household for thousands of years!

      yeah, this simulation of "Here's what it would look like if they targeted all the warheads at the same point," which is exactly the opposite reason why MIRVs were invented. Setting them to nearby points creates and even more destructive footprint over a wider area. This is because the effects of the blast decrease exponentially with distance from ground zero. So spreading a bunch of little circles around covers more area than one big circle.

      I mean... that's the point. These aren't meant to be "strategic" in spite of the names governments like to assign them. They are guarantees that nobody wins by using this technology against anyone else. Pulling the trigger only guarantees death. No more cities. No more citizens. No more economy. No more nation. Erasure. The End.
      So there is no motivation to do anything besides build your own and watch closely. When your "ultimate" move ends with your entire country being reduced to radioactive craters and a historical footnote, suddenly conventional warfare and diplomacy seem like far more reasonable choices.

      Such a naive and dystopian way of thinking without asking why they are starving. There are reasons for this and are not dependent on countries investing in nuclear bombs. In 3rd world countries are starving because they are not able to support such a large number of people, these are countries with low IQ often ruled by dictatorships, stupidity and crime. Even if you collected all the money of the rich and gave it to these starving people they would waste it in a moment.

    • @ajarias256

      @Arthurroo00
      Nice! That's what a nice way to miss the point, and the point was that money spent in nuclear weapons is such a waste, don't you agree? I would rather, not just give it away, but create sustainable worldwide programs to eradicate hunger than spend it in bombs with the potential to annihilate the entire planet.
      On the other hand, are you implying that people under the oppressing rule of dictators are like that, because they want to? Are you suggesting that they're starving because they like it?
      Of course it's not their choice... that's why most of them, flee from their countries. You can't judge an entire country by their rulers. I'm Cuban, so I know what I'm talking about.
      The IQ stuff I won't even give a reply to that because it doesn't even deserve one.
