Now, of course, this list could be quite long and there are probably foods higher in nutrients I could have added. However, I wanted to take into consideration what people have access to as well as what they will eat on the regular basis::))
Make a longer list please doc :)
It's a good list
@Dr Eric Berg DC, please note that salmon must be wild cauth, the salmon from farms are highly toxic, even worse than commercial hamburgers, the toxines come from the pellets they feed the salmon.
A question i have about the vitamine K2 in sauwerkraut, how is that possible for a fat-soluble vitamin? As there is no fat in sauwerkraut? Or?
Thank you so much! Ive tried listening to another guy but I came away more confused with all his scientific babble. You are clear and get to the point. THANK YOU!!

Keto diet has changed my life!! I was 500lb 3 weeks ago.. After years of struggling with depression and overeating, I finally made the switch.. I educated myself on diet and nutrition, and started grinding.. Now 3 weeks later, I’ve dropped 47lb, and am down to 452lb already.. Watch this space! 😊💪
Subbed! You’re doing an amazing job! 👏
Omg that’s FANTASTIC!!!!! Way to go! I’m proud of you and don’t even know you. What an awesome gift of health you are giving yourself. Thanks for sharing and I hope you share more with us ! How are you feeling? Have more

Coconut oil better than olive
Make sure that the sauerkraut is organic
This channel is by far one of the most comprehensive, clear, accessible and reliable sources of knowledge out there for people that really care for their health. Keep up the great work Dr. Berg and please consider structuring your knowledge in a one-stop shop book at some point.
People shouldn’t be listening to one guy that doesn’t cite information. I recommend Dr Greger, he actually cites and lists the scientific research.

Honestly thought walnuts, then almonds, were the best nuts to eat.
Shouldn't he have at least added avocadoes?
Salmon is absolutely disgusting
The main reason why I have huge respect for you, Dr. Berg, is not just for the clarity of your presentations, but on account of your honesty, modesty and sincerity in being able to admit that you have sometimes changed your opinion in the light of scientific evidence - the mark of a true scientist. Too many modern 'experts' will never admit that their opinions were wide of the mark.
The 'knowledge' about saturated fats is a case in point. More scientists and health professionals need to develop the honesty, modesty and sincerity which you possess.
He is TRULY AMAZING
Yes, absolutely. Classy man in his educating of all here.
Humble, even. A trait found not in most doctors, especially northeastern, Pennsylvania.
He has some good info, but im good without the factory-farmed birds. Many ways to get what we need, unfortunately some dr's and dietitians just state one way.
not hamberger
I switched to an all natural diet and only drinking water 6 months ago and I’ve lost 40-45 pounds! I’ve been fasting as well with my brothers at work in recognition of Ramadan. I have unlimited access to arugula pecans and EVOO at work and now I’m going to take full advantage of this when I don’t have the day off 😎
Good to know high quality red meat does not cause cancer. Note, though, that since studies indicate that high heat grilling (13:40) definitely has cancer-causing agents, it's also good to view Dr. Axe's recommendations, to significantly reduce risk.

@Da Bear Hey ! Thanks !
I wished I had this powerful information years ago. It's hard to comprehend that this summary of core truths is so hermetically hidden by a mainstream reality (and being perpetuated at all costs). Especially Dr Berg's clarity on these topics is groundbreaking ❤
We call it minced beef or just mince, Dr Berg. Grass fed, organic, quite inexpensive here in Ireland. It can form the base of many delicious dishes. 👍
Anyone in the UK wondering why you have never heard of Arugula, that's because we call it Rocket.
Same here!
😂😂 right?! It's mostly known as rockets! It's readily available in all supermarkets, delicious!
Rocket in Australia too 🙃

I am losing weight on a high carb diet. But that''s because losing weight is easy. When you consume more energy then you intake. Also I fast from 6 pm till 1 pm the next day
Dr Berg you are a life saver for thousands, and thousands of people. Well done
Thank you so much for sharing this information. I have been watching for 2 weeks and changing my nutrition, and I have already seen improvement in my body. I'm trying to get my husband on board. I was wondering if you could do a video for the best foods for blood pressure. Thank you.
I reduced my weight from 215 to 178 pounds. These videos are so valuable in staying healthy and fit.
I know this is a lifetime journey and all, but just curious as to how long that goal took? Would you mind sharing? Congratulations also on your progress.
It won't take long, I have been experiment with good eating habits, intermittent fasting for so many years testing my body and changing things around. The reason is I set different goals every time I make progress on something and when I hit plateau so I switch and try something else.
Intermittent is magical I see results in a month time. That also depends on your goals. Just dare to try it and see the results for yourself, u don't have to do it cold turkey just drop everything.
You can cut small portion a week, for example if you eat bread 3 times a day cut it to two times a day for the first few weeks.
@@AbiyeKetema thank you for the advice and encouragement 🙏🏽
@@emmbaker2182 I had a health scare Jan 2nd. Haven’t exercised or eaten right in years and weighed 252 lbs. Immediately went cold Turkey cut out all sugar, starchy carbs, breads, processed foods and started power walking everyday. First day I could barely do 10-15 minutes and wheezed and panted the whole way. It’s Sunday, Jan 22nd and just completed an almost 4 mile walk for 70 minutes straight, no breaks, and my breathing is now in a steady rhythm. My weight was down to 243 lbs. other day but did gain 2 lbs. more back, probably in some muscle and fluctuating water weight. I’m honestly shocked at the capacity for the human body to heal so fast, it’s truly like a miracle.
I'm the exact opposite, 178>>215 with this advice plus heavy weight training. I look and feel amazing!! Cheers
Arugula is a vegetable that can grow even in the fall and early spring. It actually grows better when it is a little cooler and it can be grown in a pot and brought indoors. I just planted some recently and the seed package said that you can get a harvest in 35 to 40 days. It is very expensive at the store. So, consider getting on the internet and ordering some heirloom seeds and growing your own arugula.
Hey that’s a great tip. Thanks, right now my monthly income doesn’t cover my whole month. ☃️😎
Hello there Gayle, I'm in my 60s in Australia and I've never heard of this arugula. Do you know if it is known as anything else? Maybe I'm able to get it here but it goes by another name. Thanks.
@@markillingworth1929 we call it 'rocket' its also called eruca sometimes. Its so easy to grow but its an acquired taste. Kind of spicy peppery and very green 😉 i have a low temperature sun room and grow it during winter indoors easily. It will bolt in high summer. Best to grow in early spring and do a second crop in fall like you would kale. It tastes best when you pick leaves young so grow a few plants and use cut and come again method
@@DebRoo11 Oh rocket, right, thanks Deb.
In my country Arugula grows everywhere on ground. Almost no one eats it because it's associated as being an animal that eats grass like cows lol.
I personally find Arugula disgusting. Even served in restaurant as salad. 🤷♂️
I make a pate or paste with organ meats but mostly use liver perfectly stewed with salt and many spices as well as dried mint. A smooth blend with lots of olive oil and it's perfect to eat with just about anything.
Please try it, Dr. Berg ❤🇩🇲
Thanks for all you do for humanity, may God bless you, always🙏🏼
What kind of liver
can you post a recipe?
Sounds so interesting! I'd love a recipe!

Surprising he didn’t say Eggs. He eats 4 a day!
I grew up with all these foods as a kid and I thought we’re poor. We ate keto without knowing bc refined stuff was too expensive for us. Now looking back I think the best gift I have for my kids are my genes .
Nice!
Bacon grease, butter, lard, cage- free roaming chickens with fresh non-root vegetables from a vegetable garden were staples from my grandparents home. They were poor and it was cheaper to live that way. Turns out, they knew something.

Dr. Berg, I am from Kenya and I thank God for you, your channel has helped me lower my bp readings to levels that do not require meds! Thank you.
Hi, happy to know am not alone from our lovely country.
After 4 years of eating dirty, lazy keto, I am now following a OMAD healthy version. I found that this one meal a day is not hard because I am not hungry, but I cannot eat all the foods that I think I should for max nutrients in just one meal. Good thing about that is now I am willing to spend more to buy better quality because I can eat less of it to get even more nutrients into that one meal. Sounds like a win-win to me.

😉
When I started out in the emergency department as a registered nurse many years ago, nutrition was a word that was hardly ever mentioned. Unproven hypotheses were thrown around like they were fact...LDLs were bad, eggs were bad, essential hypertension was hypertension with an unknown cause which had to be fixed with medications, taking statins were a necessity if you had high cholesterol and you just had to deal with the side effects, and on and on. Now that I have been retired for a few years I find that I know more now as to how important nutrition is with virtually every aspect of one's health. In a nutshell what I have learned is this... a few simple dietary changes coupled with a desire to better one's health can lead to drastic improvements in one's life.
Agreed, I have found doctors dont say anything about nutrition and just want to prescribe to fix the immediate symptom. Started going to a naturopathic doctor with much better results. Not abandoning any of the doctors but just use them for their strengths.
@Jesse Kawaii the yolk is where all the nutrients are
I'm finding doctors still don't know much about nutrition or healthy eating. As fas as weight-loss goes they still say calories in, calories out. They don't acknowledge the hormones involved in your body and shedding weight. Losing weight is not one size fits all. Some doctors get into fat shaming.
I got an email years ago about how Rockefeller & others that owned pharmaceutical companies took over writing what doctors were taught in college & they took out almost everything about nutrition because they knew what we eat effects our health! We have GMO foods that are toxic for us but the majority of people don’t know they are eating toxins! I’d stay away from any corn products like corn syrup & soybean products & places that use soybean or canola oil, all these are toxins for our body & for our animals! Don’t buy anything with these toxins, maybe this would get their attention by affecting their financial bottom line. 🙏🏼
I call docs big pharma drug dealers for a reason
Growing up as a chubby kid and eating very unhealthy.. (Like a whole box of sugary cereal or cookies kind of unhealthy) I feel it was necessary to understand just how bad that really is for you. For years I've been eating healthy, strict Keto, working out, and never felt better! I have Dr Berg to thank for a lot of what I know now and am so grateful to look and feel as good as I do, while spreading the word to friends and family about how we need to take our health seriously. Keto is not a fad diet, it's the real deal. Thanks so much for all the great content!
Thanks for all the health advice. Seriously appreciate you stressing food as medicine, instead of following strict diets. Love the body, feed it well and the results always come. God bless

I was 255 January 1st. I’m 207 today. I can attribute this to the following:

2. Taking a supplement called “interphase plus” which broke down biofilms and allowed my body to rid itself of bad bacteria and restore intestinal flora balance.

5. Eating once a day in the afternoon.
6. 30 mins of cardio a day gradually increasing in intensity. 5-6 days a week.

@@Drberg Dr. Berg, according to Dr.Steven Gundry, there is a sugar molecule in beef, lamb & pork, regardless of how it is raised, that our bodies (or the bodies of many of us) form antibodies against. And he says the molecules attach to our arteries, where they are attacked by these antibodies, causing inflammation. And he suggested that it may actually be that sugar molecule, rather than saturated fats & cholesterol, that has been responsible for the noticeable associations between red meat & cardiovascular disease & events over the years.
And even Drs. Longo & Sinclair, in their many years of research on longevity, have singled red meat out as important to eliminate. In fact, while some of the "blue zones" do eat limited amounts of seafood & even poultry, none eat red meat. And so, for these reasons, I was surprised to see hamburger on this list, even despite it's nutrient value.
Pls know I have only the utmost respect & appreciation for & trust in you and your information, and hope, therefore, that at some point you can do a video (or even respond here) addressing this important concern. But in the meantime, thank you so much for all of your incredibly informative and valuable videos!

I used to eat a lot of sauerkraut when I was a kid and it did wonders for my skin. My grandmother would make it often, but when she passed away, the amount I ate was greatly reduced and I began to look my age. @@gunstargizmo don't be afraid of salt, it is another lie, more is better than less, if the doc says take less salt, just increase potassium, see Dr berg videos on that. Salt in processed foods is bad, partly plastic, pink Himalayan salt is best, then sea salt, you can eat more sauerkraut, I love it with cheddar cheese and black sesame seed or caraway seeds, super healthy and they make the sauerkraut delicious

Dear, Dr. Berg! I wanted to reach out and say a huge thank you for all of your work and contribution to our health and happiness! I've been watching your channel for a couple of weeks now and it has changed my life! After learning about my body type (ovary) and reading about all the signs and information, I realised that I am probably insulin resistant and have a fatty liver and might be moving towards being pre-diabetic. I'm 35 and have been having health issues for a couple of years which the doctors have not been able to diagnose or figure out (severely deficient in d-vitam, low on white blood cells, chest pains, severe fatigue, weakness, brain fog, etc). After learning all of this information through your channel, I first did a 3-day water fast and after that have been on intermittent fasting and keto together. I completely changed my eating habits, switched to organic food and also started a small garden to grow my own organic food. I have so much energy and have not felt that motivated and healthy in a very long time. I wake up rested and happy. I'm deeply grateful for that and for all of your work and the free amazing material you are putting out to educate us! It's wonderful and so important! Thank you so much!!
Dr.Berg I have a concussion ,which foods will prevent blood clot and inflammation ?

I'm 39 and in the same boat you were in! All the health problems are causing me to stress, which leads to more difficulty doing away with the terrible food once and for all.! 😩 Any advice for me?
@@barbarasmith4560 I hear you! Especially with the way Everything is going up right now. I guess we just have to settle for doing the best we can within the price range we can afford. Somethin's better than nothing I guess. Progress over perfection.

Congradulations. Keep up the great work.
9:17 Back in the 1970s, my mother made the most delicious liver and onions! I have never been able to find beef liver like that. She got it from the store that she and my dad owned back then.
Thank you for this information, you changed my life years ago with the keto diet!!....Just a tip for the extra virgin olive oil, I am from Spain, the real virgin olive oil should come in a glass tinted bottle (because light can affect its properties). the lable should say "cold pressed" and a deffinitive proof of autenticity is to see a bit of fat on the bottom of the botle or for the oil to be blurry, as well as a dark shade (should be more greenish than yellow), like the one Dr Berg shows in the video :)
This is really great Dr. Berg. probably one of the beset videos out many amazing vids! just curious, how do you feel about taking callogen supplements?
I'm 9 months into my Keto journey and I've lost 46 pounds. Down from 260 lbs. I'm 6' 3" and weigh 213 now.
It is so beneficial to many that you do these videos. Thank you.
You're very welcome.
@@Drberg when you described the flavor of olive oil you actually described the flavor of olive oil made from unripe olives. Oil from ripe olives tastes nothing like that.
Dr. Berg, I found you several months ago. You have so much helpful information. I am never going to let you go, smiles. Thank you.
Thanks a lot!!! For making lists
My list: 1) mixed sauerkrauts (with greens, fruits and vegetables, I use 30 types, the sugar disappears in the ferment) 2) ruminant offal 3) fatty ruminant cuts 4) tallow or ghee 5) bone broth. These are the must have. Then 6) eggs 7) mackerel or sardines 8) rabbit. 6 through 8 are cheaper and almost as good as what they substitute (meat).
Excellent food list!
Had rabbit and duck once not that different from chicken still didn't really like it ....too rubbery 😉
This blew my mind all throughout the video! The way you explained everything and broke it down tohow essentially helps and corroborates with each other to prevent and improve things JUST ABSOLUTELY BLEW MY MIND! Thank you so much for creating this video!
Get it together silk
Another excellent video. I have Sjögren’s syndrome which I have been able to get into remission for decent periods of time. My problem is actually keeping enough weight on when following an autoimmune protocol diet. I hate eating meat and even fish because of the planet impact, but I really have to eat them. I am highly sensitive to eggs and need other ideas for sources of protein, healthy carbs, healthy anything I can add to my diet to bulk up. When I’m eating no grains or legumes, I get too skinny. 🙏 Thanks
Thank You Doctor. I'm one of your follower and a BIG fan from New Zealand.
I just need to take a moment here and THANK YOU Dr. Berg for cutting through the classicism of American Medicine. Genuinely, YOUR KNOWLEDGE IS DESPERATELY NEEDED in the poor area (poor areas) where I live (I'm an art conservator so I am poor) ... Doctors don't know anything, but how to set a broken bone where I live. Your RUclips channel is very important! You alone are a force for change. Your advice is excellent. Thank You Thank You Thank You!!! CONSTRUCTIVE MEDICINE!? (a radiant novelty unknown to 99% of Americans; Thank You.)
Thanks you doctor nice video
Nicely said. Thanks!
I recently suffered a miscarriage and being in my forties I found that my hormonal change and the foods I was eating were impacting my mood, quality of sleep, and overall appearance. I’ve been following your advice and suggestions for a few weeks and feeling improvements in all areas. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Dr. Berg.
Eat many different fruits, vegetables and meat, avoid too much saturated fats and trans fat, not too much sugar or carbs but enough to keep you energized. Less rice, pasta and bread. Dont eat too much of anything that includes the greens.
I'm sorry for your loss.

Always a great presentation
Glad you liked it!
Thank you Dr. Berg.
A quick note to all who doing Keto, or low carb living.
Don't be deterred by the detractors.
The ones who poke fun at Keto, and tell you that you're getting too thin.
Sounds crazy, but I'm getting that from people.
Also, don't let them sway you from fasting. Most will argue that fasting is unhealthy.
Exactly! Thank you so much 👏
Yep, just let them living and dying fat and suffering
Same for me, my answer to some of these people is “ do you get medicine covered by insurance?” I’m happy when they say yes and ask about me medicine and I say oh I don’t use anything.?
so true. People keep telling try to sway me against fasting... Actually, they're just convincing themselves than they don't need to try it... I've tried IF and 'regular' eating, while doing plenty of stuff. 100% IF gives me more energy, I last longer at whatever activity, have more focus, and I'm overall happier.
Stick with IF (it's pretty flexible too, so you can do it in the most convinient way for you; in my case, I fast til the evening, that way I waste no energy on digestion until my duties are over).
@@Yarblocosifilitico Awesome 👏 thank you so much for sharing!
Arugula is known as "Rocket" in Australia. Thanks Dr Berg for this great breakdown of healthy foods!
Thanks for sharing that info. Glad to help.
I didn’t know that. Thanks!
And in the UK too. Gonna add rocket to my diet!
@@Drberg Can you please tell or provide links to how or where you get each of the 7 foods you listed? Especially, Sauerkraut, Hamburger and Cod liver oil. I have never had hamburgers growing up in India in the 70's and 80's and I have to really make an effort 🤭🤗. Arugula is too strong for me, I have replaced it with radish and garlic, please tell me that's ok!!! Since Salmon is too expensive can I eat flounder instead? Thanks for all the wisdom!!!
Yeah, rocket for libido... relatable..
Hi doc. Eric thank you so so much for your very educational info. Although we know those vege but hearing from you ,,,, it’s incredible.
Thank you!! You always output so much knowledge every time.
That's nothing. Glad to share information that can help you all.
Something Dr. Berg forgot to mention in this video, is that when you buy sauerkraut on the unrefrigerated shelf in the grocery store when it's in a can or glass jar, it's pasteurized 100% of the time. The purpose of the pasteurization is to kill all bacteria so that it can be shelf-stable and be transported and sit on the shelf forever... killing all the bacteria, is good for long-term storage, but it's bad for getting the product you want because it kills all the good bacteria, it kills the probiotics. If you're going to bother to buy and eat sauerkraut, you might as well get the probiotic benefits too, so don't buy the store-bought pasteurized stuff. Ideally make your own, it tastes way better than the store-bought stuff, and is full of more probiotics than any expensive pill will give you.
This is the best comment here.
My mother made sauerkraut when I was a kid in a large crock. Stay at home moms back then had the time and energy to do things modern women find impossible. Healthy people were the majority back then.
Or go to a local herbal / mineral / vitiman store
They do have unpasteurized sauerkraut in the fridge section of healthier grocery stores and it truly helps along with kombucha
Costco has a good price on raw organic sauerkraut (Wildbrine brand)- 50 oz for about $10. We eat a tablespoon and a half everyday and we feed it to our dogs- we all love it!
I absolutely appreciate this information so so much! Thank you. I like looking back at all Dr. Berg's videos once in a while.

@Dr. Eric Berg DC, can you give a list of the best brands of olive oils as a recommendation? I'm new to your channel. You may have covered this already but I haven't come across it as of yet. Love all the information. Thanks! '
For those in the UK, those peppery green salad leaves 'arugula' is what we call 'rocket' (based on the French word roquette)
19:15 A quick tip I learned from an olive grower/mill: When selecting oils, look at the country codes & select those with only *_1_* country listed. Typical codes: ES = Spain, TU = Tunisia, &c. There are other factors to consider; however, this is a _quick_ glance check. The olive oil market has a lot of sketchy goings-on, just as with any other commodity market, & a lot of mixing ("blending") occurs for various reasons. Minimizing the number of sources increases the _probability_ of higher quality. A distant analog is single-malt vs. blended whiskeys, but those have other reasons for their mixing.
Im using the California cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. It is called California olive ranch. Did not see country code on the bottle, but it had the keto certified stamp on it, and has that grassy smell to it. Was very expensive but my wife says its one of the best one of the best
Brilliant advice, thank you!
