  • Monoprice Mini Delta V1 Cura 4.5+ Setup - Profiles, Gcode Tweaks, etc.
DO NOT DO THIS FOR THE MPMD V2 (not yet released as of mid-2021). The upcoming Monoprice Mini Delta V2 appears to have completely different firmware and will likely behave very differently.
As of version 4.5, the Monoprice Mini Delta is finally in the list of selectable printers in Cura. However, newcomers are still getting tripped up here-and-there, so I made this video to help people get started out with installing Cura 4.5, importing Brian’s profiles, and doing some minor tweaks to your Start Gcode. As always, the short text version and timestamp bookmarks are all in the video description.
    1. Mention MPMD 101 and the Lucky Cat (auto00.g).

    2. Full Uninstall - to fix crashing problems (not always necessary)

    3. Install Cura 4.5 (or later)

    4. Select "MP Mini Delta" as your printer. Lower the bed temperature in Cura so that stuff will actually print.
    5:25
    5. Import Brian's Profiles
    6:25
Use the "Update Only" folder because "New Folder" was for v3.6-4.4.1 installations.

    6. Set some basic calibration parameters in your Start Gcode for optimal layer heights (aka magic numbers) and segments per second. Also, do some tweaks to make your first layer stick a bit better. At the very least, I'd suggest setting the correct M92 values.

    7. Test Print

I did a filament filter in this video just because I will need it for a future video. You can watch part 3 of my extrusion calibration video if you care about fancier stock test prints.

Hi, Im back here after 10 months or so of purchasing this printer. So Cura now has as MP mini Delta V2 settings, any recommendations for the G-Code on that? I have been using the regular MP mini delta with following the Thingiverse page you posted, and it works great. So I was wondering if I should be using the new profile since they added it.

thats what the start g-code looks like:
      ;(**** start.gcode for MP Mini Delta V2****)
      G21
      G90
      M82
      M107
      M104 S170
      G28 X0 Y0
      G28 Z0
      G29 Z0.4
      G1 Z15 F300
      M109 S{material_print_temperature_layer_0}
      G92 E0
      G1 F200 E3
      G92 E0
      G1 F2000

The MPMD V1 and MPMD V2 are two different printers with completely different mainboards/firmware. Monoprice outsources production to China. The V1 was manufactured by Malyan while the V2 is manufactured by WEEDO. This video only pertains to the V1. You should use the "MP Mini Delta" if you own a V1 printer or the "MP Mini Delta V2" if you own a V2 printer. If you own a V2, then you should ignore all of the advice in this video. You can tell which MPMD you own by looking at the LCD screen: raw.githubusercontent.com/PurpleHullPeas/MPMD-AutoBedLevel-Cal/master/images/V1_vs_V2.png

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I am a total newbie to 3d printing and was struggling for weeks trying to get my MPMD to print something other than the cat. I was on the verge of giving up when I decided to do one more search on "Cura 4.5 MPMD" just to see if I could find anything, and I'm so, so glad I did because I found your video and was finally able to print something successfully! I'm ecstatic, and really excited to see what more my MPMD can do. THANK YOU!

Thanks. Been looking at this printer due to the price. You've convinced me to steer well clear of this thing. So many problems to solve! Others have warned about this printer too. Thanks for showing how much torture you have to go through to get it to work well.

Don't use version 4.7.X. It has a known bug. Edit: versions 4.8 and 4.9 seem to be okay. www.reddit.com/r/FixMyPrint/comments/iq6iyb/psa_theres_a_bug_in_cura_47x/
