      I think those baby bells would have kept together a bit better if your airfryer didn't move them around, it might be how the recipe is meant afterall, as not all airfryers move around what's inside them

    The last recipe is quite like okonomiyaki - a traditional dish I’ve had a few times in Japan that’s often cooked in front of you teppanyaki style. It uses flour as well as egg so the result is like a cross between an omelette and a pancake, with noodles and cabbage. Then you choose your filling - I had prawns and octopus. It’s topped off with stripes of Japanese Mayo, a Worcestershire/brown type sauce and then dried bonito flakes. It’s really good, but this one seems even simpler!

    • @ashuri89
      @ashuri89 3 года назад +5

      I'd say with the noodles this one's a bit closer to Hiroshima-yaki (just okonomiyaki with noodles), but I had the same thought! Definitely easier and probably fantastic with bonito and Kewpie mayo.
      Barry, if you haven't yet, definitely try out okonomiyaki! It's officially translated as "savory pancake", but I've always called it Japanese Pizza.

    • @Lurkley
      @Lurkley 3 года назад

      Ashley B yes exactly! I had the noodle type one in Osaka, but a totally different kind in Kyoto. That one didn’t have any noodles mixed in, it was folded in half more like a crepe and there was a virtually raw egg yolk as filling that kind of seeped out when I attacked it with my chopsticks. That was not my favourite tbh!

    • @emerje0
      @emerje0 3 года назад

      I wondered if anyone else had noticed how close the noodle recipe was to okonomiyaki. I don't like eggs, but with pancake batter I might try this easy version out.
      Barry, this might be a good one for the next "will it waffle" video.

    The ramlete is something I make fairly often. I've found it to be far easier to all do in just one pan. Cook the ramen in a nonstick pan with its seasonings until the water has cooked off, then pour the egg mixture over and stir together and let set and cook.

    with your crumbed babybels, if you freeze them for 30 minutes before crumbing and cooking, they'll retain their shape a little better, double crumbing will also help prevent leakage (this will work on standard mozzarella sticks too. Taking the paddle out of your air fryer will also stop them getting smooshed.

    I bread stuff all the time since I am a chef over at a restaurant the dry hand wet hand technique is super important on what makes it even go faster is if you keep both hands moving. I mean is as your dry hand is in the flower dusting whatever it is your other hand should be dunking stuff in the egg wash at the same time and don't be afraid to crowd the mozzarella in the flower and egg wash, and bread crumbs.

Whack it together and into the pan. Holds together much better and is delicious with or without your choice of sauce.

    Hi Barry. Another way that you can do the ramen is make it into fried ramen sticks. You make it the same way but put it in a rectangular baking dish but try not to make it to thick. I do recomend using some wax paper or cling film. Freeze it for 2 hours. When you take it out of the pan cut it into strips and then deep fry them until golden brown. So good.

    At first I was confused by your reaction to the cold Babybel because I had forgotten that you don't normally like cheese.

    Blueberry Lemon Cookies
    ¾ cup of AP flour
    ½ tsp baking powder
    Pinch of salt
    ⅓ cup of butter, softened
    ⅓ cup of sugar
    Zest of ½ lemon
    ⅓ cup frozen blueberries
    ½ cup of white chocolate chips
    Steps:
    Take the blueberries and place them into a bowl and cook them for approx. 90 seconds, stirring in between every 20 seconds or so.
    In a large mixing bowl, mix the sugar and butter together with an electric whisk until light and creamy, then add in the blueberries and mix until combined. Add in the remaining ingredients, but reserve a handful of the chocolate chips and again mix until left with a purple cookie batter.
    Place in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up the dough slightly. Then drop tablespoon amounts onto a large lined baking tray. Top the blob the cookie mix with a few of the remaining chocolate chips.
    Bake for 10-13 minutes in the oven at 350°F, once the edges start to brown take them out. Let them cool on the tray before transferring to a wire rack to cool fully.

    Was there meant to be deliberate silence at 2:04 or a case of missing music/sfx?

    After seeing that noodle omelette it reminds me of okonomiyaki that me and my wife make every so often from the hairy bikers Asian adventure book
